New York City is upping its security ahead of Sunday's mara-thon race, following the truck ramming attack that killed eight in lower Manhattan on Tuesday afternoon. Over 51,000 runners will be participating and an expected 2.5 million spectators will be lining the streets across multiple boroughs. Police are assuring the public that the marathon will "be a very safe event." A 19-year-old Syrian man was arrested on Tuesday in Schwerin, Germany. He is suspected of planning an Islamist-motivated attack using "highly explosive" materials according to the German Federal Prosecutor’s Office.

against Etowah City Commissioner Roby Helm. The suit con-
tends that Commissioner Helm made unprofessional, degrading,
and harassing comments to her on Facebook. The suit says the
comments were made as a result of a dispute with Pate over
whether to move the Etowah City Hall out of downtown Etowah
to a modular building. Helm has 30 days to respond in writing to
the allegations made in the suit.
