BDE Half Way There Celebration

GOLDE N DRA GONS

Come on out and celebrate the halfway mark of the deployment at the Half-Way Celebration on Sills Field, 6 JAN 2010

from 1530-1900. It's a chance to mark this important milestone and reenergize positive momentum. The Holidays were

likely tough for everyone, but it's a new year and we're halfway done with the deployment. Let's take this opportunity to

celebrate all we've accomplished and readdress the goals we set for ourselves at the beginning of the deployment.

One of the goals of this event is to show our love for our Soldiers. To do this, we ask you to take part in a special photo

on Sills Field. Help us form a heart around the 25th ID patch made out of Family Members which will serve as a special

Valentine's Day gift for the Brigade. We're also going to have supplies on hand to make Valentine's Day Banners for the

units that we'll send downrange.

We're happy to announce the MWR's Biggest Loser Contest 2011 starts in January. Our celebration will serve as their

kick-off event and they'll be present with personal trainers and staff to sign you up into the program. Feel free to wear

comfortable work out type clothes as they'll be showing us some moves with their Aerobics Instructors. We've got activi-

ties scheduled for kids and some announcements from Blue Star Card on some exciting upcoming events. (Pro-Bowl,

Big R Night). We'll be taking photos and shout-outs to send to our Troops. We'll also hear about our Stryker Brigade

Memorial Association and some of its planned fundraising events designed to memorialize our Fallen Soldiers. We'll end

the evening with a special candle-light vigil. As the sun goes down, we'll hope and pray for the speedy safe return of our

Loved Ones. You bring the picnic and a blanket, we'll supply the fun! That doesn't preclude y'all from doing your own

potlucks or whatever you like in your BN tents. The Fee to participate in MWR's Biggest Loser Contest is $15, however,

the special Blue Star Card Holder price is $10.00. The celebration, however, is FREE!!! We hope to see you there.

FREE EVENING BOAT TOURS:

The U.S. Navy and National Park Service will be offering free evening boat tours of

Pearl Harbor that are open to the public on December 17-19, 2010. The tours will leave

from and return to the USS Arizona Memorial Visitor Center on a first-come, first-

served basis on December 18-20 from 6:00 through 8:15 P.M. The 30-minute tours will

feature Christmas music and the boats will pass through the harbor where the ships are

decorated for the Christmas season. This is a great opportunity for kids and adults to

see warships and submarines up close while aboard a 150 passenger tour boat. Tickets

and parking are available each evening starting at 5:15 P.M. at the USS Arizona Memo-

rial Visitor Center, which is located off of Kamehameha Highway near Richardson

Field and the Aloha Stadium. Due to enhanced security measures, handbags, purses,

packs and other items that can conceal weapons, are not allowed in the visitor center or

aboard the tour boats. Do not leave valuables in your car. Since it can become chilly, a

light jacket or sweater is recommended. This is a joint community service endeavor

with the U.S. Navy, National Park Service and volunteer support from the Pearl City

Lions Club.
