Our dancers were a source of much pride again on the day. Well done boys. I would like to thank the hard work of Mindy Gibbs, George Lane, Tommy Stanton, Aunty Nick and Wayne Gibbs. All of these people contributed enormously to the development of this garden over the year. (Please see page 2 for photos of the opening.) We would like to take this opportunity to farewell Pat and thank him for all of his work in our Community Gardens. Pat has maintained the community food gardens for quite a long time and his efforts have been greatly appreciated by all. All year, we have been trying to organise air conditioning for our classrooms in our school (and solar panels on the roof - to offset the cost of the air conditioners). I applied for a grant of $26 000 towards our solar panels and we won this grant. The Department of Education have finally given approval for both of these projects to go ahead and the monies have been taken from our school account. This work will soon be taking place. The Department of Education are going to paint many of our classrooms in the next month and our student toilets will be getting a new roof. Nine of our students from Primary and Secondary school will be going to Lake Keepit in Tamworth next week, to participate in a Dance Camp. They will be working with dance teachers to learn traditional dances that they will perform to open a large conference on the Wednesday morning. We hope that they have a great time. I would like to give a reminder to parents and caregivers that no phones are allowed on excursions any more. If you wish to call your child, you can do so through the teachers’ phones (numbers are provided on the permission note). Last night, we had a great time at the Year 12 Graduation Ceremony in Moree, where we supported Tamika in her graduation with all of her Year 12 cohort across the Northern Borders Secondary Access Program. This was a brilliant evening and Tamika made all of our school very proud.

Kindergarten Transition

Hello Everyone, We have had a great start to the term in K12. Everyone has been working very hard and achieving many wonder-

ful things. In HSIE we have been learning about India, during English we have been writing about Red Pandas

and in Maths this week we are learning about volume and capacity. One of the most exciting things now though, is when the Kinder Start students come to visit us in K12

each week. It is so much fun!

Having fun in K-1-2

A Reminder:

With the weather ‘warming up’ please remember to send your children to school wearing a hat & closed in shoes & sunscreen each day. A water bottle is also recommended, which the students are able to keep in their classroom fridge.

We are also encouraging students to drink lots of water at school. Packing sandwiches and fruit for their lunch and recess is highly encouraged to provide students with healthy energy for tackling daily school work.

ATTENTION ALL PARENTS/CARERS

If your child/children are absent from school could you please contact the school on (02) 682 96257 or send a note with your child to explain absence. This would be appreciated.

Thank you!!

Parents, Caregivers & Community Members

If you have the need to enter the school grounds for any reason including

delivering lunch money etc, could you please sign in at the front office as part

of our work place safety.

Thank you!!

Dhiiyan Guumali - Play Group

monies by the due date, or they will not be attending any events.

blue room down the back of the school.

The most important gift that you can give to your

children is your love.

Attendance Notice High school students are expected to attend every day. The DEC stipulates that all students in N.S.W should have an attendance no less than 85% to meet educational requirements. Attendance is linked to Abstudy and Youth Allowance. If attendance drops below 85% then Centrelink can moderate payments if a student does not attend a day or part of a day of school, as the school has a Duty of Care. If students have more than 15% unexplained absences, the Home School Liaison Officer (HSLO) will contact the student’s parent/carer.
