LEADER: Let us worship God. GOSPEL LESSON Matthew 25:1-13 1 Then the kingdom of heaven will be like this. The bridesmaids took their lamps *AFFIRMATION OF FAITH The Apostles' Creed I believe in God, the Father Almighty, the Maker of heaven and earth, and went to meet the bridegroom. 2 Five of them were foolish, and five were and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord: Who was conceived by wise. 3 When the foolish took their lamps, they took no oil with them 4 but the the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, wise took flasks of oil with their lamps. 5 As the bridegroom was delayed, all of was crucified, dead and buried; He descended into hell, The third day them became drowsy and slept. 6 But at midnight there was a shout, “Look! LITANY OF CONFESSION Reader: This is the word of the Lord. LEADER: I hate, I despise your feasts. Response: Thanks be to God. PEOPLE: O God, forgive our gluttony and greed. LEADER: I take no delight in your solemn assemblies. THE PASTORAL PRAYER PEOPLE: O God, forgive our unwillingness to rejoice in the gospel. LEADER: Even though you offer me your burnt offerings and cereal THE LORD'S PRAYER offerings, I will not accept them. PEOPLE: O God, forgive our lack of commitment. LEADER: The peace offerings of your fatted beasts I will not look upon. PEOPLE: O God, forgive our hesitancy to seek reconciliation. LEADER: Take away from me the noise of your songs. PEOPLE: O God, forgive our reluctance to listen when you speak. LEADER: To the melody of your harps I will not listen. PEOPLE: O God, have mercy upon us and hear our confession. As your justice rolls down upon us, may your righteousness cleanse us from all of our sin. THE ASSURANCE OF PARDON Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
