Sectoral Operational Programme „Increase of Economic Competitiveness”

“Investments for Your Future”

Extreme Light Infrastructure – Nuclear Physics (ELI-NP)

Status and Perspectives

EUROPEAN UNION

Project co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund

Nicolae-Victor Zamfir

Extreme Light Infrastructure (ELI)

Gerard Mourou 1985: Chirped Pulse Amplification (CPA)

Target Normal Sheath Acceleration (TNSA)

Primary radiations

Secondary radiations- electrons bremssstrahlung- gamma rays, neutrons

Secondary target

Electrons are expelled from the target due to the chock wave induced by the powerful laser Heavy ions are accelerated in the field created by the electrons
