I have great pleasure in bringing out the latest handy edition of the
annual publication "Bihar At A Glance - 2011 ". This publication has been found
to be useful and handy at the same time, not only by the policy makers and
researchers but by the common readers also. In this new edition, we have tried to
incorporate the latest data available upto 2011 in the various Departments, on
Socio-Economic development of the State, apart from the standard data.

At the end of the financial year 2010-11 the fiscal deficit shall be limited to the extent of 3.50%
after surrenders under different heads of Plan and Non Plan. In the above statement salary of
teaching and non-teaching employees of universities is not included in the salary item. It has been
included in Non-plan expenditure under education sector.
GSDP figures shown in the year 2009-10 (Actual) and 2010-11 (R.E.) is based on the letter
no.258 dated 11.02.2011 of Planning & Development Department (Directorate of Economics &
Statistics).
GSDP figures shown in the year 2010-11(B.E.) is as per previous estimates.
For the year 2011-12, loan limit of Rs. 6342 crore has been fixed by the G.O.I. which is 3% of
