Sought Out and Blood Bought A Study Guide to Understanding God's Blood Covenant with Us

The following is the Introduction:

Have you ever tried to climb a step ladder which had the bottom step missing? That's what reading the Bible, hearing it preached, or trying to live the Christian life is like when you don't understand what a blood covenant is. The Blood Covenant is not some new doctrine. It is God's name for the contractural agreements He made with His people.

An understanding of the absoluteness of God's Blood Covenant and all that it provides will meet all the needs that now cause people to go to counselors and seminars regarding marriage, family relationships, teenagers, healing and health, insurance (life, health, property, creditor, etc.), investments and prosperity, confidence-building, and all the other areas of our lives that need to be made whole. In other words, Blood Covenant principles apply to every facet of our redemption—not just the "ticket to heaven" and "fire escape" parts.

This book has been written down for those who have never heard of a blood covenant . . . and for those who have and desire a deeper understanding of the promises. It is the result of years of study and of listening to the Holy Spirit of Truth. If someone has to unlock the door for you, then you're dependent on them; but if they give you the key, you can unlock the door whenever you need to. The Blood Covenant is the key.

Sought Out and Blood Bought is straight and narrow. It is not a book to be casually scanned, nor is it designed to be a speed-reading project for some rainy afternoon. It has been written line upon line and precept upon precept for the purpose of kicking out all tradition, contradiction, and limitation that we've heard about the Word of God, God's Blood Covenant with us. The truths in this book call for decisions and actions. It's a matter of life and death.

Sought Out and Blood Bought Isaiah 57:15; 59:21; 62:12

Thus saith the high and lofty One Who inhabits eternity . . . "My name is holy, and I dwell in the high and holy place with you who come to dwell with Me.

I have revived you in your spirit, and made this Covenant with you -

My Spirit is within you, My words are in your mouth; teach them to your children and to their children, too.

You are My very holy people - the redeemed of the LORD, sought out and blood bought . . .

My people - never forsaken."

Thus saith the high and lofty One Who inhabits eternity.

Jesus, Our Passover Lamb

When two people entered into an agreement in Bible times, a blood covenant was the guarantee of each party's integrity; and there were several steps involved in order for the covenant to become effective—each step showing the degree of their commitment: both counted the cost and both agreed to die to themselves in order to live for the other (a lamb was killed as

the substitute for each party, and the covenantors walked between the pieces symbolizing they have died to themselves and were now committed to living for the other);

sealed the cut (the covenantors also made a small cut in their own flesh, and the resulting scar forever reminded them of their blood covenant);

exchanged coats (represented occupation, religious standing, financial status); exchanged names (represented nature, reputation, spiritual qualities, authority, character); exchanged weapons/armor (represented strength and willingness to rescue the other, if attacked); exchanged firstborn sons (represented the ultimate commitment); pronounced blessings (the benefits that would be available to the other) pronounced curses (the consequences that would happen to the other if he did not keep his part of

the covenant); established headship (each recognized his responsibility to teach his heirs the conditions of the blood

covenant, which they would inherit when he died); established memorial (a reminder that kept their covenant commitment alive and ever before them);

and partook of covenant meal (taking into themselves that which represented the other's person and very

life, usually unleavened bread and fruit of the vine).

The above ceremony was witnessed by a third person, the covenant attorney, who agreed to keep a watchful eye on both parties and make sure they kept the promises they had made.

THE OLD COVENANT When God rescued His people from Egypt's bondage, He wanted to re-establish with them the blood

covenant He had made with Abraham and reconfirm His commitment to them as Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob's heirs. He instructed them to kill a lamb and apply its blood upon their homes; and when the destroyer was passing judgment on the Egyptians, it would pass over them. God also told them to eat the covenant meal in preparation for their being freed from captivity by payment of ransom (see Exo. 2:24 – 15:21).

As the multitude journeyed toward the promised land of inheritance, God had Moses set up the tabernacle and instruct the priests regarding the sacrifices. "Under this system, the gifts and sacrifices can't really get to the heart of the matter, can't assuage the conscience of the people, but are limited to matters of ritual and behavior. It's essentially a temporary arrangement until a complete overhaul could be made." (Heb. 9:9-10 THE MESSAGE)

THE NEW COVENANT My Son, I hear the captives' cry to be set free from sin's domain; So, will You go and give Your life and give them light to see again? Then I AM said "I will, I will do ev'rything You ask Me to .

Your heart's desire completely fill . . I want to show My love for You."

Abraham saw His day, "And Abraham said, 'My son, God will provide himself a lamb;"' John the Baptist saw His day, "The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, 'Behold the Lamb of

God, which taketh away the sin of the world;'" Paul saw His day, "Christ our passover is sacrificed for us;" and John the Beloved saw His day, "Worthy is the Lamb that was slain . . ." (Gen. 22:8; John 1:29; 1 Cor. 5:7; Rev. 4:12)

"But when the Messiah arrived, high priest of the superior things of this new covenant, he bypassed the old tent and its trappings in this created world and went straight into heaven's `tent’—the true Holy Place—once and for all. He also bypassed the sacrifices consisting of goat and calf blood, instead using his own blood as the price to set us free once and for all. If that animal blood and the other rituals of purification were effective in cleaning up certain matters of our religion and behavior, think how much more the blood of Christ cleans up our whole lives, inside and out. Through the Spirit, Christ offered himself as an unblemished sacrifice, freeing us from all those dead-end efforts to make ourselves respectable, so that we can live all out for God. Like a will that takes effect when someone dies, the new covenant was put into action at Jesus' death. His death marked the transition from the old plan to the new one, canceling the old obligations and accompanying sins, and summoning the heirs to receive the eternal inheritance that was promised them. He brought together God and his people in this new way." (Heb. 9:11-15 THE MESSAGE)

Jesus knew why He was coming, knew Who the tabernacle had been picturing, and knew He was the Lamb of God that would—

pay for the sin offense in full thereby ridding the people of the hounding guilt, and the obligation of their just and holy God to judge their sins would be canceled.

Jesus had never experienced separation from oneness with His Father, nor sin and the curse. He knew what it was going to take to sign the New Covenant in His own blood and to pay in full the debt we owed. That's why, in essence, He prayed,

"If there's any other way to set them free and get them back into fellowship with You, Father, let's do it; but if there's no other way—and I know there isn't, because there's only one way and that is for sinless blood to cut the New Blood Covenant with You on their behalf—then I'm willing to see this through to completion. I'm going to keep My eyes on the joy set before Me—You and Your Blood Covenant family—for the preciousness of the prize far exceeds the purchase price."

THE COVENANT MEAL On the eve of Jesus' crucifixion, He celebrated Passover with His disciples; and, in essence, He said to

them, "I have longed to eat this Passover with you—more so than the others we've eaten together, because this time I get to tell you, 'I am the Passover Lamb. I am the One for Whom you and your ancestors have been looking. I am the fulfillment—the completion—of this memorial. My blood and My body will deliver mankind out of captivity to sin and the curse today. My blood will be applied—not on the doorposts, but on the heavenly mercy seat to cut Covenant with God for you; and when you trust in this New Blood Covenant, the destroyer will pass over you."' (see Luke 22:15-20)"

He took the bread (vs. 19), gave thanks, broke it, and gave it to them, and

The Great Physician said, "This is My body which is given for you:

this do in remembrance of Me."

Then Jesus took the cup (vs. 20), and

The Lamb said, "This cup is the New Covenant in My blood,

which is shed for you."

When Jesus said, ". . . this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of Me." (1 Cor. 11:25), He was, in essence, saying,

"I do not want you to just remember that I died, as you sit there picturing Me hanging on the cross all bloody and limp. No way! I want you to remember that-

I had your sin on Me; I had your curses on Me, too; I had given My back to the smiters in your place, and I was acquiring My Dr. Jesus

degree for your benefit; I was purchasing your freedom from the bondage of sin and the torment of all the

curses—including all diseases; I was freeing you from captivity by stamping your ransom note—PA1D IN FULL; I was cutting Covenant with God for you;

and I not only want you to remember that, I want you to- believe that; appropriate that; take hold of all that your Blood Covenant provides, so that it has a noticeable and

profound effect on your entire being; be a trophy for Father and Me to hold up before everyone—living proof that

the Blood Covenant makes the difference . . . . between Egypt and Canaan, between bondage and freedom, between the world and the Word;

receive all of your inheritance; stand fast in your freedom!

When My joint-heirs live in the fullness of their inheritance, it makes all that I suffered for you all—worth it."

WHAT CHRISTMAS IS REALLY ALL ABOUT

Jesus had to have a BODY in order to redeem us... in order to take our CURSE and pay the debt demanded by SIN -- death.

To pay for SIN, He could have died any form of death. He could have been laid out on the top of a stone altar, like thousands of lambs before Him, or stabbed, or beheaded. SIN demanded death — BLOOD.

BUT to pay for the CURSE, He had to hang on a CROSS, for it is written, "Cursed is everyone that hangeth on a tree." [Ga1.3:13; Deut. 21:23] Jesus was not the first person to be crucified. Crucifixion was a common form of death at that time; and any other crucifixion He saw during His life, He knew that was the way He was going to die, too. Think about that!

And He knew He wouldn't just be paying for Himself (as other victims of the cross did), but He would be taking the CURSE for all mankind for all time... that meant ALL sickness and ALL disease, ALL forms of captivity and bondage, ALL forms of family problems, and EVERYthing else listed in the curses in Deut 28:15-68.

He knew He'd have all diseases, all plagues, all forms of infection, all cancer, all arthritis, all fever, all organ failure (kidney, liver, stomach, heart, glands, brain), and every other disease named in Deut. 28 and, it even says, “every disease not written in the book of this law." [v. 61] Just one of these is bad enough, but ALL of them... that could ever be placed on each and every person for all time... think of it! Really try to imagine that!

And in addition to what would literally be put on His body, He'd also have to suffer the inhumane beating with His flesh laid open, the cruel thorns gouging deeper and deeper no matter how He turned His head, the invading and merciless nails ripping through His hands and feet, the weight of His own body pulling those piercings open wider and wider, the humiliation of being naked, the blasphemies, jeers, and taunting of the people gaping at Him, the thirst and bitter vinegar, the blackness of the separation from God... and then, the spear. ALL of this... to pay IN FULL the debt required by the CURSE... for us!

He needed a BODY in order to take the CURSE for us... so that we do not ever have to have any of the CURSE on our body! It's paid for! Nothing else is owed!

That's what Christmas is all about — our Redeemer put on a BODY... just for us! That's what the angels were so ecstatic about! The plan of "freeing us from captivity by paying our ransom" was now in process! It would ALL be completely fulfilled, for God was its Author and Finisher! His blood would pay for SIN and ratify the New Covenant.

Little Baby, born today... born to take my sin away... little Baby, born to die... and His name is Jesus.

Born of woman, He was man... from the very heart of God... He became my Substitute... and His name is Jesus.

Now He lives and prays for me... Covenant He guarantees... Soon He's coming back for me... and His name is Jesus.

Love Did It Just for Me

At creation, Jesus was with God to create all we see;

But to come to earth to ransom man, a servant He must be.

So, He left His place of glory, set His face for Calvary,

And was made in likeness of a man. Love made Him come for me.

In the garden, there was agony - He was God's precious Son;

And He knew that He must be made sin... He knew what must be done.

Yet, He saw it was the only way redemption could be won.

It was Love's consent for me to die - Love said, "Thy will be done."

When I read about His power that had calmed the angry sea...

How He healed the sick, and raised the dead, and set the captive free...

Then I saw — He had the power to come down from that tree!

And I knew that it was love — not nails - that held Him there for me!

Father, I've believed that Jesus died and 'rose again for me.

I've confessed Him as my only Lord and giv'n my all to Thee.

If You loved me so much then You'd give Your only Son to die,

How much more I know You love me now that Your own child am I!

And as Your child, I have relationship within Your family.

If I slip, I regain fellowship by saying, "Forgive me."

Jesus Christ poured out His blood to give me new identity!

Heav'nly Father, I'm so very glad Love did it just for me!

WHAT DID THE BODY OF JESUS ACTUALLY ENDURE?

About a 10 years ago, reading Jim Bishop's The Day Christ Died, I realized that I had for years taken the Crucifixion more or less for granted—that I had grown callous to its horror by a too easy familiarity with the grim details and a too distant friendship with our Lord. It finally occurred to me that, though a physician, I didn't even know the actual immediate cause of death. The Gospel writers don't help us much on this point, because crucifixion and scourging were so common during their lifetime that they apparently considered a detailed description unnecessary. So we have only the concise words of the Evangelists: "Pilate, having scourged Jesus, delivered Him to them to be crucified...and they crucified Him."

I have no competence to discuss the infinite psychological and spiritual suffering of the Incarnate God atoning for the sins of fallen man. But it seemed to me that as a physician I might pursue the physiological and anatomical aspects of our Lord's passion in some detail. What did the body of Jesus of Nazareth actually endure during those hours of torture?

This led me first to a study of the practice of crucifixion itself, that is, torture and execution by fixation to a cross. I am indebted to many who have studied this subject in the past, and especially to a contemporary colleague, Dr. Pierre Barbet, a French surgeon who has done exhaustive historical and experimental research and has written extensively on the subject.

Apparently, the first known practice of crucifixion was by the Persians. Alexander and his generals brought it back to the Mediterranean world—to Egypt and to Carthage. The Romans apparently learned the practice from the Carthaginians and, as with almost everything the Romans did, rapidly developed a very high degree of efficiency and skill at it. A number of Roman authors (Livy, Cicer, Tacitus) comment on crucifixion, and several innovations, modifications, and variations are described in the ancient literature.

For instance, the upright portion of the cross (or stipes) could have the cross-arm (or patibulum) attached two or three feet below its top in what we commonly think of as the Latin cross. The most common form used in our Lord's day, however, was the Tau cross, shaped like our T. In this cross the patibulum was placed in a notch at the top of the stipes. There is archeological evidence that it was on this type of cross that Jesus was crucified.

Without any historical or biblical proof, Medieval and Renaissance painters have given us our picture of Christ carrying the entire cross. But the upright post, or stipes, was generally fixed permanently in the ground at the site of execution and the condemned man was forced to carry the patibulum, weighing about 110 pounds, from the prison to the place of execution.

Many of the painters and most of the sculptors of crucifixion, also show the nails through the palms. Historical Roman accounts and experimental work have established that the nails were driven between the small bones of the wrists (radial and ulna) and not through the palms. Nails driven through the palms will strip out between the fingers when made to support the weight of the human body. The misconception may have come about through a misunderstanding of Jesus' words to Thomas, "Observe My hands." Anatomists, both modern and ancient, have always considered the wrist as part of the hand.

A titulus (or small sign stating the victim's crime) was usually placed on a staff, carried at the front of the procession from the prison, and later nailed to the cross so that it extended above the head. This sign with its staff nailed to the top of the cross would have given it somewhat the characteristic form of the Latin cross.

But, of course, the physical passion of the Christ began in Gethsemane. Of the many aspects of this initial suffering, the one of greatest physiological interest is the bloody sweat. It is interesting that St. Luke, the physician, is the only one to mention this. He says, "And being in agony, He prayed the longer. And His sweat became as drops of blood, trickling down upon the ground." Every trick imaginable has been used by modern scholars to explain away this description, apparently under the mistaken impression that this just doesn't happen. A great deal of effort could have been saved had the doubters consulted the medical literature. Though very rare, the phenomenon of hematidrosis, or bloody sweat, is well documented. Under great emotional stress of the kind our Lord suffered, tiny capillaries in the sweat glands can break, thus mixing blood with sweat. This process might well have produced marked weakness and possible shock.

After the arrest in the middle of the night, Jesus was next brought before the Sanhedrin and Caiaphas, the High Priest; and it is here that the first physical trauma was inflicted. A soldier struck Jesus across the face for remaining silent when questioned by Caiaphas. The palace guards then blind-folded Him and mockingly taunted Him to identify them as they each passed by, spat upon Him, and struck Him in the face.

In the early morning, battered and bruised, dehydrated, and exhausted from a sleepless night, Jesus is taken across the Praetorium of the Fortress Antonia, the seat of government of the Procurator of Judea, Pontius Pilate. You are, of course, familiar with Pilate's action in attempting to pass responsibility to Herod Antipas, the Tetrarch of Judea. Jesus apparently suffered no physical mistreatment at the hands of Herod and was returned to Pilate. It was there, in response to the cries of the mob, that Pilate ordered Bar-Abbas released and condemned Jesus to scourging and crucifixion.

There is much disagreement among authorities about the unusual scourging as a prelude to crucifixion. Most Roman writers from this period do not associate the two. Many scholars believe that Pilate originally ordered Jesus scourged as his full punishment and that the death sentence by crucifixion came only in response to the taunt by the mob that the Procurator was not properly defending Caesar against this pretender who allegedly claimed to be the King of the Jews.

Preparations for the scourging were carried out when the prisoner was stripped of His clothing and His hands tied to a post above His head. It is doubtful the Romans have made any attempt to follow the Jewish law in this matter, but the Jews had an ancient law prohibiting more than forty lashes.

The Roman legionnaire steps forward with the flagrum (or flagellum) in his hand. This is a short whip consisting of several heavy, leather thongs with two small balls of lead attached near the ends of each. The heavy whip is brought down with full force again and again across Jesus' shoulders, back, and legs. At first the thongs cut through the skin only. Then, as the blows continue, they cut deeper into the subcutaneous (under the skin) tissues, producing first an oozing of blood from the capillaries and veins of the skin, and finally spurting arterial bleeding from vessels in the underlying muscles.

The small balls of lead first produce large, deep bruises which are broken open by subsequent blows. Finally the skin of the back is hanging in long ribbons, and the entire area is an unrecognizable mass of torn, bleeding tissue. When it is determined by the centurion in charge that the prisoner is near death, the beating is finally stopped.

The half-fainting Jesus is then untied and allowed to slump to the stone pavement, wet with His own blood. The Roman soldiers see a great joke in this provincial Jew claiming to be king. They throw a robe across His shoulders and place a stick in His hand for a scepter. They still need a crown to make their travesty complete. Flexible branches covered with long thorns (commonly used in bundles for firewood) are plaited into the shape of a crown, and this is pressed into His scalp. Again there is copious bleeding—the scalp being one of the most vascular areas of the body.

After mocking Him and striking Him across the face, the soldiers take the stick from His hand and strike Him across the head, driving the thorns deeper into His scalp. Finally, they tire of their sadistic sport and the robe is torn from His back. Already having adhered to the clots of blood and serum in the wounds, its removal causes excruciating pain; and almost as though He were again being whipped, the wounds once more begin to bleed.

In deference to Jewish custom, the Romans return His garments. The heavy patibulum of the cross is tied across His shoulders, and the procession of the condemned Christ, two thieves, and the execution detail of Roman soldiers headed by a centurion begins its slow journey along the Via Dolorosa. In spite of His efforts to walk erect, the weight of the heavy wooden beam, together with the shock produced by copious blood loss, is too much. He stumbles and falls. The rough wood of the beam gouges into the lacerated skin and muscles of the shoulders. He tries to rise, but human muscles have been pushed beyond their endurance.

The centurion, anxious to get on with the crucifixion, selects a stalwart North African onlooker, Simon of Cyrene, to carry the cross. Jesus follows, still bleeding and sweating the cold, clammy sweat of shock, until the 650-yard journey from the fortress Antonia to Golgotha is finally completed.

Jesus is offered wine mixed with myrrh, a mild analgesic mixture. He refuses to drink. Simon is ordered to place the patibulum on the ground, and Jesus is quickly thrown backward with His shoulders against the wood. The legionnaire feels for the depression at the front of the wrist. He drives a heavy, square, wrought-iron nail through the wrist and deep into the wood. Quickly, he moves to the other side and repeats the action being

careful not to pull the arms to tightly, but to allow some flexion and movement. The patibulum is then lifted in place at the top of the stipes, and the titulus reading "Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews" is nailed in place.

The left foot is now pressed backward against the right foot, and with both feet extended, toes down, a nail is driven through the arch of each, leaving the knees moderately flexed. The victim is now crucified. As He slowly sags down with more weight on the nails in the wrists, excruciating pain shoots along the fingers and up the arms to explode in the brain—the nails in the wrists are putting pressure on the median nerves. As He pushes Himself upward to avoid this stretching torment, He places His full weight on the nail through His feet. Again there is the searing agony of the nail tearing through the nerves between the metatarsal bones of the feet.

At this point, as the arms fatigue, great waves of cramps sweep over the muscles, knotting them in deep, relentless, throbbing pain. With these cramps comes the inability to push Himself upward. Hanging by His arms, the pectoral (chest) muscles are paralyzed, and the intercostal (situated between the ribs) muscles are unable to act. Air can be drawn into the lungs, but cannot be exhaled. Jesus fights to raise Himself in order to get even one short breath. Finally, carbon dioxide builds up in the lungs and in the blood stream, and the cramps partially subside. Spasmodically, He is able to push Himself upward to exhale and bring in the life-giving oxygen. It was undoubtedly during these periods that He uttered the seven short sentences recorded:

(1) The first, looking down at the Roman soldiers throwing dice for His seamless garment, "Father, forgive them for they know not what they do."

(2) The second, to the penitent thief, "Today thou shalt be with Me in Paradise." (3) The third, looking down at the terrified, grief-stricken adolescent John, the beloved

apostle, He said, "Behold thy mother." Then, looking to His mother, Mary, "Woman, behold thy son." (4) The fourth cry is from the beginning of the 22nd Psalm, "My God, My God, why hast

Thou forsaken Me?" There are hours of limitless pain, cycles of twisting, joint-rending cramps, intermittent partial

asphyxiation (lack of oxygen), searing pain where tissue is torn from His lacerated back as He moves up and down against the rough timber. Then another agony begins...a terrible crushing pain deep in the chest as the pericardium (membrane that encloses the heart) slowly fills with serum and begins to compress the heart. One remembers again the 22nd Psalm, the 14th verse: "I am poured out like water, and all My bones are out of joint; My heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of My bowels."

It is now almost over. The loss of tissue fluids has reached a critical level. The compressed heart is struggling to pump heavy, thick, sluggish blood into the tissue; the tortured lungs are making a frantic effort to gasp in small gulps of air. The markedly dehydrated tissues send their flood of stimuli to the brain.

(5) Jesus gasps His fifth cry, "I thirst." One remembers another verse from the prophetic 22nd Psalm: "My strength is dried up like a potsherd; and My tongue cleaveth to My jaws; and Thou has brought Me into the dust of death." A sponge soaked in posca, the cheap, sour wine which is the staple drink of the Roman legionnaires, is lifted to His lips. He apparently doesn't take any of the liquid.

(6) The body of Jesus is now in extremes, and He can feel the chill of death creeping through His tissues. This realization brings out His sixth words, possibly little more than a tortured whisper, "It is finished."

(7) His mission of atonement has been completed. Finally, He can allow His body to die. With one last surge of strength, He once again presses His torn feet against the nail, straightens His legs, take a deeper breath, and utters His seventh and last cry, "Father! Into Thy hands I commit My spirit."

The rest you know. In order that the Sabbath not be profaned, the Jews asked that the condemned men be dispatched and removed from the crosses. The common method of ending a crucifixion was by crurifracture, the breaking of the bones of the legs. This prevented the victim from pushing himself upward; thus the tension could not be relieved from the muscles of the chest and rapid suffocation occurred. The legs of the two thieves were broken; but when the soldiers came to Jesus, they saw that this was unnecessary.

Apparently to make doubly sure of death, the legionnaire drove his lance through the fifth interspace between the ribs, upward through the pericardium and into the heart. The 34th verse of the 19th chapter of the Gospel according to St. John reports: "And immediately there came out blood and water." That is, there was an escape of water fluid from the sac surrounding the heart, giving postmortem evidence that our Lord died not the usual crucifixion death by suffocation, but of heart failure (a broken heart) due to shock and constriction of

the heart by fluid in the pericardium.

Thus, we have had our glimpse—including the medical evidence—of that epitome of evil which man has exhibited toward Son of Man and toward God. It has been a terrible sight, and more than enough to leave us despondent and depressed. How grateful we can be that we have the great sequel in the infinite mercy of God toward man—at once the miracle of the atonement (at-one-ment) and the expectation of the triumphant Resurrection morning!

Jesus bore my sin and its curse (Deut. 28:15-68) IN HIS BODY and offered Himself as the demanded-payment-by-death sacrifice on the attar of the cross... that I might cease to exist (die) to sin and its curse — and, therefore — live to righteousness. Sin and its curse cease to have power over me, because sin and its curse have no more power over a dead person. Now, right-standing has power over me!

Jesus released me from sin and its curse by dying the death-punishment for sin and its curse that I owed.

Sickness is forever powerless over my body! Healing is my right, my inheritance, MINE! Now, name every other facet of the curse and put its name in the place of the word sickness; then insert its blessing in the place of the word healing.

Bottom line: Jesus' stripes cured me, healed me, and made me whole! He freed me from ALL the captivity of the curse by paying the ransom price (death) for me! The bill's been paid! "PAID IN FULL" is written in the red blood of Jesus across my account! The curse is forever powerless over me — spirit, soul, and body!!!

ALL the blessings of the New Covenant are mine — salvation, God's presence, God's voice, His fellowship, right-standing, forgiveness, power, peace, victory, health, prosperity, wisdom... EVERY PROMISE IN THE BOOK IS MINE!

These New Covenant blessings are already on deposit in my account, but these blessings don't come to me by "automatic withdrawal." I have to withdraw them. How? — by laying claim to my inheritance! Taking hold of it!

Choosing the blessing... and ...refusing the curse!

My response and my responsibility -

is to believe it and receive it into my life.

That's FAITH!

Psalm 91

Because I dwell in the secret place of The Most High, I shall abide under the shadow of The Almighty.

I will say of The Lord, "He is my Refuge and my Fortress! My God! In Him will I trust!"

Surely He shall deliver me from the snare of the fowler and from the noisome pestilence.

He shall cover me with His feathers and under His wings shall I trust. His Truth shall be my Shield and Buckler.

I shall not be afraid for the terror by night, nor for the arrow that flieth by day,

Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness, nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.

A thousand shall fall at my side and ten thousand at my right hand...but it shall not come nigh me! Only with my eyes shall I behold and see the reward of the wicked. Because I have made The Lord, which is my Refuge, even The Most High, my Habitation, There shall no evil befall me, neither shall any plague come nigh my dwelling! For He shall give His angels charge over me, to keep me in all my ways. They shall bear me up in their hands, lest I dash my foot against a stone. I shall tread upon the lion and adder; the young lion and the dragon shall I trample under feet.

And The Lord responds.... "Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore will I deliver him! I will set

him on high, because he has known My Name! "He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him! I will be with him in

trouble! I will deliver him, and honour him! "With long life will I satisfy him, and show him My salvation!"

In the Hebrew, Egypt means limit, and it comes from a word meaning hemming,

which comes from the root word meaning cramp, i.e., confine;

which is translated in the King James as: adversary,

assault, beset,

besiege, bind up,

distress, inclose,

lay siege, put up in bags

Bottom Line: EGYPT = LIMITATION

When God wanted to tell His people He was faithful to keep His part of the Covenant, He would remind them, ". . for with a strong hand bath the Lord brought thee out of Egypt." (Exo. 13:9)

As we read those words over and over in the Bible, we should not think of the country in northeastern Africa, nor of Pharoah and the 400 years of slavery, because those are not relevant to us today. When we read Egypt, we should think limitation.

Jesus' mighty redemption has brought us out of all limitation! And God's desire is that we never go back there--to limitation (Deut. 17:16; Gal. 5:1).

When I see the blood, I will pass over you,

and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you...

...I will not suffer the destroyer to come in unto your houses

to smite you...

...that you may know how that the Lord doth put a difference

between the Egyptians and Israel (His people).

Exodus 12:13, 23; 11:7

No matter what happened in Egypt . .

there were no plagues in GOSHEN !

(Read Exodus 8:22-23; 9:4-7, 26; and 10:23)

We believers belong to our Covenant-making,

Covenant-keeping God !

(Read Exodus 11:7; 12:13, 23)

No More Generation Curses I was asked to leave the worship service and go into the foyer of the church to pray for someone

who was sick. I heard the Lord say, "Mark 16." The lady requesting prayer (saying she didn't want to wait until after the preaching to go up front to ask for

prayer) knew she was about to get a migraine headache. I said to her, "What is going to happen after I pray for you?" She replied, "I'll be healed." We sat down on an upholstered bench.

I opened my Bible to Mark 16:15-18 and read, "Go preach... and these signs shall follow them that believe...they shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover." Recover sounds like a slow process to our ears, but in the original Greek*, it literally says, "shall have themselves well." That's "right now!" Whatever you are concerned or worried about, give it over to God, because that's what's given the migraine symptoms the right to attack you.

It was then she told me she had taken part in a Curse-to-Blessing seminar that was held at her church that weekend. At that seminar, the leaders had every person go back into their past and remember who hurt them, abused them, scarred them, etc., and "deal" with it... so that the curses on them because of that person and/or situation could be broken. I didn't tell her how wrong that whole teaching was, I just began to teach her the truth. Light always dispels the darkness!

I continued... Is Jesus Christ the Lord and Master of your life? She said He was. What was the cross He died on made of? She said wood. Where does wood come from? A tree. Then that means you have a NEW FAMILY TREE. There are no inherited diseases or generational curses from that tree -- all you've inherited is healing, health, wholeness, and blessings!

2 Corinthians 5:17 -- "Therefore if any man be IN Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." I said to her, "If I told you my mother had passed away, what would that mean to you?" She said, "That she is dead. Buried. Gone." Exactly! And this scripture says the "old things" in your life are passed away, dead, buried, gone. Leave them there. The Bible never tells us to go dig up the past and figure out who did what and why. (I heard her give a sigh of relief!) The windshield on a car is very big, and the rear view mirror is very small. There's a lesson to learn there. The only time the Bible says we are to look back is to be encouraged by how God brought us through and out. The rest of the time we are to keep our eyes on Jesus and His Word, His faithfulness, and His plan for our present and our future. I also told here there's no asterisk on the word all in this scripture, with a footnote at the bottom of the page that says, "except for Jane." (not her real name)

I said to her, "You don't need to be prayed for you need to be taught!" God sent His Word and healed them and delivered them from their destructions. (Psa. 107:20)

I said, "If a witch came in that door and tried to put a curse on you, what would you do? She said, "I would rebuke it and command it to leave." I said, "That's what you need to do at the slightest symptom of any curse, any sickness, any pain -- any part of the curse! It's a symptom from satan, and he's waiting to see if you'll accept it."

She said, "That's what I was doing on the way to church, but I still had the pain." I told her about Wigglesworth waiting for the streetcar in London. A lady was also waiting for the streetcar, and her little dog was playing at her feet. She lived in the flat right behind them, and she kept saying to the pup, "Now, go back in the house. You can't go with me." The dog kept on playing around her feet. After a while, she saw the streetcar coming, and she knew she had to get her dog back in the apartment, or he'd be stranded on the street after she left on the streetcar. She authoritatively stomped her foot, and said, "SCAT!" The dog tucked his tail and scampered up the steps. Wigglesworth said, "That's what you've got to do to the devil!" I told her, "The devil knows when you really mean business and when you don't! So does God!"

I told her God is only committed to performing what HIS Word says -- not what someone else says His Word says. We have to stick to the Word.

I laid my hand on her and said, "Jesus Christ makes you whole. So be it." She was healed. Actually, the healing began when she saw -- "old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."

The Word always works -- from migraine to ptomaine! If you believe, you receive. If you didn't receive, you didn't believe. Don't blame God. Dig into the Word. He'll do His Word. He said so. Amen.

Box of Curses . . .

It's as if there's a box of CURSES that has YOUR name on it,

and it's scheduled to be empty before it finishes you off!

There's one box for everyone in the world.

BUT JESUS stepped between that box of CURSES... and you... and said,

"I'll take her CURSES... and his... and theirs... I'll  take  mankind’s  CURSES !

Put those CURSES on Me! I'll pay it off -- PAY IT IN FULL!"

That's REDEMPTION ! Jesus freed us from captivity to the CURSE…

by paying our ransom. Redemption is a FINISHED work ! We are to stand fast in that liberty

wherewith Christ has set us free ! We owe the CURSE nothing, because it's already been paid for !

The CURSE always knows your address because you're still in the world; and it may still knock at your door...but do not sign for the package!

Instead, believe and speak the Blood Covenant truth that supersedes that CURSE,

and it will flee from you as you slam the door shut! Let the redeemed of the Lord -- SAY SO! Let the redeemed of the Lord – STAY SO!

There was a debt . . .

There was a debt — a very large debt . . .

There was a Debtor . . .

And there was the One-owed . . .

The One-owed chose to forgive the debt all of it, no strings attached, never to be mentioned again. She knew how blessed and how set free the Debtor would be and could hardly wait to tell him the good news!

When the Forgiver [formerly, the One-owed] told the Debtor the good news, he said, "What? All of it? No strings attached? Never to be mentioned again? That sounds too good to be true! I don't know what to say."

The Forgiver said, "Just say, 'I receive' and 'thank you.' " The Forgiven [formerly, the Debtor] did.

As the reality of being set free from that huge burden began to sink in, the Forgiven kept hearing those words over and over, "I forgive your debt — all of it, no strings attached, never to be mentioned again." He couldn't stop smiling!

Even though the Forgiver had forgiven people before for other debts, words, and actions, she was surprised at the effect this forgiveness was having on her. She was so aware that it was God Who had instructed her to do it, had empowered her to trust Him to supply her own need (that she was counting on the repayment to meet), and was strengthening her to totally depend on Him.

Then the words "for the joy set before Him" (Heb. 12:2) came to the Forgiver's attention. She realized that she was experiencing just a tiny little glimpse of the joy Jesus had as He paid the sin-debt we owed, and how He can hardly wait to tell us the Good News that He has forgiven us in full all of it, no strings attached, never to be mentioned again . . . just for the believing, receiving, and saying, "Thank You."

Someone has so beautifully penned, He paid a debt He did not owe, I owed a debt I could not pay,

I needed Someone to wash my sin away, And now I sing a brand new song -

"Amazing Grace" . . . Christ Jesus paid the debt that I could never pay.

I believe . . . I receive . . . thank You,

Forgiven

RECALL NOTICE The Maker of all human beings (GOD) is recalling all units manufactured, regardless of make or year, due to a serious defect in the primary and central component of the heart. This is due to a malfunction in the original prototype units, code-named Adam and Eve, resulting in the reproduction of the same defect in all subsequent units. This defect has been technically termed "Subsequential Internal Non-morality," or more commonly known as S.I.N., as it is primarily expressed.

Some of the symptoms include: 1. Loss of direction 2. Foul vocal emissions 3. Amnesia of origin 4. Lack of peace and joy 5. Selfish or violent behavior 6. Depression or confusion in the mental component 7. Fearfulness 8. Idolatry 9. Rebellion

To correct this defect, the Manufacturer, who is neither liable nor at fault for this defect, is providing factory-authorized repair and service—free of charge. The Repair Technician (JESUS) has most generously offered to bear the entire burden of the staggering cost of these repairs. There is no additional fee required.

The number to call for repair in all areas is: P-R-A-Y-E-R. Once connected, please upload your burden of SIN through the REPENTANCE procedure. Next, download REMISSION (FORGIVENESS) from the Repair Technician into the heart component,

No matter how big or small the SIN defect is, JESUS will replace it with: 1. Love 2. Joy 3. Peace 4. Patience 5. Kindness 6. Goodness 7. Faithfulness 8. Gentleness 9. Self-control

Please see the Operating Manual, the B.I.B.L.E. (Believers' Instructions Before Leaving Earth), for further details on the use of these fixes.

WARNING: Continuing to operate the human being unit without correction voids any Manufacturer warranties, exposing the unit to dangers and problems too numerous to list and will result in the human unit being permanently impounded. For free emergency service, call on JESUS.

DANGER: The human being units not responding to this recall action will have to be scrapped in the furnace. The SIN defect will not be permitted to enter Heaven, so as to prevent contamination of that facility. Thank you for your attention.

GOD

PS: Please assist where possible by notifying others of this important RECALL NOTICE, and you may contact the Father at any time by knee-mail — BECAUSE HE LIVES!

The Great Exchange

Led into the wilderness... now I don't have to be. Depressed in dark Gethsemane... now I don't have to be. For three days, He was down in hell... now I don't have to be.

It's the great exchange, and He did it just for me!

He took all my sinfulness that I might righteous be. He took away the doubt and fear... now I have victory. He took away the curse of death... gives life eternally. It's the great exchange, and He did it just for me!

He took all the sickfulness that I might healthy be. He took all the poverty that I might wealthy be. He took the curse of the broken law, paid the ransom price for me.

It's the great exchange, and He did it just for me!

Make Him your Saviour and your Lord — He'll make you "all brand new!" Receive it now! It's in the Word. By faith, believe it's true. He wants to be your Saviour, Baptizer, Healer, too.

It's the great exchange, and He did it just for you!

Accept the great exchange — Jesus did it just for you!

The full meaning of SALVATION or SAVED from the Greek is . . . delivered,

healed, pardoned, preserved, restored,

safe, sound, whole.

Therefore, whichever one you need right now, you can insert it in Ephesians 2:8-9 . . .

"For by grace* are you HEALED through faith**;

and that not of yourselves . . . it is the gift*** of God,

not of works**** . . . lest any man should boast."

*God's ability and power ***free-for-the receiving, free-for the believing— therefore, unlimited

Cheese and Crackers

In the early part of the century, there was a man who lived in Europe; and he had a very hard life... very hard. He thought, "If I could just get to America, things would be better. I know they would."

He began to save his money; and after a very long time, he finally had enough money to buy the boat ticket. He had a little bit left over, so he bought cheese and crackers to eat on the crossing. The day arrived, and he went on board — full of expectancy for a better life.

Each day at mealtime, he would go and look through the small glass windows in the doors that led into the dining room, and he'd look at all the other passengers eating the wonderful food. Then he'd go back to his cabin and eat his cheese and crackers.

When they docked in New York, the ship's steward came to him and asked, "Sir, did we do something to offend you? I noticed you never came into the dining room to eat with the other passengers. Was there something wrong with the food?"

The man replied, "Oh, no. I'm sure the food was good. I didn't have the money to pay for the food, so I ate cheese and crackers in my cabin."

The steward exclaimed, "The food was included in the cost of your ticket!"

No one had ever told the man what all was included in the cost of his ticket!

That's true in the Church today, too.

"My people are destroyed

for lack of knowledge."

Hosea 4:6

WHEN SOMEONE IS NEWLY BORN AGAIN, TEACH THEM . . .

When Jesus saw the multitudes floundering, He didn't PRAY for them—He TAUGHT them. He parting marching orders to us said, "TEACH all nations...TEACH them to do what I've told you to do."

When people make Jesus their Lord at the average Church today and come to the front to boldly proclaim that change of lordship, they are newly born-again babes!

Has anyone considered how many we never see again; or if we do, it's only for a few weeks, then they're gone.

Why? Where?

All of these "new-reborns" have a history. They need a "parent" to take them under their wing and see to it that they are nurtured and taught. That parent needs to be committed to that "child" 24/7/366—never too busy to meet their need...courageous enough to give straight-talk and tell them "no," transportation to/from church, 1-to-1 teaching, hook them up with strong friends—do ALL that it takes to support them as they take baby-steps, then crawl, then walk, and eventually stand tall and strong. The average Church today is responsible to be and do all this.

1. On their re-birthday, there needs to be on-the-spot ministry to teach them that They have a new LORD and MASTER now. Be sure that is the commitment they

have made from their heart, because just believing Jesus died on the cross to save them from their sins is NOT being born again. Only if there has been a change in lordship has there been a change in ownership; and if they have not died (to themselves and their efforts), then He is not Lord. Be sure they understand what they have committed to: lordship, obedience, intimacy, forever.

Their spirit has been made brand new, and it is now a temple which is meant to be filled with the presence of God's Holy Spirit.

They need to receive the Baptism with the evidence...and be taught what that means and all the benefits (draw out God's wisdom, understand mysteries, be built in their own faith, letting Him speak for them when they don't know how to express their need, hurt, joy, love, prayer)...

and be taught that He is in them to be their Comforter, Guide, Teacher...the Paraclete Who will take-hold-together-with  (them)…against every weapon formed against them, every temptation that had been so successful for so long, every voice that torments them, etc.

They need to learn how to hear the Holy Spirit's voice...including, the peace-or-no peace inside.

They need to understand that their mind will need to be renewed as they read and feed on the Word of God—God's WILL for them...choosing what the Word says over everyone and everything else; acknowledging it first, assenting to what it says, covenanting with it... and making it final authority in their life...

and then their body will follow suit.

IMPORTANT: Their "parent" needs to be assigned to them right there in the "delivery room" (man for man, woman for woman, couple for couple). There should be "parents-in-waiting" already committed, trained, and ready to step up to the plate... and they know, "Yes, Lord, I hear You... this one is mine."

This may take an half hour or more, but they should not leave the building without knowing these truths that will shield them; and they should be given literature and scriptures., too, as an arsenal to refer to when the darts start flying in the hours and days ahead.

This on-the-spot ministry should not be in the sanctuary with people all around to distract them and with music so loud that you can't hear yourself talking.

2. Teaching On Sunday morning before the 10:00 service, there should be 4-week classes (one hour)

for the "elementary" truths that they need to learn: a. Blood Covenant—just a skip-the-rock teaching so that they will have a firm

foundation and know why God and Jesus can be trusted, the Bible is the Blood Covenant, they are an heir of God and joint-heir with Jesus, and they can jump off the diving board in the deep end! They have a history of unbelief, fear, being offended by so-called Christians and things they've heard about God, and a lifetime of people that have failed them miserably. They need to know of a surety that God and Jesus and the Holy Spirit can be depended on—They canNOT lie, canNOT fail, canNOT break Their WORD!

b. who they are in Christ [Hagin's "IN HIM" booklet is a good starting place] c. spirit, soul, and body [Andrew Wommack's teaching] d. how to meditate in the Word, where the "white page" is (dividing the Old and New

Covenants), and that the Word is their supply line e. the enemy's battle tactics f. that prayer is to be an ongoing conversation with God g. what to do when they "miss the mark"—repent, receive forgiveness, walk in right-

standing h. etc.

These classes should be ongoing, so that as people "join the family," they are immediately plugged into teaching. If they've finished the first class ("Blood Covenant") and somehow just didn't "get it," they can just stay in the class for another 4 weeks (or however long) until the truth has really been anchored in them. The same for all the classes.

There should be a schedule/chart/attendance record so that each new-reborn is held accountable to attend every class in each topic before they can go to the next topic.

There should also be more in-depth classes available throughout the week in the church facility and in homes.

These are just suggestions.

Psalm 107:20 says,

"He sent His word [not prayer, not fellowship, not circumstances], and healed (raphah—cure, cause to heal, physician, repair, make whole) them,

and delivered (to be smooth, to escape, to release or rescue, to bring forth [young], emit [sparks]) them from their destructions (pitfalls)."

In John 8:31-32, Jesus said,

"If you continue in my word [not prayer, not fellowship], then are you my disciples indeed;

and you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."

And now, brethren,

I commend you to God,

and

to THE WORD of His grace,

which IS ABLE to build you up,

and TO GIVE YOU

AN INHERITANCE

among all them which are sanctified.

Acts 20:32

Words of Exhortation, Edification, and Comfort

You are My portion and My inheritance. I found you in a desert land, in the howling void of the wilderness. I kept circling around you, penetratingly scanned you, kept you as the pupil of My eye. As an eagle that stirs up her nest and flutters over her young, I spread abroad My wings; I took you; I bore you on My pinions. I alone led you; there was no foreign god with you.

I have sworn by My right hand and by My mighty arm: Surely I will not again give your grain to be food for your enemies, and the invading sons of aliens shall not drink your new wine for which you have toiled. But you who have gathered it shall eat it, and praise Me; and you who have brought in the vintage shall drink it at the feasts celebrated in the courts of My sanctuary.

You have been sought out and redeemed. You are My holy people, never forsaken. Instead of the thorn shall come up the cypress tree, and instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle tree; and you shall be to Me for a name of renown, for an everlasting sign of jubilant exaltation and a memorial to My praise that shall not be cut off. Behold, you and the children I give you are for signs and for wonders that are to take place among the people from Me, the Lord of Hosts, Who dwells in Mount Zion.

I have made you to ride on the high places of the earth. I have made you to eat the increase of the field. I have made you to suck honey out of the rock and oil out of the flinty rock, butter and curds of the herd, and milk of the flock, with fat of lambs, with the finest of the wheat. I have made you to drink the pure blood of the grapes.

Before I formed you in the womb, I knew and approved of you as My chosen instruments; and before you were born, I separated and set you apart, consecrating you, and I appointed you as ministers to the nations. Go through, go through the gates; prepare the way of the people; cast up, cast up the highway, gather out the stones; lift up a standard for the peoples.

You shall go to all to whom I shall send you, and whatever I command you, you shall speak. I am the Lord your God. Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it. What I say to you in the dark, tell in the light; and what you hear whispered in the ear, proclaim upon the housetops. Be not afraid of their faces, for I am with you to deliver you. See, I have this day appointed you to the oversight of the nations and of the kingdoms, to root out and pull down, to destroy and to overthrow, to build and to plant. Gird up your loins; arise and tell them all that I command you. Do not be dismayed and break down at the sight of their faces, lest I confound you before them and permit you to be overcome.

For I, behold, I have made you this day a fortified city, and an iron pillar, and brazen walls against the whole land, against the rulers on the earth and in the heavenlies, giving you divine strength which no hostile power can overcome. And they shall fight against you, but they shall not finally prevail against you, for I am with you to deliver you. Thus says the Lord Who created

1

you and He Who formed you: Fear not, for I have redeemed you -- ransomed you by paying a price instead of leaving you captives. I have called you by your name, you are Mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned or scorched, nor shall the flame kindle upon you.

I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Saviour. You are precious in My sight, and honored, and I love you. You are called by My name. I have created you for My glory. I have formed you, and I have made you. Fear not. I am your strength, your personal bravery, and your invincible army; I will make your feet like hinds' feet, and I will make you to walk -- not to stand still in terror, but to walk -- and make progress upon your high places. As you braid together with Me, your strength and power will be changed and renewed; you will lift your wings and mount up close to Me, as eagles mount up to the sun; you will run and not be weary; you will walk and not faint or become tired.

Behold, the former things have come to pass, and new things I now declare; before they spring forth I tell you of them. I, the Lord, have called you for a righteous purpose and in righteousness. I have taken you by the hand and have kept you. I have given you for a covenant to the people, for a light to the nations; to open the eyes of the blind, to bring out the prisoners from the dungeon, and those who sit in darkness from the prison. Sing to Me a new song, and My praise from the end of the earth!

I am the Lord; that is My name, and My glory I will not give to another, nor My praise to graven images. Seek first My kingdom and My righteousness, and then all the other things will be given you besides. Give, and gifts will be given to you, good measure, pressed down, and shaken together to make room for more, and running over will I cause men to give to you. For with the same measure you use when you confer benefits on others, it will be measured back to you. Know of a surety that whatever good you do for others, you will receive your reward from Me.

I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, if you will steadfastly believe in Me, you will yourself be able to do the things that I did; and you will do even greater things than these, because I go to the Father. I will do -- I Myself will grant -- whatever you may ask in My name, presenting all I AM, so that the Father may be glorified and extolled in and through the Son. Yes, I will grant and will do for you whatever you shall ask in My name, presenting all I AM.

Therefore, go into all the world and preach and publish openly the good news to every creature of the whole human race, saying, "The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand!" Cure the sick; raise the dead; cleanse the lepers; drive out demons. Freely you have received, freely give. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will accompany you because you believe in My name: you will drive out demons; you will speak in new tongues; you will pick up serpents and be unharmed; and even if you drink anything deadly, it will not hurt you; you will lay your hands on the sick, and they will have

2

themselves well. I will work with you and confirm the message you preach with signs and miracles following.

My Spirit rests upon you -- the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and of the reverential and obedient fear of Me. And He makes you of quick understanding, and your delight shall be in the reverential and obedient fear of Me. And you will not judge by the sight of your eyes, neither decide by the hearing of your ears; but with righteousness and justice shall you judge the poor, and decide with fairness for the meek, the poor and downtrodden of the earth; and you will smite the earth and the oppressor with the rod of your mouth; and with the breath of your lips you will slay the wicked. And righteousness shall be the girdle of your waist, and faithfulness the girdle of your loins.

My Spirit is upon you, because I have anointed you to preach the good news to the poor; I have sent you to announce release to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind; to send forth as delivered those who are oppressed, who are downtrodden, bruised, crushed, and broken down by calamity; to proclaim the accepted and acceptable year of the Lord.

You will be able to console, comfort, and encourage others in their trouble, calamity, and affliction with the same consolation and encouragement that you received from Me. A bruised reed you will not break, and a dimly burning wick you will not quench. Behold, you are My servants, whom I uphold; My elect ones in whom My soul delights! I have put My Spirit upon you; you will bring forth justice and right, and reveal truth to the nations.

This is the fasted life that I have chosen for you: to loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the bands of the yoke, to let the oppressed go free, and that you break every enslaving yoke, to divide your bread with the hungry, and bring the homeless poor into your house. When you see the naked, cover him; and hide not yourself from the needs of your own flesh and blood. Then your light shall break forth as the morning, and your healing, your restoration, and the power of a new life shall spring forth speedily; your righteousness shall go before you conducting you to peace and prosperity, and My glory shall be your rear guard.

Then you shall call, and I will answer; you shall cry, and I will say, "Here I AM." If you take away from your midst yokes of oppression wherever you find them, the finger pointed in scorn toward the oppressed or the godly, and every form of false, harsh, unjust, and wicked speaking; and if you pour out that with which you sustain your own life for the hungry, and satisfy the need of the afflicted, then shall your light rise in darkness and your obscurity and gloom be as the noonday.

I will guide you continually, and satisfy you in drought and in dry places, and make strong your bones. And you shall be like a watered garden and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not. And your ancient ruins shall be rebuilt; you shall raise up the foundations of buildings that have laid waste for many generations; and you shall be called the repairer of the breach, the restorer of streets to dwell in.

3

If you turn away your foot from doing your own pleasure, if you call My rest a spiritual delight, if you honor Me by not going your own way, seeking or finding your own pleasure, or speaking with your own words, then shall you delight yourself in Me, and I will make you to ride on the high places of the earth, and I will feed you with the heritage promised to you ...... FOR THE MOUTH OF THE LORD HAS SPOKEN IT!

It was important enough to God . . . and Jesus

for us to have a New Blood Covenant

for Him to send Jesus

to die

in order to cut and ratify It.

It ought to be our life's passion

to know what is in this New Blood Covenant . . .

to believe It 100% . . .

and to receive It 100% !

Bottom line — to live in our inheritance . . .

nothing missing and nothing broken . . .

every whit whole !

Let it never be said of us what was said of those folks in Joshua 18:1-3 . . .

"How long are ye slack to go to possess the land [their inheritance], which the LORD God of your fathers hath given you?"

New Father . . . New Inheritance

The purpose for Jesus' coming and redeeming us was to give us—

(1) a new Father Jesus said to Mary and to us,

". . . I ascend unto my Father, and your Father . . ." (John 20:17) but to the outsiders He said,

"Ye are of your father the devil . . ." (John 8:44)

Father was not a term used in the Old Covenant.

(2) and, therefore, a new inheritance “.  .  .  Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath

translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: in whom we have redemption through his blood . . ." (Col. 1:13-14)

Heir of God and joint-heir with Jesus were not terms used in the Old Covenant.

If you knew someone—let's say, a Rockefeller—and you saw him borrowing money from loan sharks and from everybody he knew, even begging on the street, wouldn't you say to him—

"Why don't you go to your father for help? Don't you know you're his heir? Why are you living so far short of your inheritance? There's nothing else your father can do to make you any more of an heir than you already are, but you have to withdraw what is already yours and is already on deposit in your inheritance account."

Members of the Mafia know far more about the privileges of being in the family than Christians do.

What kind of heirs are we? Are we going hither and yon trying to get what we need—healing, counseling, provisions, assurance, satisfaction, confidence, attention, peace, etc.—when it's already on deposit in in our inheritance account and ours for the withdrawing—for the believing?

There's nothing else our Father can do to make us any more of an heir than we already are. "Giving thanks unto the Father which hath made us meet (enabled, qualified) to be partakers (sharers) of the inheritance of the saints in light . . ." (Col. 1:12)

We—God's people, the Church—are being destroyed for lack of knowledge (see Hos. 4:6)

We are in the family—heirs of God and joint-heirs with Jesus, but we're eating cheese and crackers in our cabin, not knowing what all is included in our ticket on this transoceanic crossing.

All that's needed is for us to be taught, so He can put it into our minds and write it in our hearts. ". . . I will imprint My laws upon their minds, even upon their innermost

thoughts and understanding, and engrave them upon their hearts . . ." (Heb. 8:10 Amplified)

Be it unto me according to Your Word.

I N H E R I T A N C E

Have you ever known or heard about anyone who received a very, very large inheritance? In a moment of time [the death of the testator], the benefactor's Last Will and Testament became valid, and the heir became very, very wealthy. Everything about the way the heir thinks, responds, plans, gives, works, prays, and lives changes, especially if the heir had been a pauper. But no matter how great the inheritance, there is always the nagging thought that it could run out someday. The stock market crash and Great Depression proved that.

I recently realized that I knew someone who had received an inheritance, so I interviewed Joanna and was surprised and blessed by the things she said. As she told me how her inheritance had changed her life, I knew why the Holy Spirit had persisted in nudging me to talk with her. Joanna said:

"When I was in my early teens, my great, great Aunt Sophie, whom my family and I had never met, traveled a great distance just to meet us. Before she returned to her home, she said to us, 'My immediate family doesn't live right, and I know they won't appreciate and take care of the inheritance I have to give. However, you and your family are people of integrity and character, and I have decided to have it written in my will that you are to inherit my estate.'

"When Aunt Sophie died, the inheritance went to my mother and her sister, and years later, it was all given to me." I asked Joanna if she looked at the beautiful things during those years and thought, "One day that will be mine." She said, "Oh, no. I thought, 'One day I'll be responsible for that, and I'll be passing it on.'"

Joanna continued: "When my mother's sister died, I received several items in the inheritance that were to come to me by way of my aunt. I felt a tremendous sense of connection—a living connection, because an inheritance gives such a feeling of at-one-ment. I didn't inherit money, but I inherited beautiful and valuable heirlooms. My father told me, 'It doesn't matter how much you have as long as you make it better. That's your part in it.'

"Years later when my father and mother died, I received the remainder of my inheritance from Aunt Sophie's estate, and I also received the many treasures that my parents had left to me. I have great joy and pride in my family, our family name, and who my parents were and what they imparted to me.

"An inheritance is from the past . . . that I'm responsible for in the present . . . but in the future, I will hand it down to the next generation, because an inheritance is something that comes through you—it's not yours, and you can't think of it as yours. I have made a commitment to be a faithful steward with this inheritance that I'm responsible for."

As we were finishing the interview, I pointed to a large oil portrait on the wall and asked, "Who is that?" Joanna said, "One of my ancestors on my mother's side." I said to her, "As we read Hebrews 11, we are seeing portraits of our ancestors, and we're hearing about what they've handed down to us. Just think about that!"

The only way to receive an inheritance is through the family line. I cannot receive an inheritance in Joanna's family, because I'm not in her family. The only way to inherit all that God said in His Word, is to be in God's family, and the only way into His Covenant family is Jesus—the Way.

Webster says heir means: (1) one who inherits or is entitled to inherit property (2) one who receives the property of a deceased person especially by operation of law

or by virtue of a will [covenant] (3) one who inherits or is entitled to succeed to a hereditary rank, title, or office (4) one who receives or is entitled to receive some endowment or quality from a parent

or predecessor

2

That phrase—or is entitled to—really caught my attention! Even though someone is entitled to an inheritance does not mean they are automatically walking in it. There are notices in the newspapers from time to time that notify people of money or property they've inherited but have not claimed. I wonder if there are storage areas in heaven labeled "Unclaimed Inheritances." Is my name on some of that stuff?

If I were the daughter of a millionaire, I would not consider going into debt or choosing a financial source other than my inheritance! Since I am an heir of God and a joint-heir with Jesus, why would I even think about choosing a source other than God to meet my needs?!?

As New Covenant Christians, we have received an inheritance that can never crash, never run out, never be rescinded; and yet, very few of us, if any, are living in the fullness of what has been passed down to us—that is, what we are entitled to. How do I know? Our thinking, responding, planning, giving, working, praying—our living hasn't changed much. If we would listen to how we pray and to the songs we sing, we would realize

we're asking God to do what He's already done, to to give what He's already given, and to bring to pass what He said is already finished.

If we are asking Him to do what He said is already done, we're asking Him to do it again and are, in essence, saying the first time wasn't enough. Selah.

We need to pay attention to the words that are in the past tense in the Bible, because that means it has already happened. There's nothing more for God to do to get our inheritance to us. He wrote out His Last Will and Testament, died so it would become of force, and then arose again to be sure it's carried out. Our inheritance is already on deposit, and now it's up to us to lay claim to it and live in it.

In the Old Covenant (the law of sin and death), sin and its curse had creditor-power because the debt owed had never been paid—just put off, appeased, refinanced, mortgaged; and the borrower was subject to the lender. The Old Covenant inheritance was bondage to sin and its curse because of the law.

But in the New Covenant (the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus), the debt owed to sin and its curse has been paid in full. Sin and its curse no longer have any authority and power over a New Covenant believer. When a mortgage is paid off, the mortgagor can no longer demand payments of the mortgagee, because a paid-off mortgage is a null and void mortgage. Similarly, a pawn shop owner can no longer demand more money once the amount owed has been paid in full and the item has been reclaimed and removed from the pawn shop. That's redemption! Our New Covenant inheritance is freedom from captivity to sin and all its curse because the ransom has been paid in full.

When Jesus cut the New Covenant, He took sin and its curse and paid the penalty for sin and its curse with His own body. Nothing else is owed. The curse includes every form of stealing, killing and destroying—and every sickness and every disease, too. (Deut. 28:15-68) Sin and its curse have no more power over those in the New Covenant. The only power a creditor has over us is when we still owe him something. Once our debt has been paid in full, the creditor is powerless as far as we are concerned. Therefore, sin and its curse—including all sickness and disease—are powerless as far as we are concerned.

Our New Covenant inheritance is wholeness—nothing missing and nothing broken! Because sin and its curse are powerless because of the blood of Jesus, our inheritance is salvation, but that's not limited to "fire insurance" and "a ticket to heaven." Every time we hear, or think, or read salvation, we must remember its full definition in the Greek—deliverance, healing, pardon, preservation, restoration, safety, soundness, and wholeness. What an inheritance! It covers everything! The New Covenant covers everything, and there are no codicils attached to it—all means all!

How do we know what our inheritance includes? Even as the heir of an estate learns about their

3

inheritance from their predecessor's Last Will and Testament, we also learn about our inheritance by reading, meditating on, and believing God's Covenant Word—Genesis 1 through Revelation 22. Deuteronomy 28:1-14, Psalm 91, and John 14-17 are good starting places to learn what is already ours.

For example, Genesis 1 says the grass, flowers and pollen, trees, animals, and everything else that God created [He said] were "very good." What God called "very good" in Genesis 1 is still "very good" now; therefore, allergies to things God created are not part of our inheritance. Just think of the many Christians we know who are tormented year-round by something that's not in their inheritance and that should have no effect on them, but they're being destroyed for lack of knowledge of their inheritance. If we don't go to our Attorney—Jesus, our Advocate—and find out where we stand, how can we expect to receive what has been handed down to us? If we do not know our rights, we don't have what's rightfully ours.

For more heirlooms in our inheritance, read Paul's letters (especially Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, and Colossians) and make a list of all the things Bro. Paul tells those believers has been done for them and, therefore, for us—e.g., delivered, transferred, transformed, quickened, strengthened, grounded, rooted, filled, enlightened, adopted, justified, obtained, healed, redeemed, received, reconciled, blessed, sanctified, restored, renewed, old things are passed away, etc. Keith Moore says it so well, "Past tense accomplishment: present tense reality."

I've been taught Eph. 1:17-18 means we (the saints) are God's inheritance, but that's not what it says. The Message Bible makes it so plain: "I ask God to make you intelligent and discerning in knowing Him personally, your eyes focused and clear, so that you can see exactly what it is He is calling you to do, grasp the immensity (riches) of this glorious (glory) way of life He has (inheritance)for Christians (saints)." Paul was crying out, "O, that you would receive and live in ALL that you have inherited!"

BOTTOM LINE: If it's stealing, killing, or destroying, it's NOT part of our inheritance! If it's in the Old Covenant but was made better in the New Covenant, then the better is part of our inheritance. For example, Gideon depended on a fleece to know if it was God talking to him, but we are to hear and obey His voice, not a circumstance. (Judges 6, John 10)

How do we lay claim to our inheritance? By believing God is who He says He is . . , and by expecting Him to do what He said He would do—His Word, His Covenant, His Will. That's how God defines faith in Hebrews 11:6.

How can we live in our inheritance and see it change our lives? If the UPS man came to our door and had a box of snakes with our name on it, would we sign for it? No way! In the same way, we should not sign for anything that's not in our inheritance! Every time a thought, a symptom, or a spoken word tries (knocking at our door) to put something on us that's opposite to deliverance, healing, pardon, preservation, restoration, safety, soundness, and wholeness, we must stop it—believing and saying,

"No way! That's not in my inheritance! Get out of here! I am a joint-heir with Jesus!

I am delivered, healed, pardoned, preserved, restored, safe, sound, and whole!"

The full meaning of our redemption-inheritance should be the focus of our thought life so that we are meditating on our inheritance day and night. 1 Thess. 5:8 says our helmet is the hope of salvation, which means the Word-picture (hope) in our thought life (helmet) should always be deliverance, healing, pardon, preservation, restoration, safety, soundness, and wholeness (salvation). Then all we'd ever accept or see ourselves walking in would be deliverance,

healing, pardon,

preservation, restoration,

4

safety, soundness, and

wholeness!

The tendency is to get bored with this repetition and to skip over this list of eight words, saying to ourselves, "blah, blah, blah" or "etc., etc., etc."

We have been taught that salvation means being born again, our "fire insurance" to escape hell, and our "ticket to heaven," These three reasons are true, but they're only for the future, The full meaning of salvation is for the here and now.

How many people do we know who are now living delivered from every form of captivity, healed of every sickness and every disease (including chronic ailments), pardoned and free of guilt, preserved from every weapon formed against them, restored to face-to-face intimacy in God's secret place 24-7, safe and inaccessible no matter how fierce the storm, sound in their spirit, soul, mind, body, family, business—absolutely whole?

Our minds need to be renewed—hence, the repetition.

This syncopated jingle helps me to remember them—

"D, H, and dou-ble P P. . . R, double S, and dou-ble U."

Let the redeemed of the Lord say so! "This is who I am and where I am—I am delivered, healed, pardoned, preserved, restored, safe, sound, and whole! I am an heir of God and a joint-heir with Jesus. The Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and its curse [incipient death]. My inheritance is first person and present tense—for me and right now—nothing missing and nothing broken!"

What is our responsibility regarding our inheritance? Jesus said it this way, "Go out and train everyone you meet, far and near, in this way of life. . . .Then instruct them in the practice of all I have commanded you. . . .Go to the lost, confused people right here in the neighborhood. Tell them that the Kingdom is here. Bring health to the sick. Raise the dead. Touch the untouchables. Kick out the demons. You have been treated generously, so live generously. . . .Pass on what you heard from Me to reliable leaders who are competent to teach others." (Mt 28:19-20; 10:7-8; 2 Tim. 2:2 The Message Bible)

Becoming "inheritance minded" should be the #1 sermon topic for preachers and the #1 passion for believers, because the Church is full of heirs who aren't walking in their inheritance and full of redeemed ones who are still in bondage in satan's Pawn Shop. For example, if we really believed we have our inheritance, the only thing in our medicine cabinet would be the Covenant Meal! Selah.

Many years ago in the British Isles, during the time when any Christian caught worshiping God was imprisoned or executed . . in the wee hours of the morning, a young lady slipped through the darkness to the clandestine meeting of her local church, where they would be partaking of the Covenant Meal. Suddenly, a soldier stepped across her path with his weapon pointed right at her, and he yelled, "Where are you going?"

She knew she had to tell the truth; yet, if she did, he would force her to show him where the meeting was, and he'd kill everyone. Silently she prayed and asked God for a way of escape.

Counting on the soldier's ignorance of the Covenant, she said to him, "My elder Brother has died, and I'm going to hear the reading of His Will and to receive my part of the

inheritance." The soldier let her go.

5

Jesus said,

"Everything the Father has is also Mine.

That is why I've said, `He [the Holy Spirit] takes from Me and delivers to you.'"

(John 16:15 The Message Bible)

That's our inheritance— the transfer of property that's guaranteed by Jesus' blood!

Picture a family and the attorney sitting around a conference table for the reading of the Last Will and Testament of the family patriarch who has died. Some of the family members are excitedly anticipating what they'll inherit, because Papa, the head of the family, had everything!

As the attorney begins to disclose and declare the Will, he's telling each one in the family what has been transferred to their account. He reads . . . and reads . . and reads.

Look at what's happening—some of the hearers are ecstatic and are already making plans how they'll use their inheritance! "It's mine! I'm an heir! Thanks, Papa!"

But others just haven't grasped it yet. They're observing, but not receiving. They're thinking, "I wish I hadn't . . ."

"How can I earn that . . .?" "Maybe someday . . ."

"I don't deserve that. Just to be in the family is enough."

That's what has been happening in the Church, too!

And now, brethren, I commit you to God—that is, I deposit you in His charge, entrusting you to His protection and care.

And I commend you to the Word of His grace— to the commands and counsels and promises of His unlimited favor.

It is able to build you up and to give you your rightful inheritance

among all God's set-apart ones—those consecrated, purified and transformed of soul.

Acts 20:32 Amplified

A DEATH HAS TAKEN PLACE ! THE "WILL" IS IN EFFECT !

WE HAVE AN INHERITANCE !

LET'S RECEIVE . exclaiming,

"BE IT UNTO ME ACCORDING TO YOUR WORD !"

The God of Jesus and Me

Jesus made a Covenant with God, the Father, Sealed it with His Own precious blood;

And I became a joint-heir of the Covenant He made When I confessed Jesus as my Lord.

It's the New Covenant, and it's better than the Old, Filled with better promises, you see. Now He's the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, The God of Jesus, and me.

The written Word of God is full of Covenant-talk, Telling what God's promised He would do;

When I believe, and talk, and act on what He says, His dynamic power makes it true!

It's the New Covenant, and it's better than the Old, Filled with better promises, you see. Now He's the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, The God of Jesus, and me.

All I have is His, and all He has is mine He supplies my ev'ry want and need.

I just praise and worship Him with Covenant-talk— I'm learning how to live abundantly!

It's the New Covenant, and it's better than the Old, Filled with better promises, you see. Now He's the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, The God of Jesus, and me.

INHERITANCE

This is the time when we have to shift gears from what He did to what is ours; but somehow we've gotten hung-up in neutral between knowing what He did . . . and . . . appropriating all of it to us now—not "gonna be," nor "wishin' and hopin' and prayin' for Him to give it to us whenever He's ready"—but really grasping,

"This is who I am now, because the Blood Covenant is my inheritance now."

It is our responsibility to walk in our inheritance ourselves–then shout it from the housetops and tell it on the mountains.

Appreciate your pastoral leaders who gave you the Word of God. Take a good look at the way they live, and let their faithfulness instruct you, as well as their truthfulness. There should be a consistency that runs through us all. For Jesus doesn't change—yesterday, today, tomorrow, he's always totally himself. (Heb. 13:7-8 THE MESSAGE) —and we're joint-heirs!

Jesus said it this way, Go out and train everyone you meet, far and near, in this way of life . . . Then instruct

them in the practice of all I have commanded you. Go to the lost, confused people right here in the neighborhood. Tell them that the kingdom is here. Bring health to the sick. Raise the dead. Touch the untouchables. Kick out the demons. You have been treated generously, so live generously. Pass on what you heard from me . . . to reliable leaders who are competent to teach others. (Matt. 28:19-20; 10:7-8; 2 Tim. 2:2 THE MESSAGE)

God has already done everything He's going to do—it's the preaching and teaching that have to change in order for the Church to walk in her full redemption. "Becoming Inheritance- Minded" should be the #1 sermon topic for preachers and the #1 passion for believers, because the Church is full of heirs who aren't walking in their inheritance and full of redeemed joint-heirs who are still in bondage in satan's Pawn Shop—"eating cheese and crackers" and being destroyed for lack of knowledge. Acts 20:32 Amplified says,

And now, brethren, I commit you to God—that is, I deposit you in His charge, entrusting you to His protection and care.

And I commend you to the Word of His grace— to the commands and counsels and promises of His unmerited favor.

It is able to build you up and to give you [your rightful] inheritance among all God's set-apart ones—those consecrated, purified and transformed of soul.

A death has taken place. The Will is in effect. We have an inheritance.

Let's receive ... exclaiming, "Be it unto me according to Your Word—

Your binding Agreement that is guaranteed by blood and that has transferred property—to me!"

Walking Free Psalm 91

Safe in the union with Him,

by Him, in Him.

It is knowing that my Father

surely is Who He says He is.

Dwelling in the secret place of the Most High God, my Lord... being sheltered under His wings... safe...from the storm.

By the Word of my Father hidden deep

in my heart, real to me...

Now I openly trust Him, knowing His

love for me... walking free.

Joint-Heir Declarations — As a joint-heir with Jesus, these are your declarations, too:

My food (nourishment) is to do the will (pleasure) of Him Who sent me and to accomplish and completely finish His work. (John 4:34)

I am able to do nothing from myself—of my own accord; but I am able to do only what I see the Father doing. For whatever the Father does is what I do in the same way [in my turn]. The Father dearly loves me and discloses (shows) to me everything that He Himself does. And He will disclose to me—let me see—greater things yet than these, so that you may marvel and be full of wonder and astonishment.

I am able to do nothing from myself—independently, of my own accord—but as I am taught by God and as I get His orders. [I decide as I am bidden to decide. As the voice comes to me, so I give a decision.] Even as I hear, I judge and my judgment is right (just, righteous), because I do not seek or consult my own will—I have no desire to do what is pleasing to myself, my own aim, my own purpose—but only the will and pleasure of the Father Who sent me . . .

. . . for the works that the Father has appointed me to accomplish and finish, the very same works that I am now doing, are a witness and proof that the Father has sent me. And the Father Who sent me has Himself testified concerning me. (John 5:19-20, 30, 36-37)

As you fmd more references, add them to this list . . .

With... Gabriel said to Mary, "...for with God nothing shall be impossible." (Lk.1:37) Jesus said

to us, "...with men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible." (Mk. 10:27)

The Holy Spirit of Truth knew I was reading these words, but I was hearing and believing something other than (and less than) what it actually says. Suddenly, I "saw" myself standing at the half-court line of a basketball court. I was given a basketball and told that if I could make a basket from half-court, I would receive one million dollars. Now, for me, that's totally impossible! I wasn't even sure I could get the ball TO the goal line -- let alone IN the goal! Then... I looked over on the sideline and saw Michael Jordan standing there with a basketball in his hands, waiting for his turn to make a basket from half-court; and I said to myself, "For him, it's possible, but for me — no way."

Then I saw it! I'd been reading the above scriptures, but I'd been inserting FOR in place of WITH... "for God nothing shall be impossible," along with "for Michael Jordan, it's possible." But these promises don't say FOR, they say WITH!

WITH is a Covenant term. You can't have a Covenant if you're alone — a Covenant is made with someone. With God... God with me... I am in the Father in Covenant union. It's no longer just puny  ol’  little  me  trying  to  do  what  He  said...  all  alone. No! I am with God, and He's with me! We are a majority! "If God be for me, who can be against me? Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us. .. for He hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. Lo, I am with you alway..." (Rom. 8:31, 37; Heb. 13:5; Matt. 28:20)

Now, the promises are first person (that's me) and present tense (right NOW -- which is exactly when I need them)!

"With men it is impossible, but not with God...

for with God, all things are possible!"

ALL THAT YOU'LL NEED

Be of good cheer! I've overcome.

Abide in Me, one with the Son.

For I am all that you'll need. All that you'll need.

I'll be to thee...

All that you'll need.

I'll show you, child, of things to come — You'll be fore-warned, you'll be fore-armed.

For I am all that you'll need. All that you'll need.

I'll be to thee...

All that you'll need.

Now I have all that I need! All that I need!

He is to me...

all that I need!

BRAID TOGETHER WITH . . . Think about holding a spool of sewing thread in your hands... Now, unwind it and hold about a 24" piece of thread with both hands. Pull hard! [SNAP!] It breaks! That thread represents you — your strength, your wisdom, your abilities, your body. It holds up pretty well — until real pressure is put on it, then it breaks under the load.

But now, picture a 5' section of heavy, heavy rope... about as big around as your wrist — very strong and heavy-duty. Grab hold of that rope and pull — PULL HARD! It won't break! That rope symbolizes Almighty God and His indestructible power! No matter what, it's impossible for Him to fail or be lacking.

Think about inserting a drinking straw through the hole in the spool of thread, so that it will freely unwind. Let a few feet of the thread unwind and let it be twisted around that heavy rope... around and around, around and around. Now, no matter how hard you pull on the thread-around-the-rope, the thread can no longer be broken! Now the thread is able to do whatever the rope can do — even tow a car! — which the thread never could have done alone.

That twisting of the thread around the rope illustrates the literal meaning of the Hebrew word for wait [braid by twisting, i.e. collect, (figuratively) to expect] in Isaiah 40:28-31 in the Amplified:

"Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth,

does not faint or grow weary; there is no searching of His understanding.

He gives power to the faint and weary, and to him who has no might He increases strength —

causing it to multiply and making it abound. Even youths shall faint and be weary,

and the selected young men shall feebly stumble and fall exhausted. But those who wait for the Lord —

who expect, look for, and hope in Him — shall change and renew their strength and power;

they shall lift their wings and mount up close to God as eagles mount up to the sun;

they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint or become tired."

As you by faith (that's the straw that lets the thread unwind freely) reach out to the Lord God Almighty, your weakness is swallowed up by His strength, your not-knowing-what-to-do is swallowed by His wisdom, your inability is swallowed up by His all-sufficiency, your sickness-in-body is swallowed up by His healing. He's covenanted to be to you EVERYTHING that you need. He's firm in adherence to His promises! Let Him be GOD in your life!

This is what Jehoshaphat was doing in 2 Chronicles 20:12 when he said to God, ". . . for we have no might against this great company that cometh against us; neither know we what to do: but our eyes are upon thee." He was recognizing he was as weak as sewing thread ("All we have is Yours!"); but at the same time, he was expecting his Covenant-keeping God to be the invincible rope. God immediately responded to his faith, saying (vss. 15, 17), "Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God's. Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the LORD with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; to morrow go out against them: for the LORD will be with…  (next  page)

you." In other words, "All I have is yours!"

This is what Paul meant by "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" . . . . "Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors" . . . . "If God be for us [twisted around the rope], who can be against us [easily broken thread]?" (Phil. 4:13; Rom. 8:37, 31)

This is what God meant in 2 Cor. 12:9 when He said to Paul, "My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength [rope] is made perfect in weakness [thread]." God was not answering Paul saying, "Hang in there because I'm getting glory by your being persecuted," as some have taught. God was saying,

"Paul, by My unlimited grace I've already given you the way of escape, but you are not walking in what you know. You are the one who wrote down:

There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. 1 Cor. 10:13 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (for the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; and having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled. 2 Cor. 10:3-6 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Eph. 6:10, 12 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Phil. 4:13, 19 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. Gal. 5:1

"Unwind that thread, Paul—believing! I'll take hold-together-with-against! Cast all your care on Me, the Good Shepherd, for I am well able to set you free. Sheep are not designed to carry burdens, like oxen and donkeys are. I'm only glorified when My people are living in their redemption freedom and wholeness—nothing missing and nothing broken. Believe what I've taught you, and I'll do the rest!"

When the thread is twisting around the rope, an exchange is taking place:

THREAD ROPE weakness is being exchanged for strength not knowing is being exchanged for wisdom turmoil is being exchanged for peace sickness is being exchanged for health poverty is being exchanged for supply tossed about is being exchanged for established fear is being exchanged for faith

WARNING: With the drinking straw still inserted through the spool of thread and the thread still unwinding and twisting around the rope, if you place your thumb on the spool, what happens? It stops unwinding! That's what unbelief does—it stops faith from working. All fear, doubt, and "Plan B" are spelled U-N-B-E-L-I-E-F.

What you are about to read actually happened...

In the British Isles... during the time when any Christian caught worshiping God was imprisoned or executed...

In the wee hours of the morning, a young lady slipped through the darkness to the clandestine meeting of her local church, where they would be partaking of the Covenant Meal.

Suddenly, a soldier stepped across her path with his weapon pointed right at her! He yelled, "Where are you going?"

She knew she had to tell the truth. Yet, if she did, he would force her to show him where the meeting was, and he'd kill everyone. Silently... she prayed in her heart and asked God for "a way of escape."

Counting on the soldier's ignorance of the Covenant, she said to him, "My elder Brother has died, and I'm going to hear the reading of His Will and to receive my part of the inheritance."

The soldier let her go.

The Table When I sit before my Father,

and I hold the bread and wine in remembrance of what Jesus did

and survey all that's mine... It's a Covenant with Father God,

and it's better than the 'old' - all I have is God's... all He has is mine...

sweetest story ever told!

Broken bread speaks of His Body and the bleeding stripes He bore...

how He took all sickness and disease... gives healing evermore!

And the wine speaks of His crimson blood that He shed for all my sin...

how He died and went to hell for me... my redemption thus to win!

For three days, He suffered agony... satan thought he had Him chained!

Then the Court of Heav'n said, "Justified!" By the Spirit — born again!

And it also says He 'rose again, my High Priest now is He!

In His death, He was my substitute! This... the table means to me.

Partaking of the Covenant Meal . . . is saying:

Wholeness is my inheritance. Jesus bought it. He paid for my wholeness with His own BODY -

paid for every sickness and disease, every "missing and broken."

He purchased healing, health, and wholeness. Gave it to me.

Wholeness is mine.

Freedom from captivity is my inheritance. Jesus bought it. He paid for my freedom with His own BLOOD. I am forgiven, and it is forgotten. I'm free from all captivity

to sin, the curse, the past, the world, and the enemy. Clod sees me in Jesus. I'm in right-standing before His throne. We are one... in Covenant.

Redemption is mine.

Partaking of the Covenant meal is saying, "This is my inheritance!

Wholeness is mine! Freedom from all captivity is mine! Right-standing is mine! All that Jesus has is mine! I'm an heir of Clod... and a joint-heir with Jesus! Nothing missing: nothing broken!

I receive and live in what is mine... NOW!"

In remembrance of Me . . . Jesus also said, ". . . this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of Me." (1 Cor. 11:25)

He was saying,

"I do not want you to just remember that I died, as you sit there picturing Me hanging on the cross all bloody and limp. No way! I want you to remember that-

I had your sin on Me; I had your curses on Me, too; I had given My back to the smiters in your place, and I was

acquiring My Dr. Jesus degree for your benefit; I was purchasing your freedom from the bondage of sin and the

torment of all the curses—including all diseases; I was freeing you from captivity by stamping your ransom

note—PAID IN FULL; I was 'giving you the double;' I was cutting Covenant with God for you;

and I not only want you to remember that, I want you to-

believe that; appropriate that; take hold of all that your Blood Covenant provides, so that it has a

noticeable and profound effect on your entire being; be a trophy for Father and Me to hold up before everyone—living

proof that the Blood Covenant makes the difference between Egypt and Mt. Sinai, between bondage and freedom, between the world and the Word;

receive all of your inheritance; stand fast in your freedom; come and dine—no more 'cheese and crackers'!

When My joint-heirs live in the fullness of their inheritance, it makes all that I suffered for you all—worth it."

“This Do … in Remembrance of Me” Taking the BREAD...

You are the Bread of Heaven... broken for me You are my Source of ALL nourishment. You sustain and preserve me. You are my Strength. You are my Health and Wholeness. Your BODY took my sin and my sin's curse that was aimed at me. Your BODY has freed me from captivity to sin and the curse by paying my ransom...

in full. Your BODY has released me from the limitation of sin and its guilt. Your BODY has canceled the curse -- the due and merited punishment for my sin.

All I have is Yours... and all You have is mine.

I receive all that Your BODY has done for me... in Jesus' name.

Taking the CUP... With Your BLOOD, You have cut Covenant with Almighty God for me. Your life's BLOOD has been poured out for me. You were willing to die for me, so that I could be reborn and live in union with God

through You. You now live by the power of the everlasting Covenant to watch over Your Word and

to guarantee its fulfillment. Your BLOOD seals the Covenant Word of God to me. I am purified, cleansed, and positioned in right-standing in God's presence by Your

BLOOD. I am shielded and protected by the Covenant BLOOD of my Lord, my Savior, and my

Redeemer.

All I have is Yours... and all You have is mine.

I receive all that Your BLOOD has done for me... in Jesus' name.

I drink ALL of the New Covenant!

Joshua 1:5-9 Amplified

BEFORE . . . Mary had a little lamb. It grew to be a sheep,

joined a denominational church, and died from lack of sleep.

That was me. I was raised in a Christian home, and I was like all the other Christians I knew—going to church, reading my Bible (even winning awards for memorizing scriptures and being able to find them quickly in the Bible), praying, and singing in the choir.

But I was also like all the other Christians I knew—sometimes up and sometimes down, always sick, never overcoming, never more than a conqueror, not steady and sure no matter the storm, weapons formed against me were prospering, darts were turning into bonfires. I was not prospering, nor seeing God work in my life—and not even sure He would.

I was not experiencing what I saw happening in the Bible—not really even knowing that it was possible because I'd never seen anyone else living that way . . . but down deep inside, I was hungry for it to be.

After I was grown and had a family, someone gave me a set of teaching tapes by Malcolm Smith on the BLOOD COVENANT. I listened to them over and over and over; and each time, I heard something new.

AFTER . . . I began to learn that the Bible was not just another book and not just a contract that can be changed

and rescinded; but it is a Blood Covenant that God made with His people—the Old Blood Covenant before the Cross, and the New Blood Covenant at the Cross. I learned that a Blood Covenant is perpetual, indissoluble, immutable, and unbreakable because it is guaranteed by the blood of Jesus. It's not just anybody's words and promises, but it is the Word of Almighty God that He has sworn by Himself to keep—He Who cannot lie and cannot fail.

It was like the bottom step that had been broken all my life was now in place on the step ladder, and it was strong . . . like the kaleidoscope had been turned just a fraction and all the pieces now fit together . . . like I was walking on rock, instead of sand and mud . . . like I was finally anchored sure and steadfast and no longer drifting.

All the stories, miracles, promises, and instructions I'd been reading and hearing all my life began to come together and make sense, and they began to happen . . . to me—the faith to believe, the strength to stand, the understanding to be consistent, the heart to love, the courage to be true, the peace that passes understanding, the wisdom to see and know and say so.

After I had been meditating on the Bible from Blood Covenant perspective for many years, suddenly, I heard God say, "Write down what I've been teaching you." Sought Out and Blood Bought is the result.

Question: What difference has understanding the Blood Covenant made in your life?

Answer: The same difference a foundation makes in a house

The foundation keeps the house squared, plumbed, and tied down per the Designer's plans.

The foundation keeps the finish of the walls and other surfaces from being damaged.

The foundation holds the house together and stabilizes it when the storms assail.

The foundation locates and connects the house to its designated place.

The foundation takes the load, strengthens, and upholds the house.

The foundation that is sure and true can be depended on...no matter what!

Through the foundation, the house is connected to all it needs, to be all it was designed to be.

GOD'S PROOF... [Genesis 15:1-21, especially verses 2-3] God made a promise to Abram.

Abram said, "How do I know You'll do this?"

God's proof that He'd be firm in adherence to His promise was to cut a blood covenant with Abram.

A blood covenant cannot be changed! Abram believed it,

and God stuck to it and fulfilled every promise!

BLOOD COVENANT CONFIDENCE DESTROYS DOUBT It's the same for us today.

How do we know God will fulfill His Word toward us? We have Jesus' blood of the New Covenant

guaranteeing to us that God will stick to His Word and do exactly what He said He'd do.

The promise ) The Covenant ) God does! The fulfillment )

The believing we do!

This was the beginning of a covenant relationship between God and man. From this point on, Abram (soon to be renamed, Abraham), never asked God for proof of anything He promised to him. Every word God spoke to Abram from this point on was backed up by this blood covenant. A blood covenant was the final word. In Luke 1:18, Gabriel came to Zechariah to tell him his barren wife, Elisabeth, would conceive and have a son, who was to be named John. Zechariah's response was, in essence, "Prove it." Zechariah already had the covenant (still in effect since Abraham — and to his generations, to whomever would believe it) to give him confidence God would do what He said He would do. To ask for further proof was doubt, and that unbelief (verse 20) was met with immediate judgment. His words were silenced until the birth took place. In Luke 1:26-38, Gabriel came to Mary with the news that she would be the mother of Jesus. She believed his words (verse 38), and her asking how it would happen (verse 34) was because she was a virgin. God knew the attitude of her heart, of Zechariah's; and He knows ours, too. Our response to God's Word must be like Mary's — "Be it unto me according to Your Word."

Understanding the Blood Covenant has to do with TRUST —

with never doubting again, with never wavering again, with never fearing again.

God's very being...His life's blood...

is guaranteeing His Word,

which is His Blood Covenant with us!

Father,

Thank You for establishing the power and absoluteness of the blood covenant.

Thank You for teaching the covenant to me;

...and for continuing to teach me so that —

covenant is the way I think, covenant is the way I talk, covenant is the way I act, covenant is the way I believe, covenant is the way I live, and covenant is the way I minister.

Most of all, Father, thank You for Your faithfulness to the covenant... that is, Your faithfulness to the blood of Jesus.

T r a f f i c f r o m a N e w P e r s p e c t i v e Picture yourself in a traffic helicopter hovering above a freeway of congested traffic. Now, put

on a helmet -- not one that gives you infrared vision, but as-you-have-read vision into the spirit realm. You still see the cars... but now you also see the demons whirling around, feverishly and fiendishly attacking this one and that one, now that one... back to this one to fan the smoldering ember already ignited making it hotter and bigger still! It's a diabolical storm!

Here are some of the "fiery darts" that are being hurled at the drivers; and if the darts are given access (because there is no shield to prevent it), a tumult results:

offense rebellion to traffic laws impatience strife temper, anger, wrath, rage unforgiveness arrogance irresponsible strife and discord greediness fear and panic despondent (even suicidal)

Drivers are: arguing with other passengers, or person on cell phone, or disc jockey on the radio selfish — could care less about others -- it's just me, my car, my rights, my schedule heady — using unwise speed, risk-taking, "dare-devil" judgmental — based on condition of other car, age of person, nationality, "woman" driver so pressured by schedules that they drive in dangerous weather, ice, etc. distracted by cell phones, music, eating, putting on makeup, upset kids in car, etc. driving drunk, drugged, sleepy, hyped, hysterical, exhausted, etc.

These "powers" are driving people to extremes and can even result in gunning down other drivers, running down highway workers, and truck drivers shooting at drivers that irritated them.

Speeding cars and trucks have the potential to kill and maim. It's no place for satan to be in control! When you want to scream, "This traffic is terrible!" -- hear Jesus say, "Where is YOUR faith? Speak to the wind and waves that are contrary to peace and calm! My Spirit is hovering above this `storm'... waiting to hear faith-filled words like I heard in the beginning in Genesis."

Look at this traffic situation from Covenant perspective, which says: "Father, all I have (this turmoil and tumult) is Yours." You'll hear Him respond, "And all I have is yours! Speak 'PEACE! Be still!' to this storm! I'll loose My Spirit to manifest peace, kindness, gentleness, self-control, love, meekness*, patience and forbearance, long-suffering, and joy to everyone on this highway!"

Back in the helicopter... Look down there at all those cars and trucks. Do you see that one car that looks like... why, it looks like a prickles-encased car? That's a driver who has allowed the Word of God to be his/her shield, like it says in Psalm 91:4; and that Truth-shield has made them inaccessible to the fiery darts of impatience, anger, stress, etc. [Shield in Psalm 91:4 means to guard as if by prickliness and comes from the root word meaning cactus hedge. The prickles all over a cactus prevent anything from getting to the inside of the cactus, making it inaccessible.] It's our choice to respond to the Word that ministers peace and calm, or to respond to the opposite. Choosing the Word... is... faith.

Whenever you've noticed that everything was going smoothly in traffic and everyone was being considerate and reasonable... it's because some believer had spoken "Peace! Be still!" to that "storm."

Amen! Go, and do thou likewise!

*strength under control

This is my Covenant with You, Father. This is my inheritance . . . as Your child.

I am who it says I am. I have what it says I have. I can do what it says I can do.

I am about to receive the incorruptible, indestructible, ever-living seed of the Word of God. I will NEVER be the same!

I will not receive any limitation no matter who says it.

I will check out everything 1 hear with the Word of God, and I'll believe the Word of my God.

I confess my body is refreshed, my mind is alert, and my heart is receptive.

I won't leave here like I came in Jesus' Name!

So be it! Portions are quoted from John Osteen

2 UNCHANGEABLE THINGS . . Accordingly, God also,

in His desire to show more convincingly and beyond doubt,

to those who were to inherit the PROMISE,

the unchangeableness of His purpose and plan, intervened (mediated) with an OATH.

This was so that by two unchangeable things -His PROMISE and His OATH,

in which it is impossible for God ever to prove false or deceive us,

we who have fled to Him for refuge,

might have mighty indwelling strength and strong encouragement

to grasp and hold fast

the hope appointed for us and set before us.

NOW... we have this hope as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul —

it cannot slip and it cannot break down

under whoever steps out upon it - a hope that reaches farther

and enters into the very certainty of the Presence within the veil,

where Jesus has entered in for us in advance, a Forerunner, having become a High Priest forever

after the order and with the rank of Melchizedek.

Hebrews 6:17-20 Amplified

KNOW When you really KNOW someone, what is it that makes that knowledge a

fact? Close your eyes and think about it ...................................................

Now, take all those factors (you've just thought about) and apply them to your new relationship with Father God, for one of the four things that makes the NEW Covenant better than the OLD is that we'll KNOW Him.

BY the Holy Spirit, He's covenanted: (1) to imprint His Word IN our mind and

subconscious and engrave it upon our spirit, (2) He will be our God, and we will be His people (3) that we will KNOW Him, and (4) to FORGIVE our sins, CANCEL their debt, and FORGET

them

GOD wanted these four NEW things! He's made the way so that we KNOW Him—know what He's thinking; know

what He wants; know what He doesn't want; know where He wants to go; know what He wants to do; know what He wants to say; know if He's offended by something or someone; know if He's angry or joyful; know if He wants to be quiet and just be with us ~ no words; know when He wants to admonish, correct, teach, encourage, comfort, brag on us; know if He wants to hold us... it's called intimacy - absolute and ultimate oneness! It's all BY the Holy Spirit.

We — God and I — have the same Spirit! You — that is, God and you — have the same Spirit!

That's oneness !!!

When we KNOW God like that, Jesus' prayer has been answered, "Holy Father, keep in Your name (in the knowledge of Yourself) them whom You have given Me, that they may be one, as We are one... You, Father, are in Me and I in You."

That's Covenant talk!

verily swear by the greater: and an oath for confirmation is to them an end of all strife. Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel confirmed it by an oath: that by two immutable things in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us: which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil... The Holy Spirit, my Covenant Attorney, is watching over Father's "will" to be sure it's carried out and performed -- every jot and tittle.

He is the Administrator of Father's "will" -- that's what 1 Corinthians 12 is all about,

and Ephesians 3:20, and Acts 1:8, and Mark 16:15-20, and John 14, 15, 16, and 17, etc...

God said, "My people . . ." Hosea 4:1, 6, 10; 6:6 KJV

"Hear the word of the Lord, ye children of Israel: for the Lord hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land,

because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land.

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge,

I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God,

I will also forget thy children.

. . . because they have left off to take heed to the Lord.

For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings."

[I looked up every Hebrew verb and noun in the above verses in Strong's Exhaustive Concordance, tracing each one back to the primary root word. The following is the result of that study:]

Hear, consent to, and obey the spoken word, counsel, and purpose of the Lord, all of you that are in Covenant with Him,

for the Lord has a bone to pick with those who dwell in and establish the land and the way, because there is

no stability, certainty, trustworthiness, and truth of God, no favor, goodness, loving-kindness, and mercy of God, and

no knowing by really seeing, that is, no intimacy with God in the land and in the way.

My people, tribe, flock—those I overshadow— are cut down and brought to silence for failing to really see into Me—for lack of intimacy with Me:

because My people have spurned, despised, and rejected intimacy with Me, I will also abhor, cast off, and loathe you,

that you shall not mediate to Me or officiate in the priest's office: because you have been oblivious of My statutes that teach and point you in the right direction,

I will also be oblivious of your offspring and everything you set your hand to.

. . . they have refused to guard, protect, attend to, regard, and take heed to the Lord.

For I am pleased with kindness, goodness, and favor-the giving of your whole self...24/7 and not the life of an animal to take your place;

and I am pleased with your intimacy with Me—our absolute Covenant oneness— more than anything you could try to lift up toward Me.

I want you in My secret place—not a lot of smoke in My face!"

The positive of Hosea 4:6 would read . . . "When My flock know My truth, know My mercy, and are intimate with Me, they are no longer

destroyed, failing, perishing, ceasing, cut down, cut off, brought to silence, and undone!"

And now, brethren,

I commend you to God,

and

to THE WORD of His grace,

which IS ABLE to build you up,

and TO GIVE YOU

AN INHERITANCE

among all them which are sanctified.

Acts 20:32
