WHAT IS DUAL CREDIT?
DUAL CREDIT
Dual Credit is the process by which a high school student enrolls in a college course and receives simultaneous credit for the course from the college and the high school.

GENERAL INFORMATION
Students who take dual credit courses are beginning their college career. This is a serious commitment and should only be entered into by those who are ready to be committed to college-level work.
Students and parents should discuss the level of commitment needed in regards to their high school course load and extra-curricular activities.

GENERAL INFORMATION
ProfessorYour dual credit professor may be a Lee College professor OR a high school teacher who has the credentials to teach a Lee College course.
ClassificationDual credit courses are open to all high school students who meet course eligibility criteria.
Level of DifficultyCourses are rigorous. They are college level courses.

STUDY TIPS AND INFORMATION
The average study time for
a college course is 2-3
hours per hour of class time.
Some classes will
require more study time.
It is better to
overestimate time
required.
GENERAL INFORMATION
Use the Texas Common Course Numbering System to determine what credit will be awarded at the college of choice for the credits earned at Lee College.
Prior to high school graduation, it is the student’s responsibility to request that the college transcript be sent from Lee College to the university of their choice.

In order to be eligible to receive high school credit for a dual credit course:
1. Student must first meet with high school counselor to discuss course options and eligibility process.
2. Student must receive written approval from the high school counselor and parent/guardian prior to taking the course.
3. Student must complete the registration process with Lee College.
PROCESS FOR DROPPINGDUAL CREDIT COURSE
3. Obtain parent
signature.
DROPPING A DUAL CREDIT COURSE
1. Meet with grade level counselor.
2. Complete Lee College Dual Credit Drop Form with grade level
counselor.
4. Return signed form to grade
level counselor.
CONSEQUENCES OF DROPPING A DUAL CREDIT COURSE
Withdrawals remain on the college transcript (this deadline is established by Lee College)
May impact financial aid eligibility in the future DUAL

TUITION & TEXTBOOKS
DUAL CREDIT COURSE TUITION
For dual credit courses, Lee College offers a discounted rate of $100 per course per semester plus the cost of books. It is typically $440.00 for general students.
2016-17 SCHOOL YEARGCCISD will fund the cost of the tuition/fees and textbooks for dual credit courses that are taken during regular school hours.
DUAL CREDIT TEXTBOOKS
2016-17 SCHOOL YEARTextbooks for dual credit courses that are taken during the school day will be funded by GCCISD.
COURSE GRADES
AUTHORIZATION TO RELEASE STUDENT INFORMATION TO PARENTS
FERPA-Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act
FERPA Form must be signed BY THE STUDENT if a parent wants access to student grades and other college information. Authorization is good for one year.

COURSE GRADES
• Six-weeks grades are not provided.• Pass/Fail (P/F) per three week progress period is
provided.• Semester/Final grades are provided in numerical format
to high schools but will be posted as letter grade on the college transcript.• MyLC Account will have information about grades and
payment.
DISABILITY SERVICES
Because Dual Credit courses are college level and taught by college approved instructors, students under Section 504 of Special Education must contact the Lee College Access Center in order to be considered for accommodations in courses.
