We facilitate this through our award-winning internship programs in Barcelona, Beijing, Hong Kong, London, Madrid, Shanghai, Singapore and Stockholm. With over 30 industry specialisations available, we provide participants with the opportunity to develop a professional network, meet diverse, driven, like-minded students and to learn from industry experts too.

Absolute Internship has partnered with Western University to offer aspiring teachers the chance to pursue work experience in Barcelona, Spain.

In collaboration with Barcelona’s city government, we have developed a unique program offering up to 8 places. Travel, live and work abroad in one of the most captivating cities in the world.

This experience operates as part of the Western University Alternative Field Experience placement program.

Having Zoe with us has enriched the English Department both personally and culturally. Her input has been utterly invaluable for students, as well as for staff.

Before I arrived, I was unsure of how I would be received as a foreign student teacher, especially when there was such a substantial language barrier. I was pleasantly surprised to see the students immediately express a deep level of curiosity and interest in my accent, my culture, my country, and my life in general. This made me feel as if I was truly a part of the school community.

As a more introverted individual, I had many self-doubts about being immersed in a different culture, with unfamiliar customs, social conventions, and of course, a completely new language to learn. I was unsure of how I would manage so many new experiences at once.

I quickly learned, however, that my worries were insignificant when I began to see the positive influence I brought to the school. I believe this experience has broadened my perspective of the world, and what an honour it is to be embarking on this career path.

I have gained experience working in an international education setting, teaching English to language learners, and now have a deeper understanding of the difficulties and challenges of adapting to a completely new environment.

Why Barcelona?From an education perspective, Barcelona is a fascinating city that truly embraces bilingualism with all locals knowing Spanish and Catalan.

Since 1983, all public schools in the autonomous region of Catalonia have embraced a bilingual educational system teaching in both languages.

Starting in 1989, schools across Catalonia started to incorporate multilingual education with foreign languages such as English, French and German.

The local government has placed a strong importance on educating multilingual students.

This provides an excellent learning opportunity for students of education to be exposed to a different system that values multiple languages and cultures.
