PANEL SESSION 601 Tuesday 12:15 -1:45 PM(Palomar)Meeting the competitive challenge of the 90s: Using theMalcom Baldrige Award Criteria as a CompetitiveStrategy in the Global Marketplace
Today there is intense competition for world markets. As morecompanies begin to offer similar products and services, thedistinguishing characteristic that sets a supplier apart is quality.Quality is becoming the competitive advantage in the globalmarketplace.
Many U.S. companies are using the criteria of the MalcomBaldrige National Quality Award to focus their internal effortsand those of their suppliers on meeting the competitive challengeof the 1990s. The Malcolm Baldrige Award was established in1988 to promote quality improvement as a top priority in theUnited States. It has rapidly become the standard of excellencefor corporate quality cultures in America.
A lunchtime panel discussion will present the experiences ofthree telecommunications companies currently applying theBaldrige criteria in their corporations. The panelists includethose leading the Baldrige challenge in New England Telephone,AT&T, and GTE.
