Stay Tuned For More Good News
Joyfully, we announce that plans are underway to birth a new fellowship group, falling within the Deacons'
member-care mission. This group is primarily intended for members who have experienced the loss of or
separation from a spouse and who may enjoy the shared companionship of church friends whom are also
walking that path.
Like all Hamilton Union functions, we expect a lot of lunching, activities, andshared smiles! So when the invitation arrives in the next month or so, telling
the time and place of the first gathering, please give it mindful consideration
(for approximately one minute), answer a resounding "YES", and join in the
camarader ie! See you soon!

Jesus of Nazareth,
You know how long I have been at this. You know I first tried to write
about you to friends and family. But you have come alive to me. I cannotwrite about you. I have to submit my thoughts to you.
I am persuaded that the Word spoken to Moses out of the burning bushand the Word that caused you to demand that John baptize you are one
and the same. To Moses the word: go back to Egypt and free your people from slavery to the king ofEgypt, and to you: go forth and set all human families free from slavery to the kingdoms of this world.
Your command to John the Baptist stirred your Fathers joyous response, This is my beloved son.
You became one with all enslaved humanity.
Your Father immediately put you through a most intense basic training. Without any physical or hu-
man resources you faced all the kingdoms of this world. If they could entice you to give your name toany of their schemes at least have your name on their business cards they would pay you off with
the greatest of riches. For forty days, the story goes, they tempted you day and night. Why forty?
Noah spent forty days and nights on the Ark preserving human, beast, and bird from the flood?
Moses spent forty years in the wilderness training of one human family enslaved for generations how tolive in freedom, justice, and in the love of an unseen Lord of all?
Jesus of Nazareth, was your baptism also your Fathers call to you to plant your Fathers kingdomin the whole human world a step beyond his call to Moses to establish one model community? This is
my present reading of the Gospels. And your Father had to have your human input to bring it about.
Years of dialogue were a most important step. The seed of His kingdom, as you together designed it,contained four elements: Work, Health, Food, and Challenge to all the kingdoms of this world.
Your Fathers kingdom on planet earth is spread by human communication of Truth. Your words
hold true: We stil l have a father with two sons, wise and foolish maidens, good Samaritans, the richyoung ruler, and the poor widow. We still have to choose. You still have to teach. We have to learn, tolearn to read truth, to speak truth.
Your Fathers kingdom on Planet Earth heals. The human race is plagued with illness from disfig-urements of body, to insanity of mind and spirit. Law in our hands can become a contagious disease.
Our work ethic is subject to fever. Our greed and pride can reach murderous proportions. Distrust
plagues us.
You came with healing on you wings. We continue to speak of it as miraculous. We have much tolearn.
Your Fathers kingdom feeds the hungry. Our world has chosen to deliver weapons instead ofbread. We think well go hungry, if we give bread. When you told us to feed the five thousand, we said
we didnt have enough for ourselves. You told us to show what we had. We showed five loaves for five
thousand. Dont forget the eleven-year-old boy who showed his 2 pieces of fish. We shared at your or-der. Five thousand ate, and were filled.
Food for the hungry is a top priority in your kingdom.

Hi Friends!
Just a little update! Easter dinner we served a record amount of meals, 777! That includes asecond helping and takeout meals.
Sometimes I struggle with celebrating the fact that so many people are in need, but Ialso get to
see the other side of things, all of the calls I receive from folks who share with me you guyshelped me when I needed it and I want to give back and volunteer. Now thats what this is allabout!
Thanks to all of the support we get from friends like you, we are able to continue to open our
doors and allow our guests the opportunity to spend their holidays here in a family atmosphere!
Thanks for the donated toiletries we were able to double bless our guests with! Some of you
made placemats, others gave candy and Easter baskets, and many of you prayed and we felt it.
Lots of great things planned this spring! Our new semester of Bridges to Freedom starts today, so
prayers are ALWAYS needed for staff, volunteers, residents and their families, all of us! Anyway Iwanted to check in and say Happy Spring and thank you all for being so faithful!
Ill write you later in the week with some current needs, I know Hannahs Nurture Center, where
our little ones stay while their moms are in class, needs some volunteer help and some supplies tomake that time productive for the kids. Ill work on that list and get back to you all.In the meantime, have a blessed week!
Here are a few of the smiles you helped make possible on Easter!

Pentecost Offering
Unlike any other mission funding tool, the special offerings are a wayfor all Presbyterians - regardless of gift amount, church size, orgeographic location, to come together in changing lives around theworld and in our own community.
The Pentecost Offering provides Presbyterians the opportunity toinvest in the future of the church by supporting ministries thatencourage, develop, and support its young people as well as provideassistance to at-risk children.
A Presbyterian church in Norfolk, Virginia used its portion of thePentecost Offering to create the Apple-a-Day program which providesfresh fruit and other healthy snacks to local school children on theirway to class each day.
If you have a box of weekly offering envelopes, there is one for thePentecost Offering included. Envelopes may also be found in thepews during the month of May.
40% of the offering will be retained by Hamilton Union to supportministry with children-at-risk in our community.
60% of the amount received will be sent to PC(USA) toprovide leadership development opportunities forPresbyterian youth and young adults for programs at the
national level.
Since 1998 over $7 million has been raised for theseministries that benefit the younger members of Gods church .

time, talent and treasure impact the life of Hamilton Union. Our purpose is to
extend those dialogues we begin each year during our annual stewardship
campaigns. We hope you will find this column interesting, informative and at
times even amusing as we explore the creat ive ways your support can benefit
this congregation we all hold near and dear.
We also want to hear from you. What topics would you like us to highlight?
Let us know your thoughts. Stop us at church or give us a call. We look for-
