Greetings!

Govt. College of Engineering, Kard established in the year 1960 is one of the oldest engineeringcollege in Western Maharashtra which has maintained excellence in technical education. The Institutebecame autonomous from 2015-16 and got all undergraduate courses accredited by NBA this yearonly. Institute is recognized by world bank funded TEQIP project as best governed institute in Indiaunder the guidance of excellent and passionate Board of Management.

Graduate studies are becoming increasingly expensive and affordable by only a small sector ofthe society. Yet there are institutions which make it possible for students from every social andfinancial background to have access to college education. Govt. College of Engineering, Karad is proudto be one among them.

The institute is a home away from home for students of every caste, creed, culture andnationality. The student and staff community has a good blend of different states and countries aswell. In a span of half century, our students have done outstandingly well in the university level examsand have brought laurels through university ranks and medals.

Institute offers great opportunities to students through value-added programme and soft skilldevelopment programme. Unique feature of institute is it has Industry Expert Board for each programwhich helps in curriculum development, industry visits, internship, assessment of students, expertlectures. Video lectures, NPTEL and Moodle make their learning simple and interesting.

For overall development of students, the students of institute organize technical colloquialprogram Aavishkar every year where about thousand of engineering students participate from acrossthe country . Student also are groomed through different clubs of their interest and make theireducation a pleasure with value addition.

And the students graduating from thisprofessionally driven Institute are today serving with great companies and at highmanagement position. Govt. College of Engineering Karad has Industry InstituteInteraction Cell dedicated for strengthening the interaction between Institute andIndustry. The cell is coordinated by a senior faculty, who will be supported by a facultymember from each of the departments. The students also actively participate in theactivities as volunteers.

The basic purpose of this cell is to involve industry’s inputs in the form of expertlectures, short-term training for faculty members/ students, projects, laboratorydevelopment, sponsoring technical non-technical events, placements, etc.

Training programs in soft skills, Personality development, aptitude / interview/ group discussions are arranged prior to the commencement of actualplacement activity.All the companies in the database are invited to be part of placement processwell in advance and consistent follow-up is exercised. IT Software services,core and dream companies are invited in the schedule of campus activity.The day and date allotment to the particular company of a typical category isdecided with consensus amongst students and T and P cell authorities.On the day, the process starts with pre-placement talk regarding companyand job profile, service terms and conditions followed by written / online test,GD and interview applicable.The shortlisted candidates are informed accordingly.Offer letter received from companies are distributed to students through Tand P cell. Records of placement are documented, updated and preserved forfuture usage. The activity continues throughout the year

from 75 last year as overall and in research it has gone to 44. For
