German death metal veterans Goregast (previously known as Distress in early 90's), before the release of their forthcoming fourth full length album, have put out Covered in Skin through F.D.A. Rekotz ,a twotrack 7” EP which lasts for around 11 minutes. These two songs are visceral in their intensity and are characterized by rather simple, mostly midpaced riffing, which are very groovy and totally heavy and aggressive, and delivered within a very nice old school death metal package that still manages to sound relevant with its massive grooves. Let me make it clear, there's nothing truly standout here in terms of technicality, but the overall performance turned out tight and cohesive. They show a way of playing full of variations that are what here really drive quality to home. There are very enjoyable moments in this 7” EP, and it's definitely something to listen to. I'm pretty sure they'll grow even more for their next fulllength album. GOREGAST Covered in Skin F.D.A.
