    Please read these simple guidelines.Not ollowing these guidelines maybe dangerous or illegal.

    Exposure to radio frequency

    energy

    Radio wave exposure and SpeciicAbsorption Rate (SAR) inormation.This mobile phone model GM730has been designed to comply with

    applicable saety requirements orexposure to radio waves. Theserequirements are based on scientiicguidelines that include saetymargins designed to ensure the

    saety o all persons, regardless oage and health.

    The radio wave exposureguidelines employ a unit omeasurement known as theSpeciic Absorption Rate, or SAR.Tests or SAR are conducted usingstandardised methods with thephone transmitting at its highest

    certiied power level in all used

    requency bands.

    While there may be dierencesbetween the SAR levels o variousLG phone models, they are alldesigned to meet the relevant

    guidelines or exposure to radiowaves.

    The SAR limit recommended bythe International Commission onNon-Ionizing Radiation Protection

    (ICNIRP) is 2W/kg averaged over10g o tissue.

    The highest SAR value or thismodel phone tested by DASY4 or

    use at the ear is 0.969 W/kg (10g)and when worn on the body is0.915 W/Kg(10g).

    SAR data inormation orresidents in countries/regions

    that have adopted the SAR limitrecommended by the Institute oElectrical and Electronics Engineers(IEEE), which is 1.6 W/kg averagedover 1g o tissue.

    I you are listening to music whilstout and about, please ensure thatthe volume is at a reasonablelevel so that you are aware o yoursurroundings. This is particularlyimperative when driving on roads.

    Avoid damage to your

    hearing

    Damage to your hearing can occuri you are exposed to loud sound orlong periods o time. We thereore

    recommend that you do not turn onor o the handset close to your ear.We also recommend that music andcall volumes are set to a reasonablelevel.

    Glass parts

    Some parts o your mobile deviceare made o glass. This glasscould break i your mobile device

    is dropped on a hard surace orreceives a substantial impact. Ithe glass breaks, do not touch orattempt to remove. Stop using your

    mobile device until the glass isreplaced by an authorized serviceprovider.

    Children

    Keep the phone in a sae placeout o the reach o small children.It includes small parts which maycause a choking hazard i detached.

    Emergency calls

    Emergency calls may not beavailable under all mobile networks.Thereore, you should never dependsolely on the phone or emergencycalls. Check with your local service

    provider.

    Battery information and care

    You do not need to completelydischarge the battery beore

    recharging. Unlike other batterysystems, there is no memoryeect that could compromise thebatterys perormance.

    Use only LG batteries and chargers.

    LG chargers are designed tomaximize the battery lie.

    Do not disassemble or short-circuitthe battery pack.

    Keep the metal contacts o thebattery pack clean.

    Replace the battery when itno longer provides acceptableperormance. The battery pack

    may be recharged hundreds otimes until it needs replacing.

    Recharge the battery i it hasnot been used or a long time to

    maximize usability. Do not expose the battery charger

    to direct sunlight or use it in highhumidity, e.g. in the bathroom.

    Do not leave the battery in hot

    or cold places, this may causethe battery perormance todeteriorate.

    There is a risk o explosion i the

    battery is replaced by an incorrecttype.

    Dispose o used batteriesaccording to the manuacturers

    instructions. Please recycle whenpossible. Do not dispose ashousehold waste.

    I you need to replace the battery,take it to the nearest authorized LG

    Electronics service point or dealeror assistance.

    Always unplug the charger romthe wall socket ater the phone isully charged to save unnecessarypower consumption by thecharger.

    Dials a phone number andanswers incoming calls.

    WARNING: Putting a heavy object on the phoneor sitting on it can damage its LCD and touch screenunctionality. Do not cover the protection lm on proximitysensor o LCD. It can cause a malunction o the sensor.

    Installing the USIM and battery

    1 Remove the battery cover

    Slide the battery cover towardsthe bottom o the phone andaway rom it.

    2 Remove the battery

    Using the cut-out at thebottom lit it rom the batterycompartment.

    WARNING: Do not removethe battery when the phoneis switched on, as this maydamage the phone.

    InstallingtheUSIMandbattery

    3 Install the USIM card

    Pull the USIM card holder out andput the USIM card into the USIMcard holder. Make sure the goldcolor contact area on the card is

    acing downwards. Push the USIMcard holder back.

    4 Install the battery

    First, insert the top o the batteryinto the top edge o the batterycompartment. Ensure that thebattery contacts align with the

    phones terminals. Press thebottom o the battery down untilit clips into place.

    5 Charging your phone

    Remove the charger socket coveron the side o your GM730. Insertthe charger and plug it into amains electricity socket. When

    you recharge your phone aterdevice switch o, the phones LEDlights up red.

    When the phone is ully charged,the LED lights up green.

    When the battery is ullydischarged, you can not power onthe phone. It takes approx. 5~10minutes to reach a charge state

    suicient or booting.

    I you press and hold the powerbutton or approx. 1 second incharging mode, the phone is

    turned on.

    NOTE: The battery must be ully

    charged initially to improvebattery lietime.

    WARNING: Do not connect thecharger to the phone without

    the battery. You must checkthe battery is inserted beorecharging.

    WARNING: Do not remove

    your battery or USIM card whilecharging.

    Memory card

    Installing a memory card

    You can expand the memory spaceon your phone by using a MicroSDmemory card.

    NOTE: A memory card is an optional

    accessory.Slide the memory card into the slotat the top until it clicks into place.Make sure the gold color contactarea is acing downwards.

    WARNING:Slide thememory card ully into the slot,otherwise, damage can occur.

    WARNING:Do not attach orremove memory card when thephone is switched on, as thismay damage memory card.

    Occasionally you may need to resetyour device. A normal (or sot)reset o your device clears all activeprogram memory and shuts downall active programs. This can be

    useul when the device is runningslower than normal, or a programis not perorming properly. A sotreset is also necessary ater theinstallation o some programs.

    I a sot reset is perormed whenprograms are running, unsavedwork will be lost.

    You can also perorm a hard reset

    (also known as a ull reset). A hardreset should only be perormedi a normal reset does not solve asystem problem. Ater a hard reset,the device is restored to its deault

    settingsthe way it was whenyou irst purchased it and turnedit on. Any programs you installed,data you entered, and settings youcustomized on the device will be

    lost.

    To perform a soft resetFind the Sot reset key. This is thesmall hole inside the charger socketcover on the right hand side o your

    device (shown enclosed by circles inthe picture below).Use the stylus to press the reset keyand hold it or a while. Your devicemay shut down. Press the POWER

    button, the device restarts anddisplays the Home Screen.

    Soft reset key

    To perform a hard reset

    A Hard Reset should only be

    perormed ater all other trouble

    shooting options have been

    exhausted. Ater a hard reset, thedevice is restored to its deault

    settings - the way it was when you

    irst purchased it and turned it on.

    Any programs you installed, data you

    entered, and settings you customized

    on your device will be lost.

    Power the device ON

    Tap Start > Settings > System

    tab > Clear Storage.

    Touch screen tips

    The Home Screen is also a greatplace to get used to using the touchscreen.

    To select an item, touch the centre

    o the icon.Do not press too hard; thetouchscreen is sensitive enoughto pick up on a light, irm touch.

    Use the tip o your inger totouch the option you require. Becareul not to touch any otherkeys.

    When the screen light is o, pressthe power key once to restore theHome Screen.

    Whenever your GM730 is notin use it will return to the lock

    screen.

    Calibrate the device

    Calibrating the device screeninvolves tapping with the stylus thecenter o a cross as it moves aroundthe screen. This process ensures that

    when you tap the screen with yourstylus, the tapped item is activated.

    I your device does not accuratelyrespond to screen taps, ollow thesesteps to re-calibrate.

    Tap Start > Settings > Systemtab > Screen.

    On the Alignment tab, touchAlign Screen, and ollow the

    instructions on the screen.Ater calibration is completed,Align screen reappears. ClickOKon upper right corner to return tosetting mode.

    Control the touch screen

    The controls on the GM730touch screen change dynamicallydepending on the task you arecarrying out.

    Opening Applications

    To open any Application simplytouch its icon.

    Scrolling

    Drag rom side to side to scroll.On some screens, such as webpages, you can also scroll up ordown.

    Select the Joystick function

    Tap Start > Settings > Systemtab > Optical Joystick.

    Select the Mouse Mode, i youwant to use the Joystick as a

    trackpad to control an on screenmouse pointer. Click OK on theupper right corner to return tosettings.

    NOTE: 4-Way Key perormance willbe depended on the speed o inger

    movement.

    How to use your Joystick

    Put your inger on the Joysticksensor and move smoothly.The Mouse cursor on the screenwill move with your inger

    movement. You don't need topress the Joystick when youmove the mouse cursor.

    Place the mouse cursor on theicon that you want to executeand press(click) the Joystick. Theapplication that you select will belaunched.

    Your Home Screen

    From this screen you can access menu options, make a call, view the status

    o your phone and do many other things.

    Select Home Screen

    Touch Start > Settings > Personal tab > Home Screen.

    Select a layout or your device Home Screen. I you select LG SmartHome Screen, you will have a 5-Way Home Screen. I you selectWindowsMobile Default, you can use Windows Mobile's Today screen.

    The Widget HomeScreen can show youravourite widgets. Iyou press and holdan icon you will get

    into the edit menuwhere all the availablewidgets, not alreadyon your screen, willbe shown in a bardown at the bottom

    o the screen. To scrollthrough these lickacross the widget bar.

    The Multimedia HomeScreen can show youravorite pictures andmovies on the rightside o the screen and

    your avorite musicon the let side o thescreen.

    In XT9 mode, you will see .The XT9 mode automaticallycompares your keystrokes with aninternal dictionary to determinethe correct word, thus requiring arewer keystrokes than the traditionalmultitap mode.This is sometimes known aspredictive text. This eature is

    supported only in portrait screen.NOTE: You cannot activate XT9 inSearch input box.

    ABC mode

    You can enter letters by tappingthe key labeled with the requiredletter once or twice until the correctletter is displayed. Tap once or theirst letters and twice or the second

    letters. This mode is known asmultitap mode.

    LGJavaKey

    LGJavaKey is the navigationkey used when you use a Javaapplication. You cannot enterletters using LGJavaKey.

    Using TranscriberTranscriber is a handwritingrecognition program thatallows you to write in cursive,

    print, or a combination o both.Transcriber works transparentlyin the background o programs,recognizing words with itsintegrated dictionary. When

    You can create a stand-alonerecording (voice note) or you canadd a recording to a note.

    Adjusting call volume

    To adjust the volume during a call,use the up and down button on theright side o the phone.

    Speed diallingYou can assign a requently-calledcontact to a speed dial number.

    From the Home Screen touchto open your LG Contacts.

    Touch Menu and select Speeddials.

    Your voicemail is already set tospeed dial 1. You cannot change

    this. Touch any other number toassign it to a speed dial contact.

    Your GM730 combines SMS, MMSinto one intuitive, easy to use menu.

    There are two ways to entermessaging:

    From the Home Screen,touch or touch , thenscroll to LG Message romCommunication tab.

    Sending a message

    Touch then Write NewMessage to begin composing anew message

    Your Messaging Folder structure isoutlined below.

    Inbox - All messages you receive arestored in your inbox. From here you

    can view and delete them, as well asother unctions.

    Outbox - This is a temporarystorage older while messages arebeing sent.

    Sent Items - Messages that havebeen sent are stored in this older.

    Drafts - I you dont inish writing amessage, you can save what youve

    done in this older.Threaded Box - You can view thealert message in real time when yousend or receive the message likeyou communicate on messenger.

    Setting up your email

    You can keep in touch on the moveby using your GM730 or email. Itsquick and simple to set up a POP3or IMAP4 email account.

    Touch rom the Home Screen,and scroll through LG E-mail onthe Communication tab.

    To Create a new message, tapMenu and select New.

    NOTE: You need the inormationrom your network provider asollow: Server address, Domainname, User name, Password. You

    Shooting a quick video

    your phones memory so you haveeasy access to all your pictures,sounds, videos and games. You canalso save your iles to a memorycard. The advantage o using a

    memory card is that you can ree upspace on your phones memory.

    You can create your own playlists bychoosing a selection o songs romthe All Tracks older.

    Searching for stations

    You can tune radio stations intoyour phone by searching or themeither manually or automatically.You can save stations to speciic

    channel numbers so you dont haveto keep re-tuning.

    Automatic tuning:

    Touch menu key then selectFM Radio rom Multimedia Tab.

    Touch Menu.

    Touch Scan.

    Select Stop to stop the auto scan.

    I you want to save the current

    channel, then touch Menu andselect Save preset. It can beound in preset list.

    Touch then Multimedia.

    Touch FM Radio

    Touch to bring the presetlist.

    Touch the channel o the stationyou would like to listen rom thepreset list.

    Touch Menu and select Options,This allows you to enable RDS.

    TIP!Enable RDS: Displaysthe received data message romradio station on the screen.

    TIP!To improve radioreception, extend the headsetcord, which unctions as theradio aerial.

    WARNING:I you connecta headset not specicallymade or the phone, the radioreception can be aected.
