Genre Characteristics For this particular music video they have decided to go against the stereotypical lip singing and not have that done in the music video but yet stereotypical still have the main artist being in the video. For this video the pastel colours are showing that the genre is showing soul and is done by acoustic and is a slow and loving video for the pop industry. This music video is for the Pop genre but it is

different to the other songs that this artist has done because it represents soul. The clothing in this video is showing the viewers the mood is romantic and loving towards the two artists in the music video. The white dress and shirt showing purity and showing the lovingness and coordination between the two artists and making the music video look simple and elegant.

2. Relationship - lyrics and VisualsThe first lyrics ‘When your legs don’t work like they use to before’ are visually shown with the woman model walking towards the artist and the shot being from the waist downwards to represents the lyric ‘legs’ this makes the viewers think about the lyrics and showing them what the artist means by the physical appearance.The lyrics ‘When m hands don’t play the strings the same way’ the

visuals are simple are the male artist sitting on the floor while the female model pushes through the male’s hand and sits next to him and he gets her legs and symbolises strumming his guitar while looking into her eyes .and using the model to embrace that lyrics shows the emotion.‘Kiss me under the light of a thousand stars’ is shown with them being stood back to back and then falling down back to back and sitting like that. Then moving there heads from side to side from each other. Showing the love in the lyrics.

3. Relationship- Music and VisualsThe music shows representation towards the visuals very clearly and simple. The slow past cuts and not jumping to shot to shot but they run smoothly and flow through one shot to another so it shows the sequence of the dance as one whole shot.

There was slow motion than normal when the model were connected to each other, At the beginning of the music video the woman is on her own in front of red curtains and it then fades to black and goes into the dance sequence. There are more long shots and mid shots to show the dancing and the performance rather than close ups and doesn't want to show the emotion and story with the lyrics.

4. Close ups of the artistAlthough this music video is a performance concept and is all about the artist, this particular music video hardly has any close ups of the artist and focus’s on both models and doesn't have any singular shots of just him. Because of the style the artist has chosen it complements both models.

There is a lot of long shots of the main artist but with the other model being around the shot and dancing with and around the artist in the style of romance and love, showing the emotion through performance rather than the lyrics which the viewers find different and like the idea of it and like having the artist still mainly involved.

5. Reference to lookingThe frequent dance theme runs through the whole video and having just the two characters in the shots is frequent too. The location being the same all the way through sets the mood of the songs and having lights shown on the models shows the performance concept.The frequent shot around the location but still having the two models in the shot shows the mood and the relaxation towards the scenery and what they wanted to stereotype which is different because the artist did the opposite.

6.IntertexualityTwo different films have between intertexual towards this music video. The first one being Dirty Dancing and showing the connection between the partners and also between the lyrics. The mood of the music video was shown through that film aswell.

The other film is footloose and the simple but perfect dancing and relationship that was shown. Also the expression the models use are the same serious but happy.
