Can you remember the day when you notice several changes in your body? Like

having a facial hair for boys or developing breast for girls. These physical changes are

happening during puberty. But how does our body change from a child’s body to a mature

adult body?

As a young scientist, your first task is to read the concept of Hormone Secretion (The

Parts and Functions of Endocrine System).

Be challenged with the following activity below:

A. My Endocrine System

Identify the different Endocrine Glands found in our body. Describe the

functions of each endocrine gland, and give some examples of the hormones

secreted in each gland. Then, come up with a generalization about

the functions of the endocrine system based on the following guide

question:

to keep our body healthy?

3A Principles of Counting (Individual)

The fundamental principles of counting deals with the different choices that one can

make given many possibilities. For example,

How many ways can a doctor make his rounds if he has

4 patients and he checks each patience once?

Read more on the fundamental principles of counting and do ONE of the tasks below.

A. Provide what is asked.

1. How many different license plates can be generated if the first 4 characters have

to be letters and the last 3 characters have to be numbers?

2. The pin code of a smart phone uses at least 4 numbers. How many possible

combinations there would be?

B. Answer the following using a tree diagram:

1. How many 3-no. combinations can be made from numbers 143?

2. How many possible outcome will there be when a dice is rolled thrice?

3. Suppose that you go to a restaurant to get some breakfast, and the menu says

pancakes, waffles, or sandwich. The drinks are coffee, juice, hot chocolate, and tea.

How many different choices of food and drinks were actually offered?

C. In Make-Your-Own Pizza Parlor, a customer can choose between either a thin or

thick crust. For the meat topping, the parlor offers a choice of bacon, pepperoni,

sausage, or ground beef. For the veggie topping, the choices are mushroom, onion, or

green pepper. And for the cheese topping, one can choose from mozzarella,

provolone, blue cheese, or cream cheese. Create a Pizza Menu of the all the kinds of

pizza that can be made given one kind of meat topping and one kind of veggie

topping is allowed.

keep your outputs so that when we are already allowed to go out you will be able to submit right away.

Money …. Money …. Money! This seems to be the only thing that matters to some

people. A lot of crimes, death, and misfortunes happen because of money. Have you

ever imagined how the world would be without money? But what is in money that

everybody works hard for it or for others simply put their luck on gambling just to have it?

Read the story, “The Lottery Ticket”, on pages 219 - 225 and do the activity. Compose

a slogan, a poem, or a poster about money, lottery or fortune.

SUBJECT: TLE (HANDICRAFT)

GRADE: 10

PROJECT # 2

ART DECO PLATE (Layering Method)

Things You’ll Need

1. Plate for a Mould 5. Tissue paper 2. Petroleum jelly 6. PVA adhesive 3. Newspaper torn into 4 X ½ in (10 X 1 cm) strips 7. White emulsion paint 4. Mixed wallpaper paste 8. Acrylic paints

Procedure:

1. Smear the surface and edges of the plate with petroleum jelly. 2. Brush paste on to one side of the paper strips. Apply to the plate. Start the

edges and work towards the center, overlapping the strips. 3. When the plate has complete layer of paper, leave to dry. 4. Apply 5 more layers, leaving the work to dry between each application. 5. After the final layer, gently lift the paper shell from the plate. Trim the edges

with sharp scissors. 6. Paste small pieces of tissue paper over the surface of the shell, taking the

tissue over the edges. Then work the back of the shell. 7. Continue adding layers of paste tissue paper until the paper plate thickens

and solidifies and the surface becomes smooth. 8. When the plate is completely dry, paint it with white emulsion paint. 9. Finally, decorate the plate with acrylic colours.

Guidelines in making the project

1. Prepare the necessary tools and materials in making the products. 2. Based on the given procedures, execute the article with a project plan. You may refer to this procedure but you could also make some modifications.

Be creative in doing your paper craft articles.

3. Practice safety and precautionary measures. 4. Paper Mache Basic Techniques

1. Layering method is the most common sort of paper mâché, where strips are soaked in glue and added to a mold layer by layer.

a. Prepare the mould or structure. Tear paper into small strips about ½ in (1

cm) wide X 2 in (5 cm ) long. This size strip will mould well round most curves.

b. Use water only to damped the strips and smooth each one in place, overlapping the edges slightly, to build a layer reaching to the outside edge. Allow the strips to overlap the edge slightly as this can be trimmed later.

c. Apply the second layer of strips, this time using paste and work the strips in other direction. This help to build a firm, strong web. Paint paste over the surface and smooth with your hands to remove any air bubbles. Do this after applying each layer of strips.

d. Add another layer of glued strips, working downward in the same direction as the first layer. Continue in this way until the layers are thick enough to hold the shape.

2. Pulp method is modeling clay for making paper mache.

Materials:

6 double sheets of newspaper (or similar quantity of other white paper) ¼ cup fabric conditioner

7 large spoons of whiting or ground chalk 6 large spoons mixed wallpaper paste 2 medium-sized spoons linseed oil

4 medium-sized spoons PVA adhesive

Large saucepan

a. Tear the paper into small pieces no larger than 5/8 in (15 mm) square. Put the paper into the bucket and cover with water. Add the fabric conditioner

b. Pour water and paper into large saucepan and bring to boil. Simmer for 30 minutes. The paper will begin to break up. If a dark scum rises to the top of the water, skim this off. Leave the mix to cool.

c. Working in batches, mix, using the blender. Strain the pulp into a sieve and press with the back of a spoon to remove as much water as possible.

d. Transfer the strained pulp to a large mixing bowl. Stirring well, mix in the whiting and wall paper paste, then the linseed oil and PVA adhesive. Mix thoroughly. The pulp is ready for use.
