Lee County Pretrial Services Goals of Pretrial Services • To promote public safety by ensuring those that pose a risk are seen by the First Appearance Judge. • To provide accurate, timely, neutral information regarding arrestees to judges so they can make informed release decisions. • To aid in assuring the appearance of the defendant in court and reduce failure to appear rates. • To provide supervision of defendants ordered on supervision and to ensure compliance with release conditions established by judges. • To alleviate jail overcrowding, thereby reducing jail operating costs and future capacity needs of local jails, caused by unecessary detention of certain pretrial defendants. • To improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the local criminal justice system. • To manage cases according to their complexity and facilitate early disposition of appropriate cases. • To facilitate early identification of referrals, monitor compliance and track program success.
