Description:
Most non-believers see Christianity as a burdensome religion, leaving its people bound with rules and regulations. And for good reason. Throughout the Bible, God gives extensive commands for His people to follow. And often times, it's these rules that many people use as their proof that God is a punishing taskmaster. So how do we reconcile the freedom that Jesus promises, with a God who seems to say 'No' so much? In part two of our conversation, This Is Your Permission Slip, we explore the deeper response God gives when He commands 'Thou shalt not' and what this reveals about His heart for us. ‘When Silas and Timothy and I proclaimed the Son of God among you, did you pick up on any yes-and-no, on-again, off-again waffling? Wasn’t it a clean, strong Yes? Whatever God has promised gets stamped with the Yes of Jesus.’

‘Then Moses went up to God, and the Lord called to him from the mountain and said, “This is what you are to say to the descendants of Jacob and what you are to tell the people of Israel: ‘You yourselves have seen what I did to Egypt, and how I carried you on eagles’ wings and brought you to myself. Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession. Although the whole earth is mine, you will be for me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words you are to speak to the Israelites.” ... God spoke all these words: I am God, your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of a life of slavery.’
