Why was it staged?The Food Festival was created to
attract more visitors to Gloucester’s
historic docks to help promote
regional food producers and showcase
the skills and creativity of local crafts-
people. As an established event it
benefits both visitors and local business
in the short and long term.

Who visits the event?Last year, two thirds of the Food
Festival’s visitors were in the ABC1
segment with the majority of overall
visitors female. Over 64% of visitors
were in the 25 to 54 age group.
In terms of visitor feedback, the 2013
Food Festival was very successful
almost all rated the festival positively
and thought the event really brought
the area to life.

What’s the on-going attraction?Over three days (Friday 18th to Sunday 20th July) visitors will be tempted by over
120 market stalls selling quality produce and artisan crafts from local producers.
There will also be a Cookery Theatre hosting live cookery demos presented
by popular TV celebrities, James Martin and Paul Hollywood. In previous years
these ticket-only demos have been very popular and have sold out before
the event.
During the festival, visitors can also enjoy a bite to eat as they listen to live bands
playing soul and swing to reggae and jazz. This wide range of music makes the
Village Green area the perfect place to relax and soak up the festival atmosphere.
Outlet shopping is a big part of the event’s appeal. At Gloucester Quays, there
are over 60 outlet stores, cafés and restaurants, with stores such as Denby Outlet,
Le Crueset, ProCook and Tefal saving visitors up to 70% off High Street prices.

Paul HollywoodMaking his first appearance at the Food Festival,
Paul must be the country’s most famous baker.
As well as being a judge on the Great British Bake
Off and making many other TV appearances,
Paul has written best selling books on baking,
makes regular contributions to The BBC Good
Food Magazine, Olive Magazine, Waitrose
Magazine and is a columnist for The Telegraph.
James MartinSince his first TV appearance in 1996, James
has rarely been off our screens. For the last six
years he has presented BBC1’s Saturday Kitchen
show, which recently hit a record 3.5 million
viewers. As a natural performer who loves to
share his passion for good food, James’ live
shows always attract a sell-out crowd. We are
delighted that he is back at this year’s festival.
