• GPDS is based upon the Mazda Product Development System (MPDS).

• Each Ford Brand (FoE, JLR, Volvo, FNA and Mazda was benchmarked to select the basis for GPDS.

• MPDS was by far the fastest Product Development System and closest to Toyota in time to Market.

• GPDS has taken 8 to 10 months out of Ford’s Product Development System (FPDS) time.

• However, GPDS is still 4 months slower than MPDS based upon our current capability.

The IMDS submission is an ongoing, progressive process, start from <UNV2> and end by <PEC>.

By <PEC>, all suppliers are required to meet the full compliance and this is not negotiatable.

This is clearly stated in the RSMS standard, and RSMS standard is in the SOW to every single supplier, which means you have already signed up to complete the IMDS by <PEC> with zero non-compliance. It is Ford Trustmark!

If there is any banned substances identified in the data sheet, you are required to substitute the materials with zero non-compliance, and this is a part of the <PEC> deliverables, which mean you have to conduct the Engineering Changes accordingly.

This means a lot than a simple materials change, it may request re-DV, PV. Therefore, you could picture at the worst case, if you submit MDS only one time at the last minute before <PEC>, and based on the Ford approval, you found out there is a violation, then your part will not meet the <PEC> timing.
