GPS CURRICULUM METHODOLOGY

AIM: To allow players of all ages and abilities, to develop to their full potential, in an ENJOYABLE, CHALLENGING and POSITIVE environment. OBJECTIVES:• Create a clear and simple pathway for player development.

• Always keep the player at the centre of the development process.

• Allow players as much active time with a ball each as possible.

- At 5v5, teams will consist of 1 goalkeeper, 1 defender, 2 mid� elders and 1 attacking player.

Set up/Rules3v3+1 (can adapt depending on numbers) in a 25x25 yard area with 4 mini square insides. To get a point They have to get into 3 squares and execute 3 di� erent ball manipulation.

Coaching Points- Use sole of feet to move the ball forwards and backwards.- Have your head up to see the space - Without possession create an angle

Set up/Rules15x15 yard areaEach player has a ball and moves it around the area with creative footwork using all parts of the foot and both feet.Challenge the players with lots of di� erents moves, dribblings, turnings, skills and combinations.Di� erent speed of movement and performance.

Coaching Points- Awareness - Head up scanning area- Keep the ball close - Use sole of foot to move ball and change direction

Set up/RulesPlace 2 cones 20 yards apart in line with a goal. Place 2 more cones 10 yards apart 5 yards from the cone nearest the goal to create a cross. (see diagram)Red team will dribble the ball at speed from one cone to the other, stop the ball to allow the next person to step onto it and repeat.The white team will dribble between the cones and join the opposite line.The lines being crossed makes the practice semi opposed and players needing to be aware of tra� c. Set up/RulesSplit players in groups of 4. All the players perfom the same skills. 1st pull back with the right foot and inside touch to the right. 2nd pull back and inside touch to the left side, than same thing with left foot and outside pass to the right cone, all the players rotate to the left side.

Coaching Points:- Timing - Recognize trigger (keep your eyes on your teammates)- Speed of ejecution - Set to ejecute (on your toes)

Progression- Stops & Starts- Sole Stop/Sole Roll (left,right,forwards)- Sole Stop/ laces push- Inside stop/inside start (hip twist)- Outside Stop/Outside Start (Spin)- Sole stop/sole start

Progression- Inside taps and dribble to the right side.- To the left side- 3 Roll overs with both feet and switch cone to the right

Progression- White team now pass the ball between the cones and join the back of the line they start in.- Take away the cone nearest the goal. Red team now dribble to shoot for goal, being aware of the ball coming across from the white team.- Red team get a point for every goal scored.- White team get a point for each complete pass between the cones.- Switch teams after 2 mins.

Progression- Add 2 mini goals to score after they get 3 squares. One goal is 2 more points.

Set up/Rules 5v5 in half of futsal � eld. Double goal after perform some skills in a 1v1 situation

Coaching Points- Be brave in the � nal third to take 1v1 situations.- Receive passes with sole part of foot- Players with ball always have to have 2 passing options.

Set up/RulesFirst player from each line dribbles to the central cone, around the cone and back to the group. Next person in line goes after a high 5.

Set up/RulesHave one defender inside the box. First player from each team tries to dribble through the box to another group.2 points if player dribbles straight through to opposite side.1 point if they dribble through to the left or right.

Defender gains a point if they can touch the top of a players ball with their foot.

Coaching Points- Dribble fast into space- Change speed or direction to beat defender

Set up/Rules30x25 yard area with 2 end zones with 6 cones inside. 3v3+1. Everytime a player comes in the end zone with the ball, just one defender can go in. If the player dibbles the defender and gets to the end, 2 point, if the player dribbles 1 cone gets 1 point.

Coaching Points- Decision making between passing or drib-bling- Create an angles out of possession- Be brave to take the dribbling in the � nal third.

Set up/RulesOne line in front of another one. The play-ers must drive till � nd the perfect timing to dribble in the same way, so one will go right and the other left. Use: Scissor right/left, double scissor, roulette and roll over+ step over.

Set up/RulesSplit players evenly on outside cones with a ball at each cone. Players dribble to opposite cone and stop ball for next player.

Set up/RulesCreate a 15x15 yard area with a small goal on 3 sides of the area.Split into two teams, attackers & defenders. Defenders start in one corner of the area, attackers start centrally on the side without a goal.. Defending team (white) pass ball into attacking team (red) Attacking team try and dribble ball through any of the 3 goals to gain a point. If defender steal the ball they try and pass back to the next person in their team.

Coaching Points- Dribble at speed- Head up to � nd spare gate- Turn an attack other gate if defender blocks space

Set up/Rules15x15yard.. 1v1 in each � eld. If defender wins the ball, has just one chance to score. Once the play ends, the players switch roles. Rotate players to defend and attack against di� erent players.

Set up/Rules10x10 yard. 4v2 with 3 teams of 2 players. When the 2 defenders win the ball, team who missed pass gets in.

Set up/RulesSame set up than previous drill. 1A pass to 2A, this pass back to 1A who passes to 3A to do a give and go with 2A (who turned around after passing back to 1A).

Set up/Rules36x44 yard area with 2 goals, Place 4 cones 10 yards apart, 16 yards from goal as shownHave 4 even groups 5 yards either side of each goal post.1 player stands on each of the cones in the centre area.Player 1 plays a straight pass to player 2 and follow pass as shown. Player 2 receives to shoot in 2 touch-es. Follow up shot then join other line. Both sides work simultaneously. Coaching Points- Hit the target- Follow up shots- Use Both Feet- Laces for power/inside of foot for placement/ toe as a resource to � nish quick

Set up/RulesPlaying back to goal. Groups of 3 play-ers. 2 attackers and 1 defender. Player who is back to goal try to turn and � nish to the far post. Switch roles with the oth-er 2 players. Also switch sides to shoot with the other foot. They have to � nish before cones lines.

Coaching Points:- Receive with sole part and shield the ball- Keep the ball away from the defender in a sideways body position.- Quick turn and � nish.

Set up/Rules 30x25 yard area with two � anks of 7 yard. Two goals with goalkeeper. 4v4+2 outside. In the � ank areas the players inside can’t get pressure. 1st touch goal 2 point, 1st touch goal after cross 3 points.

Coaching Points- Take the shoot asap in the � nal third- Body shape to kick the ball- Lean your body forward in order to get a good high.- Kick the ball in the middle

Set up/RulesPlayers in pairs. Two 3 yard box separate with a cone gate, 1 player in each box. Pass each other through the gate using 1st touch. Everytime you pass well, gets 1 point.

Coaching Points- Body behind the ball- Quick feet to get a good body shape- Use a proper surface

Set up/RulesGroups of 4 players. 3 di� erent type of passes, for 3 di� erent type of � nishes. 1st with laces, 2nd with inside part (ball on the ground) and 3rd laces/outside (aerial). Both feet.

Coaching Points- Open body shape to kick the ball- Lean your body forward in order to get a good high.- Kick the ball in the middle- Take a quick look at the goal before shooting.

Set up/Rules1-2-1 formation. 1 cone in each position.1 pass to 4, 4 pass back to 2 who pass into the space for 3 . Then the ball starts in 4 to do the same passing combination but inside out. Players do the rotation on their right.

Coaching Points:- Proper weight and accuracy.- Keep the ball on the ground to facili-tate your partner’s control- Don’t wait till the ball arrives, attack it.

Progression- The ball can just bounce 1 time in each box. Like soccer tennis. - Create a competition with Levels. Do the same but playing in pairs.

Progression- Add 2 goals, one each side to score after the last pass

Progression- Add bibs on the top corners and cones on the bottom corners to improve accuracy and get points.

Progression- While the ball is on the left � ank, the player in the right can play inside to create overload in the middle.
