Obeying the Gospel

Obedience• ὑπακοή , (hypakon - noun),

ὑπακούω (hypakou – verb) “a state of being in compliance”“to follow instructions” (BDAG)

• WE understand what obedience is – you do (or don’t do) what you are told, the way you are told and to the degree you are told.

• Believe – John 3:16, Romans 10:9-10, Mark 16:16

• Repent - Acts 2:38, 3:19, Luke 13:3, 5

• Confess Jesus – Matthew 10:32,33; Romans 10:9-10

• Be baptized – Mark 16:16, Acts 2:38, 22:16, 1 Peter 3:20-21, etc.

• It is NOT meritorious works (earned) – Ephesians 2:9, Romans 11:6

Obeying the Gospel - faithfulness• Obeying the gospel does not end

when one becomes a Christian. It continues AS a Christian!

• A disciple will observe (obey) all things – Matthew 28:20

•2 Corinthians 10:4-6, bringing every thought into the obedience of Christ

•1 Peter 1:13-16, as obedient children…be holy

• Abiding in Him

• We live for Him and keep His word – John 8:31-32

•John 14:15, 23-24 “if anyone loves Me he will keep (obey) My word…”

• One who can be counted upon to obey. Loyal and trusted

required of stewards that one be found faithful.”
