Isaac grew up and married
Rebekah and had their two
sons named Esau and
Jacob. Jacob married Lea
and Rachel and had 12
sons with Joseph as his
most favorite.
He was then sold to
Portiphar, the
captain of the
Pharaoh’s guard. He
worked so hard
that’s why he was
appointed as one of
the officials in Egypt.
Seven fat cows were eaten by seven thin and ugly
cows. Seven ears of grain full and good were
swallowed up by seven thin ears of grain.
He treated his brothers harshly to see
if they have changed and upon
proving that they do, he forgave them.
He forgave them for
their cruelty and
shared with them
his blessings. The
pharaoh gave them
riches and they
lived together in
Egypt.
God chose Joseph to dream of a good life for the Israelites and to rescue them from their unfortunate situation. It represents the “promise” which is one of the key words of love.
The “promise” of salvation is as important for us today as it was for the Israelites because
salvation is not a thing, material gift, but the living,
transforming presence of God within us.
