Regional Feature phone Market Share
• Global feature phone shipments increased 5% annually reaching 111 million units in Q2 2018.• The growth in the segment was led by MEA, where shipments grew 17% YoY. With 46% feature phone penetration, it remains a sizeable market in MEA.• Jio which was absent in 2017Q2 is now the market leader. Jio was able to disrupt the market by offering free calls, attractive data tariffs with an engaging ecosystem of applications in an affordable feature phone. • Nokia HMD (37% YoY) was one of the fastest growing brands globally in the segment. Nokia HMD was able to address the latent demand of high quality feature phones which fuelled its growth. • Shipments for iTel, the market leader in MEA, declined 5% YoY globally and 10% YoY in MEA, even though the market in MEA grew. It faced tough competition from small local players.

Regional Smartphone Market Share
• Global smartphone shipments declined 2% annually reaching 363 million units in Q2 2018.• MEA was the only region to experience double digit growth at 14% YoY. NAM declined the most at 21% YoY.• Samsung led the smartphone market by volume, even though it registered an annual decline of 11%.• Huawei grew 41% YoY to become the second largest smartphone brand, surpassing Apple. The growth came from markets outside China, where shipments increased 71% YoY.• Shipments for Nokia HMD grew 782% YoY, making it one of the fastest growing smartphone brands.• Shipments for Apple were up 1% annually. It experienced a slow quarter in China and India. • Samsung is the only Global brand to capture a spot in the top 5, in Asia. The top 4 Chinese brands captured over half of the market.
