You will need your ID number or policy number.

Once your membership has been verified, the full details of your emergency will be taken and the relevant service will

be provided.

Terms and conditions:

Your policy must be fully paid up at the time of the incident.

When requiring emergency assistance, please follow the correct process and call the Oakhurst number 0861 001 041.

There will unfortunately be no reimbursements for costs incurred if you have not followed the correct process.

Please note that in order for you to qualify for the benefits in this brochure relating to:

• insured vehicles, you need to have an active comprehensive vehicle policy with us; and

• homes, you need to have an active household contents policy with us.

Roadside Emergency BenefitsRoadside Emergency BenefitsShould these benefits be included in your vehicle insurance policy schedule, you qualify for the benefits provided for under this section.

We have a team of qualified call centre professionals standing by to assist you at home, or on the road, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Towing Services

Where your insured vehicle is not drivable due to the happening of an event which is covered by your insurance policy (an “insured event”), you can contact our emergency line for assistance.

Should an insured event or breakdown occur outside the borders of South Africa, Lesotho or Swaziland but within Botswana, Mozambique or Namibia, you will be responsible for all costs to get your insured vehicle over the border and into South Africa. Once the vehicle is inside the South African border, we will assist you as described below under the relevant benefit.

• Insured event towing We will arrange the towing of your vehicle to the nearest approved panel beater. This service is limited to 1 tow per insured event. We will send a vehicle to drive you, 3 passengers and your luggage, to a place of safety or home, as determined by you. Your destination must be within a maximum of 100 km from the incident. If there are more passengers, we can arrange a more suitable vehicle, but the additional cost will be for your own account. Transport will be provided on a best effort service time basis.

If your vehicle has been stolen and then recovered, we will provide assistance in towing your vehicle once it has been released to you by the authorities.

• 2nd Tow Should you not have contacted our emergency line for assistance after an insured event, and a towing operator has moved your insured vehicle to the incorrect panel beater, we will cover the 2nd tow to move your vehicle to one of our closest approved panel beaters. Release fees and costs associated with the 1st tow will only be covered up to a maximum of R1 000 for towing and R500 for storage provided that you have a valid claim under your vehicle insurance policy. Any further costs will be for your own account. It is therefore advisable that you familiarise yourself with the procedures and emergency number.

• Breakdown assistance & towing We will arrange for the towing of your vehicle to the nearest approved dealer or workshop or, at your request, to your residence, whichever is closer. This service is limited to 1 tow per incident. Any costs for repairs which is payable to the dealership or workshop will be for your own account.

In the event that your insured vehicle is under a dealer’s warranty, we will arrange for your vehicle to be towed by the dealer or by one of our service providers, to the nearest manufacturer approved workshop or motor dealer. If the manufacturer later deems that the fault is not covered under the warranty and subsequently charges you for the tow, we will refund the full amount of the towing invoice.

• Additional breakdown services We will send a vehicle to drive you, 3 passengers and your luggage, to a place of safety or home, as determined by you. Your destination must be within a maximum of 100 km from the incident. If there are more passengers, we can arrange a more suitable vehicle, but the additional cost will be for your own account. Transport will be provided on a best effort service time basis.

Where a breakdown occurs more than 100 km from your destination or home, whichever is the end destination, we will arrange the following additional services for you:

• Car hire assistance (Group A or B) for 24 hours only. A maximum limit of up to R500 will be paid towards the invoice for rental charges, delivery and collection of the hire vehicle, and the first tank of fuel. You will be required to provide a credit card. The service includes the costs of the daily car rental, unlimited kilometre allowance, insurance fees and the delivery or collection charges of the vehicle to a maximum of 25 km respectively. The cost of fuel will be for your account. OR • Hotel accommodation for 1 night only This benefit excludes the cost of any meals, drinks or additional costs associated with the overnight stay. A maximum limit of up to R500 will be refunded towards the invoice. AND • Return of your vehicle A maximum limit of up to R500 will be paid towards 24 hour Group A or B car rental, a bus ticket or a flight ticket to enable you to collect your vehicle from the approved dealer to which it was towed. Alternatively, a maximum limit of R500 will be paid towards the invoice of returning your vehicle to your home or a place of your choosing, whichever is closer. We reserve the right to elect the most appropriate method from the above.

• Towing caravans and trailers If we arrange for the towing of your insured vehicle due to an insured event or breakdown while you have a caravan or trailer attached, your caravan or trailer will be towed along with your vehicle to the same end destination.

Roadside Emergency Benefits (cont.)Roadside Emergency Benefits (cont.)Hijacking AssistanceWe understand that a hijacking of your insured vehicle can be a stressful situation, so we will be here in your time of need by sending a vehicle to drive you, 3 passengers and your luggage, to a place of safety or home, as determined by you. Your destination must be within a maximum of 100 km from the incident. If there are more passengers, we can arrange a more suitable vehicle and the additional cost will be for your own account. Transport will be provided on a best effort service time basis.

Additional Roadside Emergency BenefitsThe following benefits cover the call out fee plus 1 hour’s labour to resolve the emergency. Any cost of repairs, replacements or further labour will be for your own account. If towing is required, the tow will be deemed a breakdown tow and the terms and conditions of breakdown towing and additional services will apply.

• Locksmith assistance - In the event that your keys are locked inside your insured vehicle or a key is broken in the ignition or lock, we will send out a locksmith to resolve the issue, failing which we will tow your vehicle. Where your keys are lost or stolen, we will tow your insured vehicle to the nearest approved dealer. The cover excludes the replacement of the key, immobiliser or key transponder, as well as assistance with faulty, damaged or stuck gear locks. • Flat battery assistance - In the event of a flat battery in your insured vehicle, we will send out a service provider to assist in jumpstarting your battery, failing which we will tow your insured vehicle to the nearest approved dealer or workshop. This benefit excludes battery replacement or any of its parts. • Flat tyre assistance - In the event of a flat tyre on your insured vehicle, we will send out a service provider to assist you in changing the tyre. If a spare tyre is unavailable or more than 1 tyre is damaged or flat, we will tow your insured vehicle to the nearest approved dealer or workshop. This benefit excludes tyre or wheel replacement or any of their parts. • Fuel assistance - In the event of your insured vehicle running out of fuel, we will send out a service provider to bring you fuel (the first 5 litres will be covered, the rest will be for your own account). Arrangements must be made between the service provider and you regarding payment for the fuel, preferably cash on assistance.

Transmission of Urgent Message(s)In the event of a roadside emergency, we can assist by letting your loved ones know what has happened. Urgent messages will be sent by SMS or telephonically to anyone nominated by you. We will use our best efforts to ensure your messages are delivered.

Toll feesToll fees are not included in Roadside Emergency Benefits and are for your own account.

Medical Emergency BenefitsMedical Emergency BenefitsAs determined by the terms and conditions of your insurance policy and if these benefits are included in your vehicle or household contents insurance policy schedule, you qualify for the benefits provided for under this section.

In the event of a medical emergency, we will assist you with a team of qualified call centre professionals 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Medical assistance is limited to incidents occurring within the borders of South Africa. Cover applies to the driver and 3 passengers.

Medical Response and Transportation

• Medical response In the event of a medical emergency, we will arrange for immediate medical response to the scene of an incident by a private or provincial service provider, depending on availability.

• Medical transportation In the event of such an incident, we will provide emergency medical transportation from the scene of the incident to the closest, most appropriate facility for further medical care. This appropriate facility is determined by the highest qualified paramedic at the scene of the medical emergency.

Should the treating Advanced Life Support Paramedic at the scene of the incident advise that you must be transported by air, we will provide you with 1 emergency flight per year. Airlifts are limited to R50 000 per year.

• Crisis Line In addition to the above benefits, medical operators will guide you through a medical emergency situation involving the insured. You will receive advice or have the necessary support organised, by utilising our 24-hour Contact Centre Doctor.

This service provides access to the following: • Poison hotline • Suicide hotline • Rape and HIV counselling • Family and domestic abuse advice • Child abuse advice • Bereavement counselling • 24 Hour telephonic referral We can provide you with a list of medical practitioners, medical facilities and counsellors in your area. All costs arising from their services will be for your own account.

Transmission of Urgent Message(s)In the event of a medical emergency, we can assist by letting your loved ones know what has happened. Urgent messages will be sent by SMS or telephonically to anyone nominated by you. We will use our best efforts to ensure your messages are delivered.

Household Emergency Benefits Household Emergency Benefits As determined by the terms and conditions of your insurance policy and if these benefits are included in your vehicle or household contents insurance policy schedule, you qualify for the benefits provided for under this section.

These benefits are limited to the inside of your home (defined in your household contents policy) only and excludes buildings or outbuildings on the grounds of your property. The cover under this benefit includes the call out fee plus 1 hour’s labour for the initial emergency only.

Any cost for the replacement of parts and further labour will be for your own account. These benefits are limited to homes within the borders of South Africa.

• Plumber assistance

In the event of a plumbing emergency at your home, we will send out a plumber to assist you. A plumbing emergency is defined as an interruption to the flow of water to your home, or parts thereof, caused by unforeseen internal household faults, or burst pipes, geysers or other appliances where the flow of water cannot be stopped without the assistance of a plumber. Leaking taps are not included.

• Electrician assistance

In the event of an electrical emergency within your home, we will send out an electrician to assist you. An electrical emergency is defined as an interruption to the electricity supply to your home, or parts thereof, caused by unforeseen household electrical faults.

• Appliance assistance

In the event of a faulty household appliance, we will send out a service provider to assist you. This is limited to geysers, washing machines, stoves, fridges, freezers, microwaves, tumble dryers, and dishwashers. Please note that the appliance may have to be removed from your home for the repairs.

In the event of damage to the glass of the external windows of your home, we will send out a glazier to assist you. Glass tables or internal glass doors or windows are excluded. The cost of any repairs and replacement of windows will be for your own account.

• Locksmith assistance

When you have locked your keys inside your home, broken your key in a lock of an external door that permits access to your home or you have locked yourself inside your home, we will send out a locksmith to assist you. The cost of any replacement of locks or keys for whatever reason will be for your own account. Lost and stolen keys are excluded.

• Referral services

Where any of the following services are required, we can provide you with a list of service providers in your area, with all costs arising from engaging their services being for your own account:

• Builders • Painters • Pool repairers • Carpet specialists • Gate motors • Security systems

Legal Emergency Benefits Legal Emergency Benefits As determined by the terms and conditions of your insurance policy and if these benefits are included in your vehicle or household contents insurance policy schedule, you qualify for the benefits provided for under this section.

We have a panel of qualified attorneys available to you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to provide you with legal advice and support on South African legal issues. This benefit is limited to personal legal matters and excludes business related issues. All legal fees, over and above the benefits provided below, will be for your own account.

• Telephonic legal advice and referral

In the event that you need legal advice, you may log a call with us and we will arrange for one of our qualified attorneys to call you back.

• Face to face consultations

Where you have been referred to an attorney on our panel, you will benefit from two 30 minute face to face consultations per related incident. Any further consultations and all related costs will be for your own account.

• Legal documentation

Should you require assistance with legal documentation, a telephonic guidance service is provided by our panel of qualified attorneys. Advice can be given on the circumstances under which documentation may be required and the structure and content of the documentation. Templates can also be provided via fax or email.

We will arrange for assistance with documents such as purchase or sale agreements, lease agreements, power-of-attorneys, wills, domestic employment agreements and ante-nuptial agreements (excluding the actual registration and notarisation of the ante-nuptial agreement). You will also be advised on the application of each of these documents and the procedures or principles that may apply.

Where you require a letter of demand, a lawyer or consultant will write this letter on your behalf. This benefit is limited to one letter per event.

Should these benefits be included in your vehicle insurance policy schedule or combined vehicle and household contents insurance policy schedule with us, you qualify for the benefits provided for under this section.

We have teamed up with Road Protect (Pty) Ltd, to offer you Fines Protect, License Protect, Pothole Protect and Accident Protect as part of your Gold Club benefits package.

For assistance from Road Protect, simply call 0861 001 008 during office hours (8am to 5pm during weekdays and 8:30am to 1pm Saturdays).

Once your Gold Club membership has been verified, you will be given a case number and referred to a Road Protect Agent for assistance and assessment.

Fines Protect will work with you to notify you of all fines and then provide a quick, easy and painless channel to get these fines paid, with the added benefit of negotiating fine reductions on your behalf.

License Protect will notify you of any impending vehicle registration or driver’s license renewals and provide a timely, easy and painless channel to get these licenses renewed and delivered to you.

Pothole Protect assists you in recovering up to 100% of the money that you have paid out as a result of pothole damages to your tyres, mags and rims.

Accident Protect provides victims of motor vehicle accidents in South Africa with immediate access to an effective RoadAccident Fund (RAF) claims management system that manages your claim from start to finish.

This benefit is for the member only, and is limited to fines related to or imposed while driving the insured vehicle.

To take advantage of this benefit, please send a scanned copy of your ID to [email protected] or fax it to 086 500 2217 so that Fines Protect can register you on their fines monitoring systems.

The problem:

Most road users have had a traffic fine for a minor road indiscretion at some stage or another, yet often these are not paid up which can lead to increased penalties or even legal action. The problem is that we are not always aware that we have been given a fine and when we do receive one, we are not always sure that these fines have been issued legitimately. It is also often an expensive and timely exercise to check, verify and pursue any action to get fines removed or reduced and paid.

What we offer:

Using a copy of your ID, Fines Protect checks the traffic fines database against any outstanding fines in your name, such as fines for speeding, late licence renewals and parking fines. They will then contact you if they identify any such fines.If you have any handwritten fines, you can scan and email them to Fines Protect along with a copy of your ID to [email protected] or fax it to 086 500 2217.Fines Protect will collect supporting documents such as a statement of the incident, a copy of the fine as well as a copy of your driver’s license.Fines Protect will present the merits of the fine, including any arguments against the fine, to the relevant traffic department and will pass back any recovery or discount to you.They will also provide you with an invoice for fines payments. The Fines Protect service is limited to traffic fines issued within the Republic of South Africa.

Fines are said to be ‘issued’ once they are posted onto www.paycity.co.za or www.viewfines.co.za and therefore Fines Protect can only check and notify clients of fines that are posted onto these websites. Other fines that are not posted onto these websites can be dealt with by Fines Protect, but Fines Protect must be notified of these by you before service can commence.

At the time of the fine, you must comply with all the legal and regulatory requirements of the laws governing the roads of South Africa and other such relevant legislation.

Fines Protect does not guarantee the performance of the Traffic Department nor the reductions of fines.

This service does not include AARTO de-merit points reductions.

This service is limited to irreparable tyre damage and repairable/irreparable damage to mags and wheel rims on the insured vehicle as a result of a pothole or road works on a road within the borders of the Republic of South Africa.

No service will be provided: • if you have already claimed or are in the process of claiming for the damage from us; • if the incident is not reported to Pothole Protect within 5 working days of the incident; or • if the Pothole Protect assessor advises that you should not proceed with your claim based on the merits of your case. If you do not agree, or there is material conflict between your assessment and that of the assessor, the case will then be referred to the Pothole Protect Advisory Panel. The decision of the Pothole Protect Advisory Panel will be final and binding on all the parties. The Pothole Protect Advisory Panel will consist of an admitted attorney as well as a tyre expert from a leading tyre retailer. Pothole Protect will not be responsible for any costs incurred in referring your case to the Panel. You are at all times free to get outside 2nd opinions as well as external legal advice and representations, but the costs of these will not be borne by us or Pothole Protect, unless they have agreed to these in writing.

At the time of the incident, you must have complied with all the legal and regulatory requirements of the laws governing the roads of South Africa and other such relevant legislation.

The Accident Protect service is only available for accidents that occur within the Republic of South Africa.

Accident Protect limits their service where their legal practitioner advises that you should not proceed with your claim based on the merits of your case and taking into account the rules of the RAF. If this is in conflict with your view or there is a material conflict between your assessment and their legal practitioner’s assessment, the case will be referred to the Accident Protect Advisory Panel for review. The decision of the Accident Protect Advisory Panel will be final and binding on all the parties. The Accident Protect Advisory Panel will consist of the Accident Protect legal advisor and 2 external independent legal advisors. Accident Protect will not be responsible for any costs incurred in referring your case to the Panel.

You are at all times free to get outside 2nd opinions but the cost of these will not be borne by Accident Protect unless approved in writing.

You are not obliged to use the services of Accident Protect in the event of which Accident Protect will not be liable for any costs incurred by you.

At the time of the accident, you must have complied with all the legal and regulatory requirements of the Acts governing the RAF.

As the RAF is an independent party, Accident Protect cannot guarantee performance by the RAF.

Accident Protect will guide and support you with your RAF claim but will not assist with:• claims against any other parties; • claims that are not covered by the RAF; or• claims above any limitations prescribed by the RAF Act.
