President’sMessage
Become One of Tomorrow’sVisionary Leaders
Yoshito Hori is one of Japan's most prominent entrepreneurs and philanthropists. An MBA
holder from Harvard Business School, Mr. Hori is a leading driver of change in the Japanese
business community and a regular speaker at events such as the World Economic Forum.
Yoshito HoriPresident and FounderGraduate School of Management,GLOBIS University
“When I began my own journey as an MBA student a little over 25 years ago, I never dreamed I would be
president of my own school, let alone the largest business management school in Japan.
Back in those days, ‘entrepreneur ’ was not a recognized career path in Japan, where the best and the
brightest were expected to follow, rather than lead, and to work their way up within well-established
companies. This perception, however, is beginning to fade, and with thousands of students enrolled every
year, GLOBIS is putting people in the driver’s seat of their career and helping them achieve their personal
mission in life.
Finding your life’s goal – in Japanese – is a requirement for all GLOBIS students, and something
that sets us apart from other business schools. We believe an MBA is more than a degree, and a career is
more than a job. Whether you want to start your own company like me, or bring renewed innovation to the
biggest names in business, GLOBIS will help you find your personal mission and give you the skills and
network you need to make it a reality.
Realize your dreams at GLOBIS and become one of tomorrow’s visionary leaders, who create and innovate
societies.”

"The practicality and interactivity of GLOBIS classes add a lot of value to my MBA experience. Taking classes after work at night, I really appreciate being able to engage in fast-paced, high energy discussions rather than listening to long lectures. The curriculum is very practical and applicable to my work, and because the lecturers are all business professionals, I can tap into a wealth of current, real-world experience and insights from every class."

Beyond a Business School
Venture Capital
Since the launch of its first fund in 1996, Globis Capital Partners has grown to become one of Japan’s leading venture capital firms, investing in over 150 companies and overseeing dozens of IPOs. Having a close relationship with these start-ups, their executives often speak at GLOBIS events and conferences, providing students with a unique insider experience.
Corporate Training
GLOBIS trains executives and managers from many of Japan’s top companies through its Corporate Education programs. By working closely with these clients, GLOBIS gains insider knowledge and a network that flows back to benefit its MBA students. Having provided training to over 117,000 participants from around 1600 companies in 2017 alone, few in Japan can match GLOBIS’ reputation for quality management education.
Knowledge Platform
Digital media platform GLOBIS Insights publishes content on the latest business trends and globalization of Japan. Articles and videos feature experts from many different industries, including GLOBIS faculty and alumni. GLOBIS’ print publications include over 100 titles, with 3 million books sold in total. GLOBIS’ position at the forefront of business acumen enables students to tap into a wide bank of real business insight.
GLOBIS aims to contribute to society by creating an ecosystem of people, capital, and knowledge. Beyond our MBA programs, we invest in start-ups and deliver expertise through our training and publishing platforms.
"GLOBIS online courses are engaging and interactive, with live discussions and student presentations, just like a real classroom. The combination of video, voice, and chat features makes every class feel lively and gives me many chances to share my ideas and get feedback from the lecturer and classmates. My work requires me to travel overseas, so the flexibility of taking many of my courses online makes it even easier to balance earning an MBA with my professional life."
Junjie WangChina, Part-time MBA 2015
Asia’s 1st Live Online MBA
Our online courses offer business professionals across the world the opportunity to learn together as if in the same classroom. Raise your virtual hand and share your opinion, join group work, and present your ideas using a digital whiteboard. GLOBIS online courses prove that quality education is no longer limited by physical location.
In our Online MBA, the course curriculum, materials, and faculty are the same as those found on-campus. Students can complete the MBA entirely online, or combine online and offline courses as they wish. Even students studying from a distance can take advantage of short programs such as the Japan MBA Experience and other exchange programs (see p. 21) to bridge the gap between online and offline learning.
At GLOBIS, we believe that online learning is the future of education, but the human element still plays a vital role. That is why we are proud to offer Asia’s first live and interactive online MBA.

Shoko ImaiHead of Alumni & Career OfficeGraduate School of Management, GLOBIS University
"For those wanting to start their professional career in Japan, I offer three pieces of advice:
Know thyself. Have a very clear idea about what you are looking for in a job. What is your preference in terms of industry, function and business model? What kind of customers do you want to serve? What are the conditions on which you are unable to compromise? Is it salary, location, coworkers, welfare, or brand recognition? GLOBIS created a course called Leadership Development, Ethics and Values, designed to help you better understand your priorities.
Be proactive. GLOBIS can introduce you to global companies, hold mock interviews and give CV guidance. However, it is impossible to get a job without taking the initiative yourself. You will need to do research, contact recruiters and expand your network.
Develop resilience. An MBA is not a magic bullet that will automatically lead to an ideal job. You may need to apply to many companies during your job search. In the process you might face some rejection but don’t be discouraged: it is often a good opportunity to reflect, learn, and move on. Some companies may require business- level Japanese, although even conversational level Japanese is effective in leaving a positive impression on your interviewers. Our Career Office is here to help you land your ideal job.
We hope to meet you soon at GLOBIS!"
