Memory Specifications Each processor has three memory channels (1, 2 and 3) and each channel has two slots - A (PxDIMM1A, 2A,
3A in blue) and B (PxDIMM1B, 2B, 3B in black). So, the system has a total of twelve memory slots. The
memory slots support DDR3-1333 registered/unbuffered ECC memory modules, but it’s not allowed to mix
RDIMM and UDIMM in a system. For all memory modes, the slot A in each channel should be populated first. If
slot A is empty, slot B can’t be used.
NOTE:
� When you are using a single-processor server, you should install the memory module into P1DIMM1A to P1DIMM3B slots when CPU is
installed in CPU1 socket.
� The P2DIMM1A to P2DIMM3B slots are enabled when a second CPU is installed on the CPU2 socket.
For the system to function, DIMM modules must be installed following the slot sequence listed below. DIMM
module of the same type, size and manufacturer must be installed in the same colored DIMM slots.

Sparing mode � In this mode, if the system detects degrading memory and did not crash, the data in the failed channel will be
copied to the spare channel. The failed channel is then isolated and the spare channel becomes active.
However, any uncorrectable error that happens before the isolation will still cause the system to stop normal
operation.
� Channel 3 is the spare channel. Therefore, the effective size will be reduced by one-third.
� Follow the population rules described in the independent mode.
� Sparing mode requires that all three channels use identical DIMMs. 1A, 2A and 3A should be the same type,
size and manufacturer, likewise for 1B, 2B and 3B. The same rule applies to processor 2.

The GN1600 F1 chassis was designed to support twelve 3.5" SAS/SATA hot-swappable hard drives. As a system,
ach server board supports the use of three SATA drives. A single SATA backplane works to apply system-based
control for power and fan speed functions. RAID setup is limited to a three-drive scheme (RAID cannot be spread
across all twelve drives).
