    What You Should Know

about the Passover andFestival of Unleavened Bread

    by Herbert Trl'". Armstron s

C REATION is the proof of the existence of God. Creat ion iden tifies God. The Sabbath is a weekly

memorial of creation. A weekly reminder of God's power to create. Therefore it identifies God to u skeeps us in the true memory and trueworship of the true God. No other daybu t the SEVENTH DAY OF THE WEEKcould have that g rea t significance andMEANING. It was designed to keep usin the true worsh ip of God.

    Th e Purpose of Holydays

Now in like manner, God gave HisChurch seven Cl1l1111al Sabbaths. Theseholy days were g iven co keep God'schildren in the true memory and wor

sh ip of God by ['ccping lI S COliJttltltly inthe nnder st anding of God's gredt plauof redempt ion. For these annual daysp icture the d ifferent epochs in the Planof redemption-mark the dispensations, and pic ture their meaning.

The whole story of the redemption ofman was, in these feast days, to be reenacted year after year continually. Theyhave vitally impor tant symbolism andmeaning.

God purposed to impress the t ru thsthese "high" Sabbaths p icture upon theminds of His children through ALL

time, keeping His Church in the trueunderstanding of HIS PLAN.

1.The PASSOVER, an d Days of

    UNLEAVENED BREAD

Most churches teach that Christ jin-isbcd the Plan of Redemption on theCross. But the very FIRST event inGod's great PLAN for man's redemptionwas the dea th of Chr is t on the cross. Wefind the operation of this great Sacrificebeginning in Eden, when God killed alamb or goat, in order to COVER thenakedness (type of sin) of Adam andEve with skins. We find it oper at ingwhen Abel sacrificed a substitute lamb. And so the PASSOVER is the FIRST of

these events picturing to God's childrenyear by year Hi s great PLAN.Let us under stand it.Egypt is a type of SIN. As God's

people Israel are today in "BABYLON,"and soon are to be delivered after Godpours out H is PLAGUES upon Babylon,so rhey once were in Egypt, and weredelivered af ter the pouring ou t of theplagues.

And, as Rome has changed t imes andseasons and days, professing Christianshave been deceived, and have lost sigh tof true TIME, and God's DAYS, as well

as the true WORSHIP of God. So it waswith the chi ld ren of Israel in Egypt.

For years they had been in severeBONDAGE in Egypt-forced to workwith task-masters over them. There wasno Bible-no written Word of God.They were not permitted to worshipGod as He had ordained. They wereforced to work seven days a week. Theyhad lost sight even of the true Sabbath- a n d that is why God REVEALED tothem the Sabbath in the wilderness ofSin (Ex. 16). Just as Rome has changedtimes and seasons, so had Egypt.

    Passover Only th e Start

And so, on delivering His peoplefrom Egypt (sin), God straightened

them out as to TIME. And, as the BEGINNING of our salvation was wroughtby Christ's death on the cross, so Godsaid, "THIS month (i n the Spring) shallbe unto you the BEGINNING of months."(Ex. 12:2.)Some few keep the BEGINNING of

this first feast of salvation in observingPassover, bu t never go on to know the"depth of the rlcbes" of God's gracepictured by the [ollotcing [casts! Christis not only the author, or beginner, butthe FINISHER of our salvation!

On the tenth day of this first month

the Israelites were inst ruct ed to take alamb wi thout blemish. They kept itUNTIL-not af ter- the 14th day of thesame first month, AT EVEN, at DUSK asth e Jewish t ransla tion has i t -betweenthe two evenings, or between sunset anddark, when it was kil led.

This was IN, no t AFTER the 14thday. They shed the blood of the lamb, picturing Christ's sacrifice to come. Theyate the flesh IN THAT NIGHT. At midnight the death-angel came, bu t PASSEDOVER every house where the BLOOD hadbeen sprinkled.

There are some l ' e ry int port an: detail: it is vital that we notice at thispoint. Perhaps we have not seen thembefore. I t proves that the Passover shallbe observed the 14th, no t the 15th.

    Passover 14th, Not 15thNotice Exodus 12. Verse 6, they shal l

kill the lamb AT DUSK (Jewish officialtranslation). Verse 8, they shall eat th eflesh in tbat nigbt-st i l l the 14th. Verses9-11 continue to describe how it shallbe roasted and eaten - the TIME is stil lthe same n igh t - t h e 14th. Verse 12:"For I will pass through the land ofEgypt this night, and will smi te all thetirstborn"-stiU same night-14th.

Now notice carefully th e paragraphbeginning verse 21. Here are more detailed direc tions for striking the bloodon the door-pasts-the TIME this wasdone, as proved above, was the nightpart of the 14th. Notice carefully verse22: "st ike the lintel and the two sideposts with the blood that is in the basin;and NONE OF YOU SHALL GO OUT AT

THE DOOR OF HIS HOUSE UNTIL 1'HEMORNING." Notice that carefully! NONEwere permitted to leave their housesthat night. They remained IN theirhouses UNTIL MORNING! They remainedthere all night!

Now read on. Verse 29, at midnight(the 14th) the Lord smote the firsthorn of Egypt. Verse 30, Pharaoh roseup in the night . This was of course afterthe dea th angel passed at midnight, andtherefore after midnight.

He called for Moses and Aaron. Thismust have t aken some t ime , bu t sti ll thesame nigh t. Ve rse 33, the Egypt ian people were urgent to get rid of the Israelites. Verse 35, the Israe li tes borrowed ofthe Egypti;ll1s silver and gold and clothing, and spoi led the Egypti ans. When'Surely this borrowing and spoiling ofthe Egypt ians took seve ral hours. TheIsraelites were f orbi dden to LEAVETHE IR HOUSES UNTIL MORNING-SOthis spo il ing and bor rowing tooi: placetf;lOlfgh the DAYTIME of the 14th day.

    Tbe GOOD NEWS

NIGHT-tht: 15th NiJan! Notice theparagraph composed of verses 40-42. . ."Even the se lfsame day it came to pass,t ha t all the hosts of the Lord WENT OUTfrom the land of Egypt. It is a NIGHTto be much observed unto the Lord forbringing them out of the land of Egypt:1'HIS IS THE NIGHT of the Lord to beobserved." Which is the NIGHT to beobserved? The NIGH1' they came ou tof Egypt . They went OUT of Egypt , notduring the daytime the 14th, but aftertha t day had ENDED--after the sun hads e t - the following NIGH1'--on t he 1 5t hAbib! And THAT n ight , the 15t h, is tobe observed!

The following verses, beginning verse43, form a new paragraph , and referagain to PASSOVER-the 14th day.

Now, notice Deut. 16: 1. "Observe themonth of Abib, and ke ep the passoverunto th e eternal thy God: for in themonth of Abib the Lord thy Godbrought thee forth out of Egypt BY

NIGHT." Notice it, they did no t GO OUTof Egypt , until NIGHT. And this nightwas the Dth, no t the 14th. Furtherproof?

Notice now Numbers 33:3. "And theyDEPARTED from Rameses in the firsrmonth, ON THE FIFTEENTH DAY OFTHE FIRS1' MONTH; ON THE MORROWAFTER THE PASSOVER the children ofIsrael went out with an h ig h h an d illthe sight of all the Egyptians."

There ir is, in plain language. Now some bel ieve that they ki ll ed

the l amb be tween noon and sunset the14th-about 3 P.M., near the END ofthe day-ate it that ni ght, the 15th(claiming that is when the Passover waseaten and when we should take it today) 'and th en wen t on Out of Egypt1'HA1' SAME NIGH1'. Bu t this theory willno t hold water, in view of ALL theseScriptures, and following through Exodus 12.

Th e Israelites were no t permi tt ed toleave their homes t ha t n igh t after eatingthe lamb. They remained in their ownhouses-up in the land of G o s h e n - u ~til daylight. Then they went to theirEgyptian neighbors, and borrowed f r o ~them and spoiled them. There were millions of them. It took TIME to notify

them. Ir rook' l ' IMH

    to do all this.I t

could not have been done after midnight, when Pharaoh rose up, and .stillhave gotten ou t of Egypt the same night .The Israe li tes were in t he ir own housesin Goshen ALL T'-IA1' NIGHT. Exodus12: 10 further proves this. Whatever rema ined of their roasted l amb uneat enUN1'IL MORNING they were to burnwith fire. That shows they stayed intheir homes UN1'IL MORNING.

They did no t LEAVE Egypt until aftertha t day ended-after night fall again, during the NIGHTpart of the FIFTEENTH.

    April, 1 9 ; ~

    In , Nut After, 14th:

Now to connect one other vital point ,turn to Numbers 28: 16-17. "IN thefourteenth day (not AFTER it ) is thePASSOVER of the Lord. And IN the FIFTEEN1'H day (not BEFORE it) of thismonth is 1'HE FEAST: seven days shallunleavened bread be eaten."

Lev. 23:5-6 says the same thing . Notice the PASSOVER is not the 15th, bu tIN the 14th. IN it is no t after it ispast. And notice, too, the FEAST ment ioned here is no t the 14t h (though thepassover is elsewhere called a feast), bu tthe FEAST DAY is the 15th. Th e SEVENDAY period begins the l Sth. The 15this the FIRS1' of the seven days of unleavened bread.

However. since leaven was pu t ou t of(he houses during the 14th day, it c ameto be called one of the days of unleavened bread by New Testament times, ~ u twhen this is done EIGHT DAYS are I n -cluded as days of unleavened bread. Th eentire EIGHT DAY period is, in NewTestament usage, called by the name"PASSOVER."

Bu t the SEVEN DAY period begins the15th, after the 14th, or Passover, hasended.

Th e l-ith day is the Passover. I t is thefirst of God's festivals. I t is NOT theFEAS1' DAY mentioned here. In the FIFTEENTH day is the FEAST. Let us ge tthat dis ti nc ti on cl ea rly in mind . It isthe FIFTEENTH that is the FEAS1 '- the14th is the PASSOVER. This FEAST daybegins after PASSOVER has e n d ~ d ..

Now with these facts well In mind, let us turn back to Exodus 12. Not icebeginniug verse 14. "And TH.IS DAYshall be unto you for a memorial; andye shall keep it A FEAST to the Lordthroughout your g e n e r a t i o ~ s ;ye shallkeep it A FEAST by an ord inance FOREVER. Sci-en days shall ye eat unleavenedbread . . . and in the FIRST DAY thereshall be AN HOLY CONVOCATION toyou."

WHA1' DAY is established as a MEMORIAL-nor a shadow, a MEMORIAL-aFEAST-to be kept FOREVER? Notice, itis the day that is the FEAsT-"Ye shallkeep it a FEAST." It is the day that is theFEAST DAy-the 15th Abib, not the

14th-no t the Passover!!This day is the FEAST DAY-a MEMORIAL, t o be kept a Sabbath, or Hol yConvocation, FOREVER' SEVEN DAYS areincluded and we have shown that thes e v e n - d a ~pe ri od begins the 15t h, af terPassover has passed. "IN the [ourteenrhis the PASSOVER, but IN THE 1'11'TEEN1'H DAY is the FEAST-seven days."

Many have always believed the dayhere spoken of, and o rda in ed forever, was the PASSOVER, or 14th. Bu t it isno t - i t is the 15th day.

    You Are NOTan "Armstrongite"

Some of 0/11 ' members need to learn to what Church they belong!by Richard D. Armstmug

D oYOC know what Church you

belong to? When your friendsask you, "What is your church?

What denomination do you belong to?"- w h a t is your answer? Do you tellthem you are an "Armstrongite?"-ora member of the "Armstrong Movement"- the man th at preaches over theradio on the World Tomorrow program?

JUST WHAT DO YOlJ TELL THEM?First, let's look at the word "church."

As it was originally used, the word"church" meant a group of people; nomore, no less. I t did not mean a holygroup or a Christian group-jus t a groupof people. That is the meaning of theoriginal Greek word, ehlesi.

I f you call yourself "a follower ofHerbert W. Armstrong" or any otherman, then you are no t a follower ofChrist-hence not a Christian! Theword Christian implies one who is afollower of Jesus Christ, who patte rn shis life after the life Christ led, whobelieves His teachings and follows Hi sprecepts.

Whom did Christ follow. One, .indonly one-God the Father! Chr ist is thehead of the true church, even as thehusband is the head of the wife!

As popularly applied, the word'Church" is taken to mean a group ofpeople bound together by a commoncreed or religious belief. There aremany diffe rent churches of this world, each wi th its own name, each with thename of the part icu lar person, creed orcustom it folluws.

What, then, is ottr creed and whom doli e fullow? \'Vhose group are we and toit-born do 11'/ ' belong?

Is Christ Divided?Notiu.' I Corin thia ns 1: 12-1_) where:

Paul says, "Now this I say, that everyone of you sairh, I am of Paul; and Iof Apollos; and I of Cephas; and I ofChrist."

Is Christ divided? Was Herbert \VArmstrong crucified for you? Or wereye baptized in the name of Armst rong?

We are not to follow human men butwe must follow Christ even as He followed the Father.

The true and correct name for thechurch (group of people) tha t is God's,

that belongs to him-keeps his commands is "The CHURCH OF GOD." Itsmembers pat te rn thei r lives aft er HisSon who lived perfectly. It is GOD'Sgroup, or GOD'S Church! This name implies that we have given ourselves toGod-recognize Him as the supremeauthority on this earth at the presenttime and have come to be able to bechastized by him, to accept correctionand reproof where we are wrong andfollow God's true WAY!

Every other Church does what it feelsis right. Or follows what some humanbeing (o r board of men) has set downas his precept of what is right by hisown private interpretat ion of the Bible.

Let us look now at Isaiah 55. Beginning with the sixth verse we read:"Seek ye the Lord while he may befound, call ye upon him while he isncar: Let the wicked forsake his way,and the unr ighteous man his thoughtJ:and let him return unto the Lord andhe will have mercy upon him; and to ourGod, for he will abundantly pardon."

Notice that we must forsake OURways and turn t o the ways of GOD. Thuswe KNOW HIM IF WE KEEP HISCOMMANDMENTS ( l Jo hn 2 :4, 6). SoGod's true church is a church or gro upof scattered individuals who recognizeGod as RULER-as the SUPREME AUTHORITY REIGNING ON EARTH AT THEPRESENT TIME-recognizing that it isGod who is working our His PURPOSEhere below!

    True Church Receives Correction

Not ice Hebrews 12:5-13 . We findhere that everyone who is a true childof God is being chastened-rebuked byGod. That means that he is having to beshown where he is wrong and is willingto admit it and do what is r igh t-go theother way, as God commands!

Notice what it says in the eighthverse: "But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then areye BASTARDS, am! NOT suns." Read it!Now we know that we are the childrenof God if He chastens us and is ourconstan t guide in life, not just an emptybelief that we think abour a few hours aday or a week!

In II Pete r 3: 18 we find anothe r sign

of God's true church. True Christiansare those who grow in grace and in theknowledge of our Lord and Saviour JesusChrist. Here is another way of knowingwhich is GOD'S true church. It is NOT astagnant group, but a g roup that grou.sspiritually in GRACE and KNOWLEDGE.

A third means by which we knowthat we are God's True Church is theway we recognize the authority of the

Bible. Look at II Timothy 3: 16. "A llscr ipture is given by inspira tion of God(God 's own way of speaking to us directly) and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof , for correction, for instruction in righteousness."

Brethren, there is the sign of thosewho are God' s t rue people! Those whoare overcoming, being chastened, recognize God as Supreme Authority, andknow that the Bible is his inspired Wordwhereby He corrects us.

There is only one church or gr oup ofpeople on this earth, tha t I know of, tha tis doing this! I f these things are true of

you, then you are a member of GOD'SCHURCH-a Christian-am! should callyourself such, NOTan "Armsrrongite," ora follower of any human being.

Now, if you are being led by God,chastened and rebuked by Him, dailyacknowledging where you are wrongand turning from YOUR ways, andlearning and living HIS ways, YOU AREA MEMBER OF GOD'S TRUE CHURCH andnot an "Armst rong-i re " or a member of"the Armstrong Movement." You shouldboldly tell people to whom you belong. Not ic e Paul's reaching in Acts 20:28:'Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the Hock, over the which theHoly Spiri t hath made you overseers, tofeed the CHURCH OF GOD, which hehath PURCHASED with his own blood!"We helong t o God! You are a memberof the Church of God!

T he NAME of th e Church

The Bible gives us the true NAME ofthe Church in twelve different places.Twelve is God's COMPLETE number.

In five passages where the true NAMEof the Church appears, the entire Body ofChris t - the Church as a whole- i s in

Bu r let us learn th e full significanceof this. WHY di d God ordain thesefeast days? What was Hi s great PURPOSE? Turn now to Exodus 13, verse.'>: "Moses said unto the people, Remember THIS DAY, in which ye CAME OUT

from Egypt." This was the 15th of Abib.Verse 6: "Seven days thou shalt eat unleavened bread, and the seventh Jayshall be a FEAST unto the Eternal . . .This is done BECAUSE of that which theEternal d i d " - (il MEMORIAL) - " a n d itshall be for a SIGN" - (miraculousPROOF of identity) - " u n t o thee uponthine hand, and for a MEMORIAL betweenthine eyes"-WHy?-" thar th e LORD'SLAW MAY BE IN THYMOUTH ... Thoushalt therefore KEEP this ordinance."

Oh, beloved brethren, do you see th ewonderful meaning? Do you g ra sp t hetrue s ig ni fi canc e of it all? Do you seeGod's PURPOSE? Th e PASSOVER picturesthe DEATH OF CHRIST for the remissionof sins that are Pilst. Th e accepting ofHi s BLOOD does no t forgive sins weSHALL commi t - i t does no t give LICENSE to continue in sin-thereforeWHEN we accep t i t, ou r sins are forgivenonly up to that time-PAST SlNS.

Bu t shall we rlOp there? Past sins forgiven. Bur we are still fie.rh beings. Westill shall suffer temptations, Sin has heldus in its c lu tch-we have been SLAVESto sin, in its power. An d we are power-less to deliver ourselves from it! Wehave been in BONDAGE to sin. Let usunderstand th e p ictu re- the meaning.

    Quit t ing Sin Utterly

To what extent shall we pu t awarsin? Not partially, bu t COMPT.F.TELY!And, as leaven is also a type of s i nleaven puffs up, and so does s i n - and .as SEVEN is God's number symbolizingCOMPLETENESS, we are to follow thePassover w it h the seuen days of trnlear-ened bread'!

fail LU observe the seven days of unleavened bread , means, in th e symbolism, toaccept Chr is t' s b lood , and then to continue on in s i n - t o say with th e Sundaychurches th e Law is done away, we areunder grace, meaning license, to continue in sin!!

Th e seven days of th e fe.isr of unleavened bread p ic tu re t he keeping oftlu: CO I / I J l l imd l l lC I I ! I , which is anotherway of saying the putting away of sin.

And, us Rome's fol lowers have theMARK of th e BEAST in t he ir r ig ht h andand forehead, so God 's t ru e church is tohave these feas t days, the first of whichIS a MEMORIAL picturing deliverancefrom sin, in OUR right hand and forehead, as God's SIGN, in order that wesha ll KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS. Andsince the forehead is th e s ea t of th e intellect, and symbolizes ACCEPTANCE, andthe right hand symbolizes WORK, wehave this SIGN Of' GOD there by accepting this truth a bo ut t he Holy Days

an d days of unleavened bread, and byNOT WORKING on these holydays! Notonly is t he weekly Sabbath God's SIGN(Ex. 31: 12-17) bu t annual Sabbaths areSIGNS as well!

    One Incident

Just a short personal reference showin g how marvelously this ordinance pictures the P LA N O F REDEMPTION, I i happened years ago at Eugene, Oregon. On eyear, as we as sembl ed in Holy Convocation the last of these Sabbaths, 21sr Abib, one sister men tioned she had found ahalf slice of leavened bread behind

s ome t hi ng s in he r home, during th edays of unleavened bread. She had pu t it out of the house im

mediately. Another spoke up and saidshe h ad f ou nd a can of baking powderhalf full, which she did not know shehad. Another found a slice of bread andsome yeast. All had put the leaven ouras soon as discovered.

How true to l ife is th e picture! Howoften do we, after we think we have pu t' lway sin, discover hidden sins or habitswe did not know we h a d - o r thoughtwe had overcome? They must be putaway, and overcome as soon as discovered.

Bur let us notice t he wonde rful picture further. Th e children of Israel s tarted our of Egypt, t he ni ght of the 15thAbib, as we must, willingly, of o ur o wnaccord, start ou: of sin as soon as weaccept the Blood of Christ. They startedom on their OW1l power-and we mustmake the start of ourselves.

But they did not get far unt i l Pharaohpursued after them. I f Egypt is a type ofsin, then surely P hara oh mu st pi ct ur eSatan, t he a rmy of Egypt Satan's demons.

    Tbe GOOD NEWS

While I sr ael was IN EGYPT they werePharaoh's slaves, helpless and powerlessunder his taskmasters-just as th e sinne r is in th e power of th e devil. Burwhen Israel took th e Blood of t he l ambwhen Go d acted, an d as a re sul t of God'sact of the p lague of th e first-born, Pharaoh released Israel. When we acceptChrist's Blood, GOD ACTS, a nd th e De vi lmust release us.

    No Sacrifices Originally

Thus we see, the FEAST of unleavenedbread, as wel l as th e PASSOVER, was ordained and established FOREVER, PRIORto th e ceremonial Law of MoseS-PRIORto the Old Covenant. Let us be consistent about this, Opponents tell usthese are IN THE LAW OF MOSES. Wereply they exis ted before th e Law ofMoses, are ca rri ed over in th e N euTestament, and the re fo re are bindingtoday,

Notice especially, that originally therewere NO SACRIFICES-no MEAT ANDDRINK ordinances-held on these days.See Jer. 7:22-23, These days were 170tinstituted FOR THE PURPOSE of the

sacrifices as some beue w ro ng ly s upposed. These holydays are no t shadows- t h e y are MEMORIALS, and twice plainlycalled such. Where do we find such plainlanguage calling th e Sabbath a memorial? (See also Lev, 23: 21.)

Th e Sabbath, tOO, existed BEFOREthe law of Moses-was made HOLYUNTO THE LORD befor e the Mosaic lawwas given,

When th e Law of Moses came, withits sacrificial ordinances, its meat anddrink ordinances, then THESE SACRT-FICES AND MEAT AND DRINK OFFERINGS WERE INSTITUTED, TEMPORARI-Ly-unt i l Chris t -TO BE HELD, somedaily, SOME ON THE WEEKLY SABBATH.AND SOME ON THE FIRST OF EACHMONTH, and SOME ON EACH OF THEANNUAL HOLYDAYS.

But, mar]: 'Well this fact:' Where wefind these sacrifices and meat and drinkofferings instituted on th e holydays wefind them also a ll t he w ee kl y sabbath.Th e same chapters in the Law of Mosesadding them to t he a nnu al days ALSOADD THEM TO THE WEEKL Y DAYS.

Th e a rg umen t t ha t these sacrificesheld on these days does away with thedays APPLIES EQUALLY TO THE SAB-BATH! I f this argument abolishes one,it abolishes also t he o th er. Th e Sundaypreachers a rg ue t ha t these sacrifices do;1way with th e Sabbath. We deny i t -why? Th e Sabbath existed BEFORE thesesacrifices were added. THE SAME ISTRUE OF THE HOLYDAYS! They began, roo, BEFORE th e ritualistic Law ofMoses! This is SO PLATN that none willdeny it excep t t ho se whose heart s arerebellious against Almighty God andHi s TRUTH!

Sacrifices on \ '{1 eeklv Sabbath

First, the offer ings by fire DAY BY DAY,rhe "morning-evening" sacrifice. Second, verses 9-10, burnt meat offerings, anddrink offerings every SABBATH. Third.verses 11-15, NEW MOONS. Then, verse16, to end of chapter 29, th e annualdays.

Now we know these MEAT AND DRINK

offerings, by fire, were TYPICAL, andwere DONE AWAY. Bu t are th e sevenweek days DONE AWAY? Is th e weeklySABBATH done away? Is th e first day ofeach month DONE AWAY? Only inBABYLON-not in God's sight. Thenneither are the annual HOLYDAYS OFTHE LORD done away!

The sacrifices were typical, and theycame with the Law of Moses, and theyWENT with it. But the DAYS on whichthey were held were not typical, did notcome with the Law of Moses, and didnot go w it h it.

The DAYS are binding FOREVER! Asthe Sabbath is a MEMORIAL, so are the

    Holydays!

    Commanded ill New Testament

And now we w ish to show a NEWTESTAMENT COMMAND--more plain, more direct, than any we can find for theweekly Sabbath- to keep these annualHOLYDAYSl

Observe again Num. 28: 16-17: ''INrhc fou uceut h day of the first month isthe PASSOVER of the Lord. An d IN thej iftecl1tb dill' of this month is th eFEAST: scue: d "l 's sha ll unleavenedbread be eaten." .

This FEAST was not th e 14th, bu t the15th, It was the PASSOVER, when theLAMB was killed, rhar W;JS the 14th. Th edaylight part of the 14th was the PREP-ARATION for the FEAST. (Mat. 27:62;Mk. 15:42; Lk. 2 ~ : 5 4 :Jno. 19:14.)(NOTE, in Jesus' day the Jews celebrated their passover one day late according to the tradition of the cldersfohn 18:28.), Let us get this point thoroughly established in ou r mind s, for if this is true,as it is, THEN ALL OF THESE DAYS ARESTILI. BINDING UPON US, BY NEWTESTAMENT, as well as Old Tes tamentAl'THORITY!

Nmice Mat. 26:5: Th e Jews, conspir

ing to kill Jesus, said: "Not on theFEAST DAY, lest there be an uproaramong the people." They has tened sothey could take and kill Him th e day!)c/ore the feast, O [ on the 14th Nisan.

Mark l-t: 2 says the same thing. Nowto establish that tb e [eas t day was theday after th e Passover festival. and thatit was the high cia)' Sabbath-the dayAFTER Jesus was crucif ied, notice John13:29 : "Fo r s ome of t hem thought , because }\Ilbs had the bag (was treasurer-Fen ton ) , that Jesus had said untohim, Em' those things that we have need

    The GOOD NEWS

of aga in st the FEAST." This was at thePassover supper. The y t ho ug ht Jesuswas sending Judas ou t to buy provisionsto prepnre for the FEAST. Sttrely thisproves the FEAST was the following day- t h e 15th Nisan, as all these Scripturespositively affirm.

Now let us examine carefully I Cor.

5: 7 -8. Churche s have app li ed this tothe PASSOVER. Notice it does no t say,nor app ly to , PASSOVER j\1at all. Let uswillingly, prayerfully, study to see whatit does say:

"For even Christ ou r Passover is sacrificed for us: therefore T.RT us KEEPTHE FEAST." Notice it. Because Chr is t,our Passover, has been sacrificed, there-fore let us of the NEW Testament dispensarion-i-ascxusn Chr is t has J i e d -keep, WHAT? Notice it! NOT the Passover, which was on t he 14th Nisan-bu tlet 115 keep the FEAST-which was th e15th/ Th e high-day Sabbath of John 19:31! Th e annual HOLY DAY. And, in a

larger sense, th e FEAST included all seven of the days of unleavened bread, including th e SECOND Holy Day, or Sabba th, on the 21st Nisan! We cannot escape this, if we are yielded to th e Lordand the Word of God! There it is, inplain language, in th e New Testament!Because Christ was crucified, thereforelet us keep the FEAST! Th e 14th wasrhe Passover, bu t itz the 15th day of tbisniontb is th e FEAST! Let us no longerapply that to th e Passover, for it SAYS"feast."

Days of Unleavened Bread KEPT BYPAUL and NEW TESTAMENT

CHURCHI t is fa ithful ly recorded in th e New

Testament that, during the period itshistory covers, the Church was keepingthose days!

In Acts 20:6, "we sailed away fromPhilippi AFTER THE DAYS OF UNLEAVENED BREAD." Paul and companionsplainly had observed th e days of unleavened br ead at Phi li pp i. Th e HolySpiri t could never have inspired suchwords otherwise.

Notice also Acts 12: 3-4: "Then werethe days of unleavened bread . . . intending after PASSOVER (see Greek)

to bring him for th to the people. " Couldt he H ol y S pi ri t have inspi red the d ir ec taffirmation, "Tben WERE th e days ofunl eavened bre ad" if those days had, inGod's s igh t ceased to exist?

Notice, it is no t any blinded Judaizers, ignorant of what was abolished, makingthis srnremenr-c--ir is Almighty God saying it thru inspiration of the Holy Spirit. This was YEARS after the crucifixion. The days of unleavened b read still existed, or the Holy Spi ri t could not haveinspired 'Then WERE th e days of unleavened bread."

    Name of Our Church

And, finally, in speaking of the local

Ou r members should realize that there

our in 1934 as 'The Radio Church ofGod." By the time we were forced toincorporate in order to be subject to thepowers of human government as theBible instructs us to be, this name hadbecome nationally known. Because othersalready were incorpora ted in the stateas 'The Church of God," we were not

allowed to incorporate under that namealone. Since the radio work was themain function of the church-and at thetime it was, prnuarily, a church over theradio, r ather than in anyone or severalchurch buildings-and since it was entirely Scriptural, we incorporated underthe name "RADIO CHURCH OF GOD." Wemay, someday, be able to alter this to'The Churches of God."

But, regardless of technical names ofthe incorporated work, the name of theCHURCH to which you belong-that gencr.il body of all the individuals in theworld who collectively form the trueBody of Christ-IS THE CHURCH OFCOD.
