33% of children and 25% of women are malnourished

1 out of 5 children born with low birth weight

14% of children under the age of five suffer from acute malnutrition (wasting)

Nearly 58% of infants between 6 and 11 months and 38% children between 12 - and 23 months are anemic.

- 70% of population with safe sanitation

Regional disparities mean situation remains grim for many children and women

33% of households have no access to sanitation

25% of households have no access to safe drinking water

18% of the child population lacks access to any water supply or sanitation facility or service

Large percentage of children suffer from some form of diarrheal disease yearly.

High percentage of their 10,000 schools do not have adequate water and sanitation facilities and about 600 do not have any at all
