Carbon Dioxide Carbon Dioxide is one of the main causes Fossil fuels:

- burning- cars- airplanes- coal plants

Deforestation:- All living plants store carbon-Carbon dioxide released every time a plant dies

Carbon Dioxide Carbon Sink:

- Stores carbon- Artic tundra- sinks fail, carbon released into atmosphere

Oceans:- Giant carbon sinks- stores 50 times more carbon than the atmosphere

Methane 100 times more powerful than carbon dioxide. Created when:

- Bacteria breaks down natural matter- Matter trapped under water

- rice paddies- Intestines of herbivorous animals

- cows- sheep- goats

- Land fills

Methane Clathrates

- frozen pieces of ice and methane at bottom of ocean

As water heats ice melts releasing methane

Nitrogen Oxide Traps heat 300 times more the carbon

dioxide. Get released every time a plant is

fertilized

How do you prevent Global Warming? Reuse, reduce, recycle Use less heating and air-conditioning Buy energy efficient products Plant a tree Turn off lights when not in use
