Success Criteria: I have selected and engaged with one of the activities below. Learning Resources Required: Exercise book, pencils, and iphone/tablet/computer. Learning Task: Today is a flexible learning time for reading. Students can choose activities from the following: 1. Practise independent reading for 15-20 minutes. Students can track their thinking during this time. 2. Login to Reading Eggs and complete their next lesson, under the ‘My lessons’ tab. 3. Listen to the following podcast: Why Do Lions Roar? Reflect and write down your wonderings in your exercise book. WRITING Learning Intention: I can brainstorm different ideas for my poetry topic. Success Criteria: I have recorded my thoughts about emotions and wonderings. Learning Resources Required: Exercise book and coloured textas or pencils. Learning Task: Students will brainstorm theme ideas for their upcoming poetry unit today. 1. Brainstorm as many words and ideas about the FAMILY & FRIENDS topic: 2. Brainstorm as many words and ideas about the ANIMALS topic: Extension Learning Task: Use a dictionary to look up the definition of some of your words.

BREAK: ensure students have a well-earned break with a snack, rest and a game/physical activity. MATHS - APPLIED Learning Intention: I can describe the everyday language of chance. Success Criteria: I have used everyday language of chance to describe the likelihood of events happening. Learning Resources Required: Exercise book, pencil, and iPad, laptop or computer. Learning Task:

1. Watch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TedbpetdzBE 2. Create a scale that includes the following: likely, unlikely, certain and impossible.

3. Look at other language that you could match and place on your line (will happen, might

happen, won’t happen, probably, improbable). 4. Optional: login to Mathletics and complete the assigned activities.

Extension Learning Task: Write a list of other words that mean the same as impossible and certain. OPTIONAL: SCIENCE Learning Intention: I can discuss similarities and differences between images of characters creating mixtures. Success Criteria: I have drawn and described what role each character has and what they think they are making. Learning Resources Required: Exercise book and pencils. Learning Task:

1. Draw and describe the following roles each character has and what they are making:

2. Explain why they think different characters are creating mixtures and brainstorm what

they know about mixtures and their uses. Extension Learning Task: See if an adult can help you to mix some different mixtures together from the kitchen. For example: flour and milk. What does this make? Continue with different mixtures.

OPTIONAL: SUNSET MATHS/MATHLETICS Learning Intention: I can engage with online maths tasks on Sunset Maths or Mathletics. Success Criteria: I have selected an activity to complete online and tried my best. Learning Resources Required: iphone/tablet/computer. Learning Task: Today is a flexible learning time for mathematics. Students can choose activities from the following:

1. Practise an independent learning task for 15-20 minutes such as skip counting (by twos, threes, fives, tens), addition or subtraction sums, multiplication and division sums.

2. Login to Essential Assessment and play Sunset Maths

3. Login to Mathletics and complete the assigned activities.
