From Fabric A, cut: one 3” x WOF strip. Subcut: four 3” squares for the Center Square HSTs

From the Binding Fabric, cut:seven 2-1/2” x WOF strips
Step 1: Pair a 3” Fabric A square with a 3” Fabric B square, RST. Mark a diagonal line on the wrong side of one square. Sew 1/4” away from both sides of the marked line. Cut on the marked line, creating two half-square triangles (HSTs). Press toward the darker fabric. Trim to 2-1/2” square. Repeat to make four A/B HSTs.

Step 4: Sew the top and bottom Border 1 pieces to the quilt center. Press toward the borders. Sew the side Border 1 pieces to the sides of the quilt center. Press toward the borders.
Step 6: Sew two 1-1/2” Fabric I squares and two 1-1/2” Fabric F squares together to form a 2-1/2” square four-patch. Press the seams toward the darker fabric and press the row seams open. Make forty-eight four-patch blocks.
Step 5: Sew the top and bottom Border 2 pieces to the quilt center. Press toward the borders. Sew the side Border 2 pieces to the sides of the quilt center. Press toward the borders.

Step 3: Arrange the HSTs and sixteen 2-1/2” Fabric K squares into eight rows of eight. Note the fabric placement and block orientation in the Block Assembly Diagram. Sew the units together to form rows. Press the rows to the left in the odd numbered rows and to the right in the even numbered rows. Sew the rows together to form the Center Square. Press the row seams open. The Center Square should measure 16-1/2” square.
Step 7: Sew eleven four-patch units together, following the Quilt Assembly Diagram, to make the left and right Border 3 pieces. Sew to the quilt center and press.
Step 8: Sew thirteen four-patch units together, following the Quilt Assembly Diagram, to make the top and bottom Border 3 pieces. Sew to the quilt center and press.

Step 9: Sew the side Border 4 pieces to the sides of the quilt center. Press toward the borders. Sew the top and bottom Border 4 pieces to the quilt center. Press toward the borders.

Step 17: Repeat the process from Step 1, using 3” Fabric F and Fabric K squares to make ninety-six 2-1/2” F/K HSTs.
Step 18: Sew twenty-three HSTs together, following the orientation shown in the Quilt Assembly Diagram, to make the left and right Border 10 pieces. Sew to the quilt center and press.
Step 16: Sew the top and bottom Border 9 pieces to the quilt center. Press toward the borders. Sew the side Border 9 pieces to the sides of the quilt center. Press toward the borders.

Step 12: Repeat the process from Step 1, using 3” Fabric E and Fabric I squares to make seventy-two 2-1/2” E/I HSTs.
Step 11: Sew the side Border 6 pieces to the sides of the quilt center. Press toward the borders. Sew the top and bottom Border 6 pieces to the quilt center. Press toward the borders.
Step 15: Sew the top and bottom Border 8 pieces to the quilt center. Press toward the borders. Sew the side Border 8 pieces to the sides of the quilt center. Press toward the borders.

Step 19: Sew twenty-five HSTs together, following the orientation shown in the Quilt Assembly Diagram, to make the top and bottom Border 10 pieces. Sew to the quilt center and press.

Step 22: Gather and arrange the 3-1/2” tall rectangles, following the Quilt Assembly Diagram for fabric placement and piece size. Sew together to form the side Border 13 pieces. Repeat for the top and bottom Border 13 units. Sew to the quilt and press.
Your quilt top is complete. Baste, quilt, bind and enjoy!
