ACS Athens HS Diploma + Advanced Placement (AP) CoursesAdvanced Placement (AP) Courses One- year college preparatory courses Syllabus for these courses is approved by

the College Board Students write at the end of the year (May)

a standardized exam. Grades are awarded on a scale of 0-5. Students scoring a 4 and above may

receive an equivalent college credit

AP Examinations

Standardized examinations in May

Students can take an exam in any subject without having taken the respective AP course

Students have the choice to report their exam score to Colleges.

The IB Diploma Program-A two- year program which prepares students to take standardized exams at the end of the second year.

-IBO sets the Diploma requirements, designs course curriculum and regulates assessment

IB DP requirements- Our Course Offerings

The Core of the program: Complete all Theory of Knowledge Essay (max 1,600 words) Extended Essay (max 4,000 words) Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) (Complete a project related

to those three concepts)The 6 subjects: Complete 5 courses, one from each of the first 5

subject areas, plus 1 course from Arts or from any of the first 4 areas. At least 3 out of 6 must be at High Level and 3 at Standard Level.

Studies in Language and Literature (English L, English L&L, Greek L&L, Self-taught) Language Acquisition (Spanish, Arabic) Individuals and Societies (Economics, History, Psychology, Business Management) Sciences (Computer Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics,

Environmental Systems and Societies) Mathematics (Mathematics HL, Mathematics SL, Math Studies SL) Arts (Visual Arts, Theater)

Assessment in the IB Diploma IB course assessment scale: 1-7 IB Essay assessment scale: E-A Two types of assessment: Internal and

External Maximum IB Diploma points: 45 (42 from the

6 courses and 3 points from TOK and EE; CAS is not awarded any points)

Minimum points for the Diploma: 24 provided student achieves a minimum of 12 points for the HL courses and a minimum of 9 points for the SL courses and a passing grade (D) for TOK and EE.

ACS Athens- IB Diploma program: admissions procedures

A Student application is required Download the application form at www.acs.gr.

Work on your application during the Grade 10 Advisory class.You must submit a complete application by March 3, 2016.

Admission requirements: Academic achievement (please see our program of

studies)Personal statement and Personal portfolio (please

see instruction in the application form)Personal interview

ACS Athens HS diploma + some IB courses + some AP courses+ some

ACS Athens Authentic courses Students can choose any of the IB diploma or

AP or ACS Athens Honors courses that fit their academic needs and goals.

Students are placed in any individual course above based on academic performance.

No application is required.
