He talked about the famous game

Officersskills along with Jacks brain to pull all the stories together this book
was written on an amazing legion to Bakersfield. Gil played
football, basketball and baseball at San Jose State, an excellent
athlete, but also played the piano and accordion proficiently. He
directed college variety shows along with composing the music for
them. He was even the sports editor of the campus newspaper. He
graduated with degrees in Physical Education, Social Science,
English and Natural Science.
Dr. Jack Schuetz spoke of the
slight build of the physical stature of
Gil, his special athletic talents, the
deep voice and the seriousness of the
man. He inspires people all around
him that they Can Do It! He used
humor when needed and brought life
and interest to inspire athletes to
strive. Gil had an ability to remember
names, had the gift to gab, never met
a stranger, and had a firm handshake
and a warm smile.
Books of Gil Bishop are available at Russo’s Bookstore and the
BC Bookstore. All production costs of the book were underwritten
by several of Gil's student athletes and fellow coaches; so a all
proceeds for the book go to the Bakersfield College Foundation.
