GENERAL RULES FOR THE HOMECRAFT & HORTICULTURE SECTIONS

1. This section is open to any Exhibitor. All Exhibits to be bona-fide work of

Exhibitors 2. All Exhibits are to be staged as directed by the Stewards not later than 9.30am.

on the morning of the Show. Exhibits will be accepted on the Saturday evening from 5pm up to 7pm or on

the morning of the Show between 7am and 9am 3. At 9.am the marquees will be closed for Judging for approx. 2.5 hours. No

Exhibitors are allowed into the marquees during Judging.

THE JUDGES DECISION IS FINAL 4. Trophies & Prizes will be presented on Show Day in the Homecraft marquee from

4 pm. 5. Prize money to be collected from the Head Steward after the presentation of

Trophies and special prizes on Show Day 6. Exhibits to be collected after trophy presentation but before 7pm Show day. 7. The Committee accepts no responsibility for any loss, damage, accident or

unclaimed exhibits 8. Exhibitors may enter as many Exhibits as they wish but only 1 prize awarded per

Exhibitor per class. 9. Should there be less than 4 entries in a class prize money will be awarded at the

Judges discretion 10. If your total entry fee is £5 or more – this entitles you to ONE free admission

ticket to the Show. Only available to advanced entries by post accompanied by a s.a.e.

11. The children‟s classes are open for children under 16 years old as at 01.01.2017,

work must be unaided and entry forms to be signed by parent/guardian. 12. The age of the Exhibitor will be taken into account when Judging the childrens

classes and MUST CLEARLY BE SHOWN ON EXHIBIT as the age of the child on Show Day

13. Show Day car park fee £2 payable up to 4pm

Entry fee 50p All entry forms to be in the hands of the Head Steward by 9am Sunday The general rules apply to these classes, also;

1. All exhibitors must strictly adhere to the recipe given unless stated otherwise 2. Exhibitors may enter as many classes as they wish, but only 1 entry per class. 3. Where sponsor donated prizes are NOT available, prize money of the following

amounts will be awarded - £3 1st prize, £2 2nd prize, £1 3rd prize. ADULT COOKERY SECTION RECIPES OLD TOM (Strong Ale) CAKE (Recipe B) Recipe 4 oz Unsalted Butter. 4 oz Dark Soft Brown Sugar. 12 oz Plain Flour 6 oz Mixed Dried Fruit 180ml/ ¼ pint OLD TOM 1 level teaspoon Bicarb of Soda 1 level teaspoon Mixed Spice Method Place butter, sugar, fruit and OLD TOM in a saucepan, melt all together and then boil for 2-3 mins. Sieve flour, bicarb and spice into a bowl, add fruit and ale mixture and stir thoroughly. Put in a greased 2lb loaf tin and bake for 1 hour in the centre of a mod. oven - 350F, 180C, Gas Mark 4.

HORTICULTURE The general rules apply to these classes with the addition of :- 1. Farm, Garden and Allotment produce will be Judged on “Rules for Shows”

published by the Royal Horticultural Society

2. Classes open to any amateur grower

3. All Exhibits should be clean

4. Exhibitors must provide their own vases etc.. 5. Whilst the naming of Exhibits is not compulsory (except in classes stated)

the Judge will give preference in cases of equal merit to the Exhibits which are correctly named
