Education Week - Open Day Thank you to all the parents, grandparents and carers who were able to attend last Wednesdays Open Day. The sun was shining and the students had a wonderful time showing off a few of the wonderful programs running at GPPS to over 400 visitors. The Shutterbugs presentation was followed by the amazing dance groups “The Great Gatsby” & “Warrior”. Both of these dance groups are performing this week at the Penrith Valley Performing Arts Festival. Year 6 did another dance routine led by the Dance2Bfit instructor. This was followed with open classes and a sausage sizzle. A great day had by everyone!
Road Safety Please take care when dropping children off to school in the mornings and afternoons. A concerned parent phoned last week as one of our parents double parked and let their child cross the road in the middle of lots of traffic. Please ensure your son or daughter uses the crossing which is supervised before and after school. The safety of the students here is

From the Principal Dear Parents Last Friday the Aboriginal cultural group came together at lunch time to make some healthy smoothies using traditional bush tucker ingredients. Each student was given a copy of the recipe from the book "Feeding your Mob with Fruit and Veg". The students read through the recipe with Miss Corner before following the steps to make a healthy smoothie. Mrs Dalitz helped prepare the ingredients while the students shared their thoughts on the different fruits. The students enjoyed sharing the delicious drink.
State Rugby League Carnival On Monday 28th July, Rugby League players from Years 3-6 represented our school and the entire Penrith District at the NSW State All Schools Rugby League carnival. The boys represented themselves, the school and the district with pride and showed great skill and sportsmanship. The junior team made the top 20 in the State and were unlucky not to make it deeper in the competition, with the eventual winners in their group. The senior side made it to the top four in the State, once again going down to the eventual winners in a very close encounter. We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the boys on an excellent season and thank parents and caregivers for their support of the Rugby League program in 2014.
