house of David! Is it too little for you to weary men, that you weary my God also? Therefore the LORD himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shallconceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.”

EPISTLE LESSON 1 JOHN 4:7-16

Beloved, let us one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world,

Page 28: Grace Lutheran Church Thursday, December 24, 2015.

EPISTLE LESSON 1 JOHN 4:7-16

so that we might live through him. In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.

Page 29: Grace Lutheran Church Thursday, December 24, 2015.

EPISTLE LESSON 1 JOHN 4:7-16

No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love perfected in us. By this we know that we abide in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit. And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world.

Page 30: Grace Lutheran Church Thursday, December 24, 2015.

EPISTLE LESSON 1 JOHN 4:7-16

Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. So we have come to know and to be believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.

GOSPEL MATTHEW 1:18-25

P The Holy Gospel according to St. Matthew, the first chapter.C Glory to You, O Lord

Page 33: Grace Lutheran Church Thursday, December 24, 2015.

GOSPEL

This is how the birth of Jesus the Messiah came

about His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was

found to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit.

Page 34: Grace Lutheran Church Thursday, December 24, 2015.

GOSPEL

Because Joseph her husband was faithful to the law, and yet

did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly. But after

he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to

him in a dream and said,

Page 35: Grace Lutheran Church Thursday, December 24, 2015.

GOSPEL

Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from

the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to

give him the name Jesus,

because he will

Page 36: Grace Lutheran Church Thursday, December 24, 2015.

GOSPEL

save his people from their sins.” All this took place to

fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: “The

virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which

means “God with us”). When

Page 37: Grace Lutheran Church Thursday, December 24, 2015.

GOSPEL

Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife. But

he did not consummate their marriage until she gave birth

to a son. And he gave him the name Jesus.

NOW SING WE NOW REJOICE

Now sing we now rejoice, Now raise to heaven our voice; He

from whom joy streameth Poor in a manger lies

Not so brightly beameth The sun in yonder skies;

Thou my Savior art! Thou my Savior art!

Page 40: Grace Lutheran Church Thursday, December 24, 2015.

NOW SING WE NOW REJOICE

Come from on high to me;I cannot rise to Thee

Cheer my wearied spirit, O pure and holy Child;

Through Thy grace and merit, Blest Jesus, Lord most mild

Draw me unto Thee! Draw me unto Thee!
