“ Why should you join HSBC?

What’s it like to work at HSBC?What our interns and graduates sayOur recent cohort of interns and graduates tell us why they joined HSBC and what it is really like to be part of our Intern and Graduate programmes:

What advice do you wish you’d been given?

“ If I could go back and give myself some advice when I was applying I would say, don’t limit yourself to things you think you are interested in. Say yes to everything that comes your way, because until you try it, you never know.

Isabella Wong, Global Asset Management – Hong Kong

Pursue your interests and don’t be afraid to try new things. The culture here is all about having the

courage to logically challenge the status quo and bring a new perspective, so if that sounds

like you then HSBC could be the perfect fit.

Ramit Soni, HSBC Security Services – India

I didn’t come from a finance background, having studied Geography at university. But the great thing about HSBC is that they really invest time in your learning and development. If they want you to know something, they will teach it to you.

Johnny Moon Commercial Banking – UK

Ultimately, the reason I accepted the offer at HSBC was because of the people I met during the process.

I was an international student in Canada and being part of a welcoming, international environment

at HSBC made me feel instantly at home.

Usman Ahmed Global Markets – Canada

Every stage of the recruitment and selection process* is about exploring your strengths. You’ll learn a lot about yourself – especially because we provide you an individual feedback report to aid your development. At each step, you’ll also discover more about what it’s like to be part of our global bank.

Ready to apply? So what’s next?

• The first step is to choose your programme. You can only apply for one globally, so think carefully. Consider what excites you, what you want to learn more about, and what you can see yourself doing in the future.

• Once you’ve picked your programme, complete our online application form. We’ll ask you to answer a series of short questions about your eligibility for the role.

• If your application meets our eligibility requirements, you’ll be invited to take the Online Immersive Assessment, where you will watch a documentary which provides an insight into graduate life at HSBC. We’ll ask questions that assess your behaviour and cognitive skills. It is at this stage you’ll receive your feedback report to support your on-going development regardless of whether you progress to the next stage.

• You’ll then experience a Job Simulation which will give you a deeper insight into the business area you’ve applied to. You will be presented with fictitious information and be asked to analyse numerical data, provide written and verbal answers in response to the questions presented.

• The final stage is a half-day Assessment Centre or ‘Super Day’. Across a number of exercises and a face-to-face strengths-based interview, you’ll be assessed by key members of the relevant business area.

We look forward to receiving your application.
