Learning Summary Reach for Reading Unit 7 BIG Question: What does it take to explore space?
During this 9th week of at-home learning, 4th graders will complete Unit 7 of their Reach for Reading curriculum. Students will read a biography titled, “The First Person on the Moon”, adapted from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) website. At the culmination of this unit, fourth graders will think critically to synthesize their learning over the last four weeks. They will achieve this by citing explicit details and examples from texts, making comparisons, and integrating information. Fourth graders will continue to demonstrate their understanding of key math, science, and other academic vocabulary acquired throughout Unit 7. They will also hone foundational reading skills, as they work more with prepositional phrases and roots.

Task 1:
• Turn to page 478 in your text, and read about Word Parts.
• On the bottom of page 478, read directions for the “Try It Together” section.
o Answer the two questions about the words, wisdom and rotary. o Explain the thinking behind your choices.
• Use a blank sheet of paper to record your responses. Task 2:
