Governing Board Message

November 5th was election day and PVSchools had two measures on the ballot. We are thrilled with the support voters demonstrated in the continuation of both the bond and capital (DAA) override. Bonds and overrides have become a mechanism by which local voters can elect to support the district or districts in which they live. Calling an election is not taken lightly; school boards across Arizona have had to made difficult decisions about whether to go out for a bond or override. Read the entire November letter.

NVAA Theater Program and Shadow Mountain High School Drama Club Presents Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka More than 60 cast and crew members, comprised of 5th-12th grade North Valley Arts Academies Theater students from Desert Cove Elementary, Shea Middle, and Shadow Mountain High schools, will bring to life the beloved story of Charlie and Willy Wonka. Jeanine Rometty, Robert Moore, Mary Dahn, and Amanda Sage who teach math at Palomino Intermediate School and Palomino Primary School beta tested a version of ST Math. ST Math is a fun and interactive online math program, based on the Common Core math curriculum. The schools were two of 17 schools in the United States selected for this implementation. Cactus View Elementary School is also using ST Math.

Eric Goldstone, a physics teacher at Pinnacle High School, was the guest of Maricopa County School Superintendent Steve Watson for a visit to the Reactor Unit 3 at Palo Verde Generating Station on October 10th. During the visit, they learned about the refueling process for a reactor, how recycled wastewater is used for cooling, the connection between APS, SRP, and the generating station, and the impressive safety and security measures that are taken. Mr. Goldstone plans to incorporate what he learned into his lessons about electricity, nuclear energy, and nuclear power as an alternative source of energy to generate electricity.
