RI President Ray Klinginsmith’s message:

You are about to become the new class of Rotary governors, and in just five months, it will be our mutual responsibility not only to maintain Rotary as a premier organization but to move it to an even higher level.

Rotary needs the full commitment of each and every of you, because a convoy can only move 4 International Assembly Speeches 2010 at the speed of the slowest ship

DG Al Purwa’s message:

Be effective Club and aim for Bigger, Better and Bolder , only

then you will meet the district goals

My Dear AGs, District Officers, Club Presidents and all Rotarians in D3400, I really hope to have your best co-operations with me and similar obsession to have bigger-better-bolder clubs in our D3400. You have all heard your DG’s membership challenge, should every club can answer to my Challenge, we would be able to to have 2500 quality members.

This challenging year will bring us much happiness, if we can all work hard toward our clubs’ goals to be an effective Rotary Clubs. Please start thinking and keep looking at the Presidential Citation check lists and use it as a tool to go for reaching your PC award to be an effective Rotary Clubs.

Let us all start thinking about building more fellowships and services, that will align us with RI strategic plans by concentrating in doing high impact and sustainable projects in line with the 6 areas of focus. In doing so, clubs can touch the Global Grants for larger projects for funding. Let us make all your signature projects as Public Relations tool to involve more rotarian members and participants. In returns, this will help us to get more qualified members and friends to join our doing good in the world as we are aiming to BUILDING COMMUNITIES AND BRIDGING CONTINENTS.

Official DG Visit - part 1

The First Official DG Visit to RC Surabaya Darmo and RC Surabaya Selatan

Success Stories of Polio PlusIndia

India continues to make progress in its efforts to eradicate polio. In Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, no cases of type 1 polio, the most virulent strain of the virus, have been reported since November 2009.  The government in Delhi has also provided a list of construction sites in the state to help address the need for better immunization coverage among India’s migrant population.

Nigeria– In April 2010, Christian Onyebuchi Chukwu was appointed the new Minister of Health for Nigeria. Professor Chukwu is an active Rotarian (as is his wife) and former polio state representative for Katsina. President Klinginsmith, who will participate in a PolioPlus Summit in Abuja in September 2010, sent a letter to congratulate professor Chukwu on his appointment, and to encourage him to continue to build on Nigeria’s progress toward eradication through work with state and local government authorities, particularly in the high risk states of Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, and Zamfara.

PolioPlus Summit in Nigeria – On 20-22 September 2010, a PolioPlus Summit will be held in Abuja, Nigeria to capitalize on recent successes in the country’s polio eradication campaign. The event is intended to provide support and motivation to Rotarians, government officials, traditional leaders, and others involved in the effort.  The summit will c o i n c i d e w i t h S u b N a t i o n a l Immunization Plus Days (SNIPDs) scheduled for 18-21 September.  Atendees may wish to participate in the immunization activities during their visit.  Rotary’s President Ray Klinginsmith and T r u s t e e C h a i r C a r l - W i l h e l m Stenhammar will attend the summit, along with other Rotary officials and partners from within and outside the country. The tentative Summit agenda includes a welcome reception, dinner event, and an exhibition of polio-related Rotary projects.
