From The Desk of Principal

To all my Dear students & staff

Being a largest polytechnic in the region of Saurashtra, we have huge responsibility to be disbursed at the

service of students , industries and community as a

whole. The faculty of any institute is a big strength

which can transform the academic scenario of the

institute. Government Polytechnic staff is capable of

this miracle. What is needed here is cohesive style of

working together to achieve set objectives. I wish to

cater my students best of the available in the field of

technology of their subject by keeping my teaching

force active and advanced. Maximum placement of

students to industries can only be achieved if we

create engineers according to the need and

expectation of the people who are going to absorb the

job aspirants. I am also firmly believing that overall

progress of students in all dimensions is the need of

time and hence it is very much necessary in parallel to

develop student’s communication skills , behavioural

aspect and presentation abilities. I am working in the

direction of offering many such activities which can

help in upbringing the level of students in all

dimensions of knowledge, skills and attitudes.

Wherever some grey corners are there I am constantly

working to make it brighten by positive ways of

correction. Once students arrives at this institute they

are the assest of this college and I am looking after for

all needed to let them flourish over here. The parents

should also take care that their child is not seated at

home or moving around instead of attending classes ,

which can be great help to us to make all students in

class and laboratories during the college time.

Technology is updating with very high speed and it is

not an easy task to keep pace with it. If we wish to build

stronger India , we have to create stronger skillful

engineers. Our motto is to make such kind of

technicians who can build the tomorrow’s Inida. I would

like to thank honorable commissioner of technical

education, Gujarat for all support.

Interview Tips : Do’s and Don’t’s

With the blessings of institute principal Dr.P.P.Kotak

and under his guidance Training & placement

Department of Government Polytechnic –Rajkot has

organised an Awareness programme on subject

“Preparing for interview” for students of final year

Diploma Engineering. It has been observed that the

students are bit weak in facing interview due to their

poor communication skills as well as lack of

awareness about the process of interview. Purpose of

this programme is to make them aware about all

advance preparation to be done as well as expected

questions . Behavioural part is very important at the

time of facing interview. Thus to be good in behaviour

it is necessary to mold their personaity and make it

pleasant. Arranging such programme in semester-5 is

helpful to them in getting time to improve their overall

personality. Dr.D.H.Ahir – Senior faculty member from

EC-Department of this institute and Associate Dean of

Gujarat Technological University for zone-4 has

designed whole program and delivered to students

being a resource person of this event. He has divided

whole program in 5 –steps . Around 250 students have

participated in the programme and they have found

this event very much useful in building their career in

coming days. Very interactive way he has guided all

students taking almost 3-00 hours in delivery of all five

steps in detail.

All students from the various departments have shown

tremendous excitement by their presence at this

programme on “Preparing for Interview”. At the time of

feedback they have described whole event as “Never

Learning at site on Chain,Tape &

Compass : An innovative initiative of

Civil Engineering Gurus

Students of 3rd Semester Civil, Govt Polytechnic,

Rajkot did a field work based on chain, tape &

compass survey on 27th July, 2016. The site was at

Gove Quarters located behind old Dharam Talkies.

About 123 students of 3rd Sem Civil were

accompanied by 5 staff members of Civil Dept named

Mr M G Purohit, Mr J A Doshi, Mr J H Morabiya, Mr S

M Tilala & Mr K D Gagalani did the field work.

The project is a part of syllabus for the subject,

Surveying. The project was aimed at giving practical

experience of the concept of a closed traverse survey.

The survey was carried out using following

instruments. Prismatic Compass- For taking bearings

of survey lines .Chain- For measuring length of survey

line & chainage of offset points.Tape- For taking

offsets.Ranging rods- For ranging the survey line.

academic institute. Lot of interaction between students

and teachers is taking place during this time. Thus

every students should take it as an opportunity to

learn. Prepare the set of questions in your minds and

ask to your concern teachers to solve it. It shall be

very difficult once you left that week in which the

question is arised in your mind. It is always good

practice to solve questions at the moment they arise.

The real students must have habit to ask questions.

Curiosity among students to know more can lead them

towards a better and concrete learner . Never get

At the celebration ceremony on 15th August 2016 ,

institute staff and students have been gathered for

celebration for paying honor towards the great country

India. The institute principal took salute from the

security head and started ceremony. National flag of

our great country India was unfurled by the hand of

senior teacher retiring from the services Prof.A.K.Patel

and all have given salute to the great Indian tricolor

with the sweet singing of national anthem in chorus.

The Principal Dr.P.P.Kotak said in address to keep the

campus clean and productive. He said in his speech

importance of independence by explaining the

hypothetical situation where if you don’t have

independence what difficulties and frustrations one can

have in life. It is the independence which helps in

making our life the way we wish to have. All dispersed

Globe to be more GREENER

District level Tree Plantation:Vanmahotsav

@ GP-Rajkot

This is to share our joy that we could successfully

organize and celebrate a District Level Van-Mahotsav

on 5th August,2016 at the lap of G.P.Rajkot campus.

Approximately 600 plants we sawed in about two acres

of land which will prove a commendable initiative

towards ‘Green Gujarat’ and ‘Greener India’. It is

indeed a matter of pride for us that Forest Department

of Rajkot selected our campus for such a big program

and noble cause. Among the dignitaries remained

present were Dr Vikarant Paney(District

CollectorRajkot), Dr Jaiman Upadhyay(Mayor, Rajkot

Municipal Corporation) , Shri K.V.Tikadar (Chief

Conservator of Forest Department), Shri

P.Purushothama (Deputy Conservator of Forest

Department),Dr A.S.Pandya( Principal, AVPTI),

Principal of B.K.Mody Pharmacy College and Dr

Vallabhbhai Kathiriya (Chairman, Gauseva and

Gaurakshak Board, Gujarat State).

remained present in the said program and were

made aware of the need of catering the Earth

through tree-plantation. As a host, Warm Welcome

was offered by Dr P.P.Kotak, the Principal of the

college and successive occasional speeches were

delivered by some of the above-mentioned

dignitaries. During his speech institute principal

appealed to come forward for saving our planet.

He said to join hand for making our Globe greenr

and greener by more and more plantation and

care there after of all plantation.

The whole team of faculties, under the able

guidance of Sindhav Sir and Purohit Sir, resulted

into a grand success. Dr S.B.Chhag, Shri

H.C.Jakhariya, Shri N.A.Ranpara, Shri D.D.Trivedi

, Shri J.N.Rathod and many others were among

the chief contributors because of whom the

function achieved grandeur in true sense. The

sheet-anchor role of the whole function was

subjects. It is the guidance

of teacher which is making

subject easier and easier.

I have observed that those students who are regular in

attandig classes and laboratories are performing very

well without having much burden at the time of

examinations. Teachers are prearing study materials ,

theay are showing videos , they do demonstration by

models too. All such techniques helps in better

understanding the concept. I appeal all the students of

this institute and specifically of EC –Department not to

miss the labs and classes. It is required to as a

precondition to have minimum 75% presence for being

eligible to appear at exam. I wish all good ahead in

your life to all the students of institute.

capacity of 288. Quality sound system with wireless

microphones and good quality furniture for dias is really

attractive. All these facilities are created for students of this

Sagpariya -a known orator , author and Assistant Director of SPIPA –Regional Training Centre , Rajkot was invited as a speaker.

In his motivational speech addressing audience , he addressed effectively about this topic with tens of examples. “ What is needed to empower self is firstly setting goal , secondly following the journey to achieve goal and finally doing tireless work without being biased of gender “-He said. Ms.Kajal, Lecturer from chemical department anchored this event.

Dr.P.P.Kotak welcomed the guest by presenting flower to Shri.Sagapriya . The institute principal in his speech narrated about the need of such programs and forthcoming activities.

Dr.D.H Ahir , Senir Lecturer of EC Department & Associate Dean of Faculty of Engineering –

GTU delivered fifth One day Induction training program , conducted by GTU during holidays in

the area of Active , Interactive & effective teaching for the faculty from across the Gujarat. In this

series of ITPs he has successfully trained around 2500 junior teachers in the field of pedagogy and

effective teaching. He has trained the students of this institute too in the area of preparing for

Interview.

ISTE-STTP OR G A N I S E D A T T H E P R E M I S E S O F GP,RA J K O T

Training is a continuous process for updating knowledge of the existing faculty members to keep them in pace with the rapidly

changing technology. Government Polytechnic , Rajkot has took initiative and prepared proposal for imparting training for all

teachers of Government as well as Self- finance institutes. The honorable commissioner technical education department has

sanctioned this training programme for 40 participants which is organized under the flag of ISTE-New delhi by ISTE Rajkot

Chapter. Dr.P.P.Kotak , Principal of this institute has supported for required logistics as well as infrastructure needs.

Shri.A.M.Patel , a senior faculty Member of Electrical Departments has organized this programme successfully as a coordinator.

All participants have observed this training as very much useful experience to them in support of extending their knowhow

vertically.
