What is global warming? Global warming is the heating of the earth. Global

warming is caused by greenhouse gases (carbon dioxide, water vapour, nitrous oxide, and methane). The gases trap the heat and light from the sun and the light and heat can’t escape the atmosphere. This rises the earth’s temperature and causes global warming. This affects people, animals and plants. They can’t adapt to the new temperature and die.

How is it affecting us? Global warming affects

the weather and can cause long droughts. Global warming is also affecting plants and animals. Most animals and plants need a certain temperature to survive. If animals get too cold they die of hypothermia. If they are too hot, they die of heatstroke. To survive, they need to go to a habitat with their suitable needs. For the plants, they will get to frozen when cold and wilted when hot.

Who is responsible?

Global warming is caused by electrical appliances, factories and things that release carbon dioxide. Humans are also responsible for global warming. We release greenhouse gases by doing activities like smoking and even breathing.

How is it affecting the Earth?

Greenhouse gases is affecting the Earth from destroying the ozone layer. The ozone layer is a line of ozone that stops too much sunlight going in. Greenhouse gases break this layer and all of the sunlight shining in the hole will go inside. The hole is about 26 million square kilometres and is expanding every hour. The gaping hole above

Antarctica. This was recorded in September 12, 2011

How can we fix/prevent it?

We can fix/prevent global warming by reducing the use of cars, trucks, electronic devices, burning fossil fuels and smoking. All of these things release greenhouse gases and harm the Earth.
