INTRODUCTION
Each year the graduates of NCCC are surveyed after graduation in order to identify what they are doing and how their experiences at NCCC may have contributed to their current status. The focus is primarily on their employment and/or educational activities.
SURVEY METHOD
The Class of 2016 graduates was sent surveys (see Appendix) six months after their date of graduation and was asked to report their status related to employment and/or education. In addition, several items were included to obtain feedback from graduates on how satisfied they were with their experiences at NCCC.
The Class of 2016 includes graduates from August and December 2015, and May 2016, each receiving the initial mail survey six months from their graduation date. Approximately six weeks after the initial mailing a second survey was sent out to non-respondents. Telephone calls were then made to graduates who did not respond to any of the mailings. RESPONSE RATE
Type of Response Number of Graduates
% of Total
Mail Survey 206 20.3%
Telephone Survey 343 33.7%
Unreachable* 467 46.0% *Many graduates are never reached because their current address/telephone information is not available.
Combining the mail and telephone survey responses resulted in a 54.0% response rate.
ORGANIZATION
This report is organized into two major sections. The first section provides an overview of the status of graduates, in what geographic areas they are employed or attending college, and other descriptive information about graduates overall. In addition there is a summary of responses to the satisfaction/assessment questions. Graduates felt very positive about the quality of instruction at NCCC, the course content in their major, and about NCCC in general. They also felt that NCCC had contributed significantly to the attainment of their educational goals. In terms of contribution to areas related to general education, graduates felt most strongly about NCCC’s contribution to their communication skills and their research/problem solving skills, and less strongly about math/computational skills, computer applications and understanding different cultures. Several questions related to citizenship indicate that graduates are more likely to be up-to-date with news events and vote in national elections, than vote in local elections or volunteer their services. Finally, Section I contains selected comments from graduates. In general, graduates felt very positive about their experiences at NCCC.
2
The second section presents information for each program. Included is a summary table of the
employment/student status for each transfer and career program. For transfer programs, which primarily prepare students for transfer to baccalaureate programs, there is a listing of the colleges and major program of study where graduates have chosen to further their education. For career programs, which focus more on preparation for employment (although many graduates further their education), there is a listing of program-related employment and job titles, as well as a listing of the colleges and majors where graduates are furthering their education. STATUS OF GRADUATES
"Status of Survey Respondents" in Section I summarizes the status of graduates who responded to the survey (see page 4). In all, 81.9% of survey responders are either employed, furthering their education, or both. LOCATION OF GRADUATES
On page 5, location of graduates is displayed and shows that 88.4% of employed graduates have remained in either Niagara or Erie County. Of the graduates who are furthering their education, 80.5% are doing so in Niagara or Erie County. From these numbers it is clear that most NCCC graduates remained in the Western New York area. TRANSFER INSTITUTIONS
The page entitled "Transfer Institutions" lists the colleges where graduates have chosen to further their education. For the 2016 graduates, SUNY at Buffalo was the most frequently chosen institution. However, many other institutions are also represented both in and out of New York State.

SELECTED COMMENTS FROM GRADUATES
I was very happy to have started there and I will recommend NCCC to future students. NCCC was great for me because of how small and personal the school is. If I ever needed help for classes or anything there was always someone who could help me. The NFCI campus is so modern and the chefs are amazing. NCCC was an amazing experience. It was a great and rewarding experience, and I was able to leave with no debt. NCCC is a wonderful school. I’m glad I went there. If NCCC were a 4-year school, I would have never left! I loved my professors. Each of them knew me by name. I always compare my 4-year private school to NCCC because the quality at NCCC was exceptional. It was a great time and I value every moment at NCCC! I had an exceptional experience at NCCC. I value the education I received. It has changed my entire life and opened doors I never thought possible! I had an excellent experience at NCCC. Loved the faculty and staff. Love the coursework and the athletics. Overall great experience. Great teachers/atmosphere/staff. Great place for me to start my career! NCCC was a great place to start out. Teachers are very nice and are willing to help you in any way they can! My experience at NCCC has been great. I had great professors that all wanted me to be successful in my goals. NCCC was the perfect college for the start of my college education.

PROGRAM INFORMATION
This section provides information specific to each program of study. Included is a table (p. 11) summarizing the number of awards and the status of graduates from each program. The type of information in the table depends upon whether the program is primarily for transfer or employment. Transfer programs focus upon preparation for further education in baccalaureate institutions and therefore the information most relevant for these programs is the number of graduates pursuing further education. For career programs, employment related to program and salary information is also provided in the table. Average salary was calculated for full-time employment.
The sections following the table list the colleges and major fields of study for graduates who are pursuing further education. The number in parentheses following the major indicates how many graduates are pursuing that particular major at that particular institution. No number following the major implies a single graduate.
The information for career programs includes employers and job titles for employment reported by graduates to be related to their program of study, as well as colleges and majors where graduates are pursuing further education. Some graduates reported more than one employer, in which case, both are included.

Dear :
Each year we survey our graduates to find out what they have done after graduating from NCCC. This information is very helpful to current and future students who want to know where NCCC graduates work and go on to further studies. It also helps us evaluate
the effectiveness of our programs in preparing students for their futures.
Please take a few minutes to complete our survey and mail it back to us in the enclosed self-addressed, postage-paid envelope.
At the end of the survey is an optional “Comments” box. Please feel free to express your thoughts, opinions, or feelings on your experiences at NCCC. We have found these comments very helpful in understanding our strengths and weaknesses.
ALL OF YOUR RESPONSES ARE COMPLETELY CONFIDENTIAL. Information on graduates is summarized and in no way identified with individuals or names.
If you have any questions or concerns in regard to this survey, or would like a summary of the results, I can be reached at (716) 614-5925.
I look forward to hearing from you and greatly appreciate your assistance in completing this important study of our graduates.
Sincerely,
Mary Jane Feldman, Ph.D.
