GLOBAL TRANSACTION BANKING

The Oliver Wyman Global Transaction Banking Benchmarking Study was established in 2009/2010 and has measured the world’s largest banking institutions. The study compares banks’ key performance indicators such as revenue, market share and cost across several dimensions including client segment, product and geography.

Participation in the benchmarking study provides numerous benefits:

• Improved, fact-driven strategic planning and decision making using survey results

• Better performance through a focused sales approach and coverage model

• Input into internal and external communication material, covering all client demographics

• Survey reporting structure to identify and close Management information gaps

• Fact base for superior investment planning, decision making and budgeting

THE STUDY

The consistent and detailed nature of the market and benchmarking data means institutions can understand the competitive structure of the industry and identify marketing development opportunities. The annual assessment of a large group of institutions results in a comparative set of benchmarks over time which track individual firm and overall industry progress.

THE RESULTS

The study offers an invaluable insight into the size of the market and its growth rates. It compares performance against competitors and assesses the capabilities of the business. Each participant receives a detailed, customized report which covers a broad range of topics including market context, revenues, costs, investments, capabilities and strategic themes.

Oliver Wyman’s study is the only one in the industry to gather and analyse data at this level of detail. The benchmarking is structured to guarantee globally consistent results, as well as comprehensive coverage of geographies, customer segments, products, and like-for-like comparison of the key business metrics. The database created as a result of the benchmarking process provides a rich and powerful source of information year on year.

OPTIONAL ANALYSIS

There are two additional modules of analysis that complement the core survey:

Customer Wallet Analysis is a total wallet sizing and a share of market analysis. This is done for the top 3,000 largest clients in EMEA and NA respectively, and top 1,000 clients in APAC. The module allows identification of regional and sectoral nuances by providing insight into each bank’s share of the wallet and individual product strengths on a customer by customer basis.

Voice of Customer Survey analyses the perception of your institution in a chosen region by interviewing clients about their buying behaviour. It is designed to provide a better understanding of customers and their decision making criteria. The survey is offered annually and the interviews cover selection criteria and perceived performance rankings.
