It gives me immense joy in presenting our own institute in-house newsletter “GBS FO-
CUS”. A lot of efforts have gone in the making of this issue which serves the purpose of
showcasing various important activities happening in GBS campus. I am very confident
that GBS Focus carries the innate potential to create deep impact in the minds of all
readers, through increased awareness, and improved interaction ,leading to larger visibil-
ity and impact for GBS.
GBS Focus has been designed with a broader objective of informing, inspiring and engag-
ing diverse group of readers that include our esteemed alumni, industry partners, faculty,
staff, students, parents and other well wishers of GBS. By maintaining the faith and in-
terest of its readers, GBS Focus truly aspires to inform the happenings at the institute
and strengthen its commitment to various stake holders. The newsletter covers various
important activities at the institute viz. Market Touch Point Series (MTP), Mastermind
Series, Cultural programmes and a host of other allied activities that have left a mark at
the institute in the stated month. I sincerely hope you enjoy reading this issue as much as
we have enjoyed making it !!! Any suggestions towards betterment of the newsletter is

Navaratri is celebrated in India with great devotion for 10 days. People play Dandiya
and Garba. They seek strength from Goddess Durga to fight against all evils. Each of
the 9 days is dedicated to one particular form of Goddess Durga andeach day is symbolic
with a particular colour.
Cultural Committee of GBS organised “NAVARATRI COLOUR FEST” from
10th October, 2018 to 17th October, 2018 to invoke and seek blessings of Goddess
Durga. As each day is symbolized with a particular colour, Cultural committee of GBS
had set different colour attire for each day during Navaratri. It was initiated for all the
Faculties, Staff and Students of Global Business School. Everyone participated actively
and came dressed in the specified colour attire for each of the 9 days. Photo sessions
were held every day and the same were made visible on GBS social media pages.
The Colour Fest was celebrated for 8 days and colour attire for each day was as follows.
Day 1 - Royal Blue Colour
Royal blue colour represents strong
energy and tranquility.
Day 2 - Yellow Colour
Yellow colour represents happiness
and brings optimism and confidence
in life.

ity, unconditional love and richness
Day 4 - Pink Colour
Pink colour represents hope and new
beginning.

This is the colour of fame, popularity
and money. The colour also adds cha-
risma to your aura.
Day – 6 White Colour
This colour is the symbol of peace,
prayer, faith, stability and accords po-
liteness and innocence.

CAMPUS DRIVE BY ITC LTD on 24th September 2018
ITC kickstarted its ITC CAMPUS YUVA CHALLENGE ACTIVITY @ GBS CAMPUS
on 24th September through a series of Quiz competitions, Workshop, PrePlacement
Talk and an Online test. The YUVA CHALLENGE ACTIVITY is intended to test the stu-
dents on selling skills, ability to connect marketing concepts to onground observations,
gather product category and consumer related insights via a selection test and formation
of teams culminating in to a grand YUVA Finale to be conducted at Bangalore. Mr.
Praveen Babu, Area Sales Manager (FMCG division) ITC, Bangalore, Mr. Amit Joshi,

Business Head , (Personal Care products), ITC Bangalore and Mr. Umesh Area Sales
Executive were present in the campus to conduct the activity.
The students are chosen on the basis of their performance in the online test and the se-
lected students need to form teams and undertake a 3 day marketing activity in the field
and present the inputs with ITC Senior Managers panel at Bangalore. The selected stu-
dents from the Finale would be given an opportunity to work with the FMCG Major as
Sales Trainees. Students from GBS – Marketing Major & Minor participated in the
drive.
CAMPUS DRIVE BY KARVY STOCK BROKING LTD on 1st October 2018
KARVY STOCKBROKING LTD conducted a Financial awareness workshop on Sep 29th
& 30th Sep at GBS Campus for the students of MBA Finance from North Karnataka.
Students from SDM Dharwad, KIMS Dharwad, AITM Belgavi & AIMR Sankeshwar,
registered and attended the workshop for 2 days followed by a campus interview in GBS
on 1st October for the positions of Equity Advisors at Karvy, Hyderabad.

Mr. Viplav Dhandukia, Sr. Analyst, Karvy was the trainer for the workshop and Mr.
Pradeep Kumar Nayak, HR, Karvy undertook the campus interviews. The interview
process was conducted by an Online test and Personal Interview rounds. A total number
of 126 students from various institutions participated in the campus drive.
Global Business School is proud to announce a grand start to the placements of 2017-19
batch. Five students from MBA (Finance) specialisation have been selected for the posi-
tions of Equity advisors with Karvy Stock broking Ltd at Hyderabad for a salary package
of 10 lakhs CTC (2.5 Lakh basic pay & 7.5 lakh as variable pay).
Campus drive by ASIAN PAINTS on 13th October 2018
Asian Paints Ltd visited Global Business School campus on 13th Oct 2018 to conduct a
campus drive for their requirements of TSOs (Territory Sales Officers) across Karnataka.
Prior to visiting the campus, Asian Paints had conducted an Online test for selection of
prospective students from various B-Schools across North Karnataka and had selected 45
students to attend the next rounds of interviews (GD & PI) and select the potential can-
didates. Out of 45 students, 16 students cleared the GD rounds and attended the Per-
sonal Interview rounds.
Campus drive by BHASH SOFTWARE LABS on 24th October 2018
BHASH Software Labs conducted a cmpus drive at Global Business School on 24th Octo-
ber 2018. Ms. Shruthi Surya Kumar, HR Manager & Mr. Mushtaque Arlikatti, HR Ex-
ecutive visited the campus and conducted Group discussions & Personal Interviews for

the positions of Business development Executives (Inside Sales) from the 2017-19
batch. is proud to announce a grand start to the placements of 2017-19 batch.
A well celebrated birthday is an excellent gift in itself. It's the joy & smile that it brings
that counts. GBS believes in celebrating the birthdays of its extended family. Birthdays
are a good avenue to bring in a culture of camaraderie and belongingness.
The birthday celebrations of the following staff of GBS were carried out with much en-
thusiasm and of course with cakes and savories. Mrs. Shweta Doddamani coordinated

MARKET TOUCH POINT SERIES
A session on Career in Sales & Marketing (Insurance and Hospital Industry) was con-
ducted as part of the 3rd Market Touch Point (MTP) Series of Global Business School,
Hubli. The session was conducted on 26/10/2018 at GBS Auditorium from 12:15pm to
1:15pm for the MBA 2nd Year Students. Inline with the objective of Market Touch Point
Series, the session intended to develop a clear understanding about career in the Insur-
ance and Hospital Indutry and to provide market exposure to students vis-à-vis the said
industry. The session started with discussion on the basic difference between sales and
marketing and it continued onto the sub-area of what is hospital marketing? The
speaker emphasized more on the opportunity/ies available in the insurance and medical
services for a management graduate.
A fresh postgraduate in the corporate world, will face innumerable challenges but the la-
tent opportunities in the field were elaborated with statistics regarding the number of
insured people in India. The Speaker also touched upon the following questions
1. What does medical sales & marketing involve?,
2. What will the students actually do as a medical sales and insurance sales profes-
sional?
Further the session delved on the types of insurance offerings and also the value of Hu-
man life. Over all, the ses-
sion was successful in
achieving its objectives.

INTERNATIONAL TOUR TO MALAYSIA
The Batch of 2017-19 , visited MALAYSIA for thier International Industry tour The tour
duration was from 3rd October 2018 to 10th October 2018. The main objectives of the in-
dustry tour, are to provide an insight regarding internal workings of companies, which
helps students of MBA to compare the theoretical knowledge to the practical knowledge
coupled with the knowledge of industry and work culture at Malaysia.
On 5th October 2018, we reached the Heart of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur. The first place
we visited was the twin tower also called „The Petronas Tower‟. According to CTBUH,
they were the tallest buildings in the world since 1998 and remain the tallest twin tower
till day with 88 floors. Further we visited Cocoa Boutique, a Chocolate Factory and Out-
let, where we understood how the chocolates are manufactured and marketed. Post
Chocolate factory visit we visited the Kings Palace and then National Monument and day
closed with visit to Independence Square.
On 6th October 2018: Second day in Malaysia, we visited Pewter Factory which is known
for its art work and making of Jewellery, Sil-
verware, Glass art etc. After visiting this fac-
tory we went on for shopping at China town
and Time Square. 7th October 2018: we visited
Sunway Lagoon. It is a theme park in Bandar
Sunway, Selangor. Students played in water and enjoyed most of the games and also
with an understanding of the business aspect.
On the fourth day 8th of October 2018, we visited
Yakult factory @ 10.50 am, a Japanese business
house, learnt the process of manufacturing Ya-
kult and other products. They conducted a small
seminar regarding Yakult, the invention and for
whom it is applied. Yakult consists of probiotic
bacteria by which the many health issues prevalent across globe, can be avoided.

INTERNATIONAL TOUR TO MALAYSIA
After Yakult the journey begins to Genting
highlands by cable cars. We visited Genting
highlands which has more than 7200 rooms
and the largest shopping centre in entire
Malaysia and followed by dinner at coffee
tree restaurant which has the combination
of Italian, Chinese, Japanese, Western,
post which we visited the skyway casino which is the legal casino in entire Malaysia., It
was an awesome experience where we have seen the huge casino and learnt how casino is
played. On the fifth day that is on 9th of October 2018, we first visited the watch outlet
wherein branded watches were sold, we were the customers of those big branded wrist
watches. Further we moved towards the Batu caves. Batu caves has the Lord Muruga
(Subramanya) statue painted in gold colour and the entrance has 272 steps which are
painted in rainbow simulation. Later we have visited Putrajaya and Cyberjaya city in
Malaysia which is known for its late 20th century architecture which includes Putra
mosque, made from red coloured granite with pink dome and it is the national mosque of
Malaysia. We thank GEN society and our Director for the Memorable International In-
dustrial Visit.
