Gorge Women in STEM
The Gorge Tech Alliance is starting a new offering and initiative forwomen working in STEM fields (science, tech, engineering andmath) in the Gorge. We're exploring how we can support andconnect our women professionals and encourage the nextgeneration of female students into STEM degrees. An initialgathering event is in the works, possibly in late October, and wehope to announce details soon!
Gorge Tech Showcase a Success
The GTA's Gorge Tech Showcase on Sept 20th was a success,thanks to the ten companies who presented and the 70+ peoplethat turned out to listen, network and find jobs! Thanks also to theTech Association of Oregon for helping promote the event and drawmetro attendees.

The GTA's membership includes several Community PartnerMembers, whose work interacts with ours to create a better Gorge.One of those is The Next Door, the Gorge's impressive andeffective social service organization that strengthens children andfamilies and improves communities in seven counties in the Mid-Columbia region on both sides of the river.
The Next Door has several reasons to reach out to the techcommunity. The first is to share their new service providingtranslation and interpretation services, as well as coaching andtraining around diversity, equity, and inclusion. GTA Partner Mid-Columbia Economic Development District(MCEDD) is hosting their annual Gorge Economic Symposium tofocus on economic and employment trends in the regional economyas well as a keynote and panel discussion centered on theGorge's wood and forest products industry.
Aggregated regional data, as well as individual county data will beprovided by economists Scott Bailey and Dallas Fridley, coveringHood River, Wasco, Sherman, Klickitat and Skamania counties.The keynote address delivered by Jason Spadaro, SDS Lumber.
