the items on your paper from least to most powerful."

• Ask: "What would you do if you came to a river without a bridge? Or, what would you do if an army was chasing you?"

in our schoolbooks."• Distribute the supplies.• Guide the children to tie a knot about 1 inch from one end of the ribbon. • Explain: "Decide which word to place on your bookmark. You may include

Power, Trust, or Believe. Place the letters to spell your word in the correct order on the end of the ribbon without the knot. Slide the beads beside the knot. Tie another knot directly beside the beads to hold them in place."

God? Did the Israelites trust God? How did God demonstrate His power to the Israelites?"

• Review the Bible story, key Bible verse, and life application statement. • Invite the children to discuss how they see God's power in the world.• Say: "Let's use different forms of water to paint pictures to remind us of

God's power."• Form three groups. Assign each group to one of the painting stations.

t Station 1: Place paper, ice cube paints, and rubber gloves on the table. Encourage the children to wear the gloves as they paint. Use the ice cubes to paint on the paper. t Station 2: Place powdered tempera paint, spray bottles filled with water, gloves, and coffee filters on the table. Encourage the children to wear gloves as they paint. Guide the children to sprinkle a small amount of paint on the coffee filters. Spray water on the paint and observe how the water and paint interact. t Station 3: Place paper, watercolor paints, and brushes on the table. Guide the children to paint pictures of the Bible story.

tempera paint with water prior to the session. Fill the ice cube trays with the paints and freeze.

• Fill the spray bottles with water.

• Cover the work areas with newspaper.

Teacher Tip Keep ice cubes in cooler until needed in session.

Worship Through Exploration and Discovery

"Move the Water"• Guide the children to form two teams. • Call attention to the large bowl of water, cups, and turkey basters. • Say: "The object of this game is to move water from the bowl to your

team's cup using only the turkey basters."• Demonstrate how to use the turkey baster.• Guide each team to line up single file behind the starting lines.• Say: "When I say 'go,' the first person on each team will run to the table,

use the turkey baster to move as much water as he can in one try to the cup, and then run back and tag the next person. Continue until your team's cup is filled. The first team to fill its cup is the winner."

• Ask: "How was water an important part of our Bible story?"• Review the Bible story, key Bible verse, and life application statement.• Ask: "How did God show the Israelites His power? How does God show

His power to us? How can we recognize and trust God's power in our lives?"
