High School Digital Citizenship

In accordance with Envision WCSD 2020 district strategic plan, Initiative 1.3.1 and 1.3.2, digital citizenship

must be integrated into K-12 curriculum. High school students establish a greater depth of understanding

to aid in mastery of digital citizenship. These concepts build upon the elementary and middle school

expectations within the topics of identity and self-image, digital footprint and online reputation,

communication and relationships, digital drama and cyberbullying, information literacy, safety, creative

credit, and security and privacy. The expectations for high school address ISTE Student Standards, NVACS

Grade 9-10, NVACS Grade 11-12, AASL, and CASEL. While the scope and sequence provides specific lesson

recommendations for digital citizenship, interdisciplinary instructional decisions should be considered to

achieve grade level standards and expected outcomes. The following digital citizenship lessons are

recommended to be implemented throughout high school.

Grade Level Scope & Sequence Grade Level Expectations

Master concepts within Identity & Self-Image and Digital Footprint & Online Reputation

Master concepts within Digital Drama & Cyberbullying and Information Literacy

Master concepts regarding Creative Credit

Master concepts involving Security & Privacy

Students will demonstrate responsible social media use.

Students will identify reliable sources of information.

Students will understand digital laws and consequences including those associated with copyright violations, hacking, etc.

Students will practice strategies to protect privacy online.

The expectations outlined above may be achieved using the following recommended lessons, vocabulary

and supplementary resources:
