Phonics: Warm Up
• Practise your Phase 2 and Phase 3 sounds! You can use...:
• Your flash cards
• The ‘Flash Cards’ game on Phonics Play
• The photos onTapestry
• 'Flash Cards Time Trial' Game on Phonics Bloom which is also free!
It is important to keep practising them daily, so keep up the good work! Don't forget to practise your tricky words too!
Phonics: Introducing Phase 4!
This week we are introducing Phase 4 in Phonics! In this phase we will
not learn any new sounds. Instead we will be reading and writing some
trickier words using the sounds we know.
These words will have 2 or more consonants together, either at the start of
the word, such as star and spot, or at the end of a word, such as milk and
nest.
They are a little bit harder to sound out, so that is why we spend a few weeks
just on these types of words!
Phonics: Main Activity
Today we will practise reading some of these longer words.
Have a go at Buried Treasure on Phonics Play. Select Phase 4, then
CVCC words Set 1-7.

Phonics: Main Activity
Our other Phonics challenge for today is to practise writing some of our tricky words! See if
you can write these words in different ways around your house. You could do rainbow letters,
write them with water and a paintbrush on the pavement, or use a grown up's biro pen and do
your best writing!
If a grown up covers up the words, can you remember how to write each one?
Remember these are tricky words so we cannot sound them out!
Maths: 2D Shape! This week we will be learning all about 2D shapes! We will be focusing on the properties of 2D shapes and sorting them in different ways.
Maths: Main ActivityYour challenge today is to be shape detectives and go on a shape hunt around your home!
Remember we are looking for flat 2D shapes today! Don't worry about finding one of every shape, the discussion and exploration is the most important part! There are some examples on the next page.
You could tick off or draw the ones you find- we will upload a PDF of a shape hunt sheet if you would like to print it off (do not worry about doing a tally!), or you could make your own.
If you find any handy small shapes, keep hold of them for the extra challenge...
Maths: Shape Hunt!
Here are some examples of the 2D shapes which Miss Curd and Miss Ellis found in their homes....
Can you name the shapes we found?
Maths: Extra Challenge!
Collect together any small shapes you found around your home, such as circle buttons, square coasters, rectangular rulers.
Can you use them to make a shape monster, person or creature?
You could draw around them, or put them together and take a photo!
You may need to make additional shapes from paper for teeth and eyes!
The Number Fairy!
When Miss Ellis turned her computer on yesterday, she was very surprised to
find the Number Fairy had returned and left another special message for
Reception! The Number Fairy left some fun games
and challenges all about the number 16!
Can you try to work through these at
home?

Supertato!
Well done Reception! Those super Evil Pea 'Wanted' posters you made have worked!
This morning Miss Ellis found a message from Supertato to the Evil Pea which said 'Got you!' and discovered some Evil Peas trapped in some jelly!
Supertato must have caught him- hooray!
Challenge-Writing a speech bubble
What do you think the Evil Pea would have said to Supertatowhen he got caught? Write your idea in the speech bubble.
Supertato still needs your help!
Now that the Evil Pea has been captured, we hope that he won't get up to any more mischief in Miss Ellis's kitchen at least- however there are lots of Evil Peas amongst the tasty ones, so make sure you keep an eye out for them!
Supertato still needs your help Reception!
He has sent you a letter (on the next slide).
Can you tell a grown up with you think he should do?
Extra challenge: Write a reply to Supertato's letter!

Pepper Lane
Vegetableville
Wednesday 13th May 2020
Dear Reception,
Thanks to your fantastic posters you made, vegetables from all over the
country have been contacting me with sightings of the Evil Pea.
Mr Pepper, from Miss Ellis’ fridge, saw your posters she had printed out,
and told me that every night, at 11pm, he causes trouble in Miss Ellis’s
kitchen. Last night I decided to hide in Miss Ellis’s kitchen, and set up a
jelly trap to try and capture him. He fell for it! We trapped him and some
of his Evil Pea friends in the jelly. He was very cross!
The trouble is that I’m not sure what to do with him now. I have put a
lid on the pot to keep him trapped, but he can’t stay in there forever-
he’s starting to eat the jelly!
Please help Reception! What do you think I should do with the Evil Pea
next?
Love from,
Supertato

What is the same?
Have a wonderful day!
